I belive the reason was because the voice actor was diagnosed with cancer and his chances of survival were slim, so they killed him off prematuraly because they thought he would not survive. Thankfully he did, but the damage was already done
Marco gets attacked by a horse and survives easily, Empowered Mina gets attacked by a horse and dies. Marco is the strongest character in the series confirmed??
The only thing that's worse than watching a bad show is watching a show that was actually pretty good destroy itself until the only thing remembered by it is it's awful ass ending.
@@D3viant517 This is exactly the tragedy of bad endings for long, story-oriented shows. The first couple of seasons could be great, full of 8-10/10s. But then the latter seasons are full of stinkers, themes and characters get mishandled, show's not as enjoyable, etc. All culminating in an ending that makes the payoff of everything the show was building up feel like a waste of time. And the worst part is that it's kinda hard to separate the good and the bad in shows like this because they're connected by the plot. In SVTFOE, you can't really enjoy episodes that involve Marco and Jackie or Star and Tom because you KNOW how terribly those relationships end up. In SU, the episodes where the Gems reminisce about how much Rose meant to them and how they miss her kinda get undercut by the reveal of her being Pink Diamond, and the resulting consequences of her disguise that affects the entire show. Those shows are still decent, without a doubt. But knowing how they degrade over seasons makes it hard to come back to them.
Fun fact. According to supplementary materials, aka, books and such, Glossaryck *created* the Magic High Commission, meaning that not only he made them violently incompetent on purpose, he also created them fully knowing that he's arranging everything for them to be erased from existence one day. Bit rude if you ask me.
@logannottheonefrommarvel9917 imagine if they actually pulled the trigger on that. Mina is the bait-and-switch and Glossaryk becomes the real villain of Season 4. Imagine having your trusted mentor figure who's been in your family's bloodline for centuries secretly be committing a self-erasure long game to wipe out all magic. That sounds interesting, but NO! WE HAD TO DEAL WITH LAME SHIPPING FUEL AND A NOTHING BURGER OF A VILLIAN WITH CHARACTERS WHO ARE VERY INCONSISTENT THROUGHOUT!!!! ISN'T IT FUN?!?!?!
What gets me about the finale was that Star literally deleted a fundamental force of the universe to save a group of people from being pushed off a cliff, killing a literally incalculable amount of people in the aftermath between her spells, the high commission, anyone in unfortunate spots when the dimensional merge happened, and literally anyone who relied on magic to live in one way or another. It's like if someone decided to delete gravity from the universe to save a town of like, 1000 people tops.
Star already showed signs of actaully being bad when she tried to murder Gustav, and her "he's a c*nnibal" theory was a conspiracy she made up completely because she was jealous. And when she gets mewberty she literally KIDNAPS boys. Star was definitely real sus at times even before the finale
I have said this to someone before: the fact that the owl house managed to create an overall satisfying conclusion when it got dealt a heavy hand with 3 episodes of a season 3 to wrap EVERYTHING UP while star vs had far more episodes in its final season yet managed to fumble the bag hard by the end is a testament. The writing truly went off the rails
The fact that The Owl House was able to go off with such a great ending, in spite of the handicap for season 3, is a complete and total miracle by the grace of God.
@@eatatjoes6751 Wholeheartedly agree as well given it had a whole other season planned and disney granted them one last episode to wrap the show up in the way they wanted it to. Which is super unlike disney btw
@@eatatjoes6751 I heard that the creators had an ending already planned out just in case they were cancelled, as it was up in the air at the time (during season two) if they’d get a third season. They were initially planning for a third season (as the original season two finale was open ended), but like Disney TV do, they announced the cancellation right when season two was wrapping up, forcing the creators to use their planned ending episode sooner than expected.
one thing I disliked was when the show switched from kinetic and energetic flash animation, to stiff hand drawn animation, which lessens the impacts of battles and some general visual charms being gone.
@@goobusmcdoobus2 I don't think S2 and beyond had hand drawn animation, it just looks like stiffer puppet animation. If anything, I think S1 was the only season to use hand drawn (it looks like mostly puppet animation, with hand drawn scenes used here and there for the faster scenes) S1 was animated by Rough Draft Korea, while everything else was done by Mercury Filmworks. I think that's the actual reason why the animation took such a hit
@@11bg00 in the general animation landscape, that is true, but the implementation of hand drawn on the show caused a lot of stiffer fight scenes, general visual degradation and a lack of expressive style.
Fun Fact: The reason why the animation got changed after Season 1 is because they changed the animation studio. That studio (Mercury Filmwoks ) also animated Hilda. ( I don't know if you have watched Hilda )
Eclipsa being first introduced as a mysterious looming villain. Then being released. Then being showed to not actually be a villain but a rather morally gray and rather sympathetic character. Then for her daughter, to be revealed to be the next villain. Then for her to be the actual heir to the throne, saving the kingdom and thus establishing her role as ruler and a good person. Then to being completely indifferent to being the harbinger of doom by committing magical genocide along with Star and Moon, a pure act of evilness. I hate it here.
I love how cartoonshi puts in intermission breaks even though this is a youtube video and i can just pause anytime i want and come back to watching as if nothing ever happened
@@kanati1133GoT's downfall was entirely because of incompetence, had DnD followed the books and introduced young griff + gives us the real Euron Greyjoy they would have made gold.
@@guerreiroazul3230 I say greed only cause iirc DnD was offered a star wars deal which they leaped immediately. Which had them try to wrap up GoT as fast a possible to get said deal. Only to not even get it after the poor reception of GoT, they saw dollar signs and ran for it only to have a lose-lose scenario on their hands

I wonder if autistic people enjoy watching video essays/rants on stories of TV shows like this one and video games like Inazuma Eleven GO: Chrono Stone, Pokemon Sword & Shield, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
Yeah it’s so odd how nowadays nobody brings up star vs anymore despite it easily being the most popular Disney xd original (second most popular if u count gravity falls as an xd show) during its run and one of the most popular cartoons of the 2010s Nobody mentions a peep about the show anymore and the fanbase is pretty much dead, it’s like the show left no impact Yeah Ik it’s hated but so was Steven universe and that show is still talked about to this day and it still has a dedicated fanbase In fact I’d say SU had far more hate during its later seasons than star vs season 4 ever did
This show exemplifies how writers can undermine their own story by focusing excessively on pleasing fans. It seems that Star and Marco were not initially intended to be a couple, but due to strong fan demand, the writers felt compelled to pair them. This decision led to Star and Marco getting their own storyline, while other characters were relegated to the main plotline. Another instance of forced fanservice is evident with the character Hekapoo. Originally, Rhombulus was meant to be the standout good member of the MHC, but Hekapoo's popularity, driven by her design and her potential pairing with Marco, pushed her into that role. This shift resulted in inconsistent character roles for both Hekapoo and Rhombulus.
I don’t think you got it right. Blood moon ball was THE episode when it became clear that Star and Marco will be endgame. This is a point in the story, from which their relationship gained romantic context. Not because of fans, but because of writers. And it’s even more evident, considering that Daron Nefcy made Marco look like her husband
I remember Daron Nefcy saying that Marco was based on her husband, so it was always going to be endgame, and so when the plot started to give signs it could be better if they weren't, the writers had to find a way to make it back to the rails, at the cost of everything else
The problem was that they never gave any single plot point or character development the time and continuity it needed. I feel the entire reason for the relationships in this show was to portray how these things can be messy and confusing. Things and feelings can change and what was love could turn into nothing. The grand issue was that like basically every thing in the show (Monsters-Mewmans, magic, Metora, Eclipsa) it was essentially shoved into a closet until whatever episode was designated the "romance" episode. Take the Marco Jackie breakup. If that was built up over the season as Marco gradually realises his feelings of Star and Mewni and we see how the relationship starts to degrade. Then it would've been fine, because we see how over time he starts to care more about Star and Jackie realizes that the relationship isn't working. However, all of this was essentially shoved into a 11 minute episode and never any more.

The Cartoonshi healing arc has reached its finale. Thanks for all the hard work you’ve been through for our entertainment man. So lucky and happy to be one of your subscribers.
Like the wise words of Blue Order "A show's finale is what leaves the lasting impact." This makes me happy that Amphibia, The Owl House and The Ghost and Molly Mcgee had great endings in my opinion.
Long Cartoonshi video? On my birthday as well!? Definitely a good birthday. EDIT: I appreciate the birthday wishes all of you hope you have great weeks :D
The first season was goated. I really wish they stuck with the bouncy animation, it’s what gave it its charm. Otherwise I feel it fell into decline and I still kinda hate that it ended the way it did to this day.
Star vs is a case of switching animation studios which in this case the studio that animated season 1 (Mercury filmworks, mostly known for Hilda) was changed for what i believe is disney's south korean animation studio SugarCube, and THAT team was switched for Rough Draft Studios (well known for Drawn Toghether).
Of all things, Ludo was definitely my favorite aspect of season 2. I'm a sucker for character arcs where a character develops from being a pathetic joke villain to being a competent threat through their own hard work. It's like an underdog story, something you more frequently see with heroes than villains. Seeing a once pathetic villain actually manage to find success and competence of course makes you worried for the hero, but it's also this weird sense of pride like "yeah, good job! You've earned this!" It makes me weirdly root for the villains in some cases. And Ludo is one of my favorite examples of this, at least in season 2.
I do have to say i appreciate cartoonshi adding intermission breaks inbetween the segments as someone who struggles keeping track of time or just clicking off its nice being reminded to take a break for a while go eat something or breath and process and then come back its nice
Remindes me of hazbin hotel, so much promise and cool ideas for such little execution. Edit: this isn't me saying that the show is horrible, its just very lackluster.
Can I just say how much I appreciate your act breaks between seasons. No one else does that and I wish they would. Genuinely so many props to you @Cartoonshi
One problem I have with the series is the confusion (and occasionally negative continuity) in regards to various species. For example: -Demons and monsters are apparently two different things, since demons are trusted by the royal family, and thanks to The Magic Book of Spells, we know that Celena the Shy was half-demon. -River does not know what a toilet is, so it's implied that mewmans and humans are biologically different, yet later in the series, mewmans are established to have been the descendants of humans, and also, a toilet shows up in Mewni later on. -Non-human/mewman characters like Ponyhead, Rich Pigeon, and the Magical High Commission aren't considered monsters. So what are they? -Do all mewmans go through mewberty, or just the royal family? Also, why does only the royal family have cheek marks? Edit: Star acknowledges the third point in S3E9, but it's never touched on again, and Moon, being flanderized into a racist asshole, ignores everything Star said.
I could give a theoretical answer for the toilet thing. Star and her father were more amazed that ‘earth toilets’ flushed and assumed it was magic. Since Mewni is more medieval, but the mewmans (descendants of humans) needed to use the restroom, their ‘toilets’ are more like loos or outhouses; there’s no flushing, it either goes in a sewage hole and/or is cleaned out by sewage men to be despots of (or they use chamber pots and dump it themselves). Ie, Mewni has no proper indoor plumbing and used 18th century (at the latest) forms of toilets.
i'm assuming just the royal family goes through mewberty since they're the only ones with magic. only they have cheek marks because they are a sign of magic. no one else has magic
Biologically, they are all monsters (the solarean blades affected them), but some of the species had better relations with mewmans than others, so socially, they weren’t regarded as monsters. The butterflies have cheek marks because they had greater exposure to magic than other mewmans, because of glossrick giving their ancestor the wand. You can notice that their babies are born with cheek marks, which I assume is because their mothers being exposed to magic affected them when they were in the womb.
I’m sure this video took a TON of effort, but if you ever decide to do one of these, it’d be cool to see you talk about every Amphibia episode! Great video as always!
I used to love this show. I was obsessed with it. At the time I didn't really see these problems. But man going back through this review, I loved the Battle for Mewni when it first aired but now I am seeing just how poorly paced and horribly ended it was. Imagine building up a character who everyone said could not be killed except for a very specific spell. Then Star somehow shows up out of nowhere and kills him instantly. It goes against everything they built up and every part of Toffee's character. The degradation of the animation from season 1 and season 2 wasn't something I really noticed because I was so interested in the lore and the character development. But WOW you're right. The difference between season 1 and the other seasons is night and day. Season 1 had so much personality and wasn't afraid to get weird and cartoonish. Season 2 and onward feels so sanitized. And of course, that ending. Even when I was deep in this show's lore and discussion, I still despised that ending. Easily one of the dumbest ways to end a cartoon. The implications of everything that happened from Mina going free, to killing off countless magical beings to save a small group of monsters and the gravity of what they actually did JUST TO MAKE STARCO happen should be studied for how much of a trashfire it is. Truly a disappointing way to end a series with fun characters, great action sequences and intriguing lore. At least our boy Ludo got the ending he deserved.
holy shit. I did not expect you to return to this show. Your first video about svtfoe is one of MY first videos I have watched from you. Interested to see what you have to say about this show again after all these years. (btw I have never watched this show before despite watching tons of review videos of it. Im fascinated with its downfall)
This couldn’t have been a better timed video! I just rewatched the entire series and seeing it all over again made me feel that frustration of the finale and all it represented all over again :/
I remember watching the episodes as they aired and then eventually stopped around the end of season 2, so I decided to rewatch the entire show on Disney + more recently to see how it ended and the drop off in quality is actually so bad it kind of ruined my enjoyment of the original seasons.
same. i've been rewatching my favorite childhood/adolescent shows recently (thanks new gravity falls content lol) and star vs is the one i haven't returned to, because i fear knowing how badly it ends will sour the good memories i have of watching it as it came out.
One good consistency was the voice actors. Yeah the show wasn't very good in later seasons, the actors felt like they were the characters because of their energy behind them. Side note for the video: Thanks for putting all the songs youve put into the the description, and just how long that and the editing took. It's very solid 👌
Just Stop Mr Birchum video and Cartoonshi Star Vs video on the same day?! Sign me up! I also wanted to say that it’s kinda sad that this is the only Disney show from the last 10 years to have a genuinely awful finale.
My head timeline is wild because SVTFOE ended in May of 2019, which seems so ancient, but Minecraft 1.15 released the same year in December. I love the intermissions you added to the video, it makes the narration that much more charming.
I always thought it was funny that Star has a ton of cool casual outfits, (which is very rare to see in cartoons) while nearly everyone else has a default look.
1:30:35 I believe we saw Marco's cheekmarks so we coukd make the conection for the eventual reveal of Star's family line not being the original Butterflys. Up until then we thought that it was a heradatory trait exclusive to Butterfly family member, but it turns out that every human/mewman who came in contact with the wand had them show up, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that they'd become a pernament feature if one is exposed to magic for a long period of time. Also only humans and mewmans have these cheekmarks show up when using the wand, so this might have been a hint that mewmans and humans are the same species and that the first mewmans were in fact human sailors (as much as that twist ment nothing and went nowhere)
“You can’t give the oppressors a legitimate reason to be afraid of who they are oppressing” I think that was my problem with X men always being praised as such a good prejudice allegory, but at least they have some bigoted humans as villains, SVTFOE never properly did that
I don't agree at all with this opinion the monster racism thing. The thing that I feel needs to be understood is that not every plotpoint in fiction that has parallels to the real world, is also a direct allegory. What makes the monster/mewni situation interesting (at least when not done super bad) in my opinion IS the fact that unlike in the real world, monsters geniunenly have some issues inherent to their existence that can cause conflict and has. The fact that a lot of the people who have issues with the monsters do so for valid reasons makes it a much more interesting conflict to see. A strength of fiction is the posibility to explore stuff that could not happen or generally does not happen in the real world. The fact that in Star VS Monsters can geniunenly be problematic for a number of reasons but many of them still aren't or try not to be helps to create an interesting conflict because it means that the way the "non problematic" characters interact also has some tension. If you want to make interesting stories abiding by weird utopian rules such as "opressors can never have legitimate reasoning" is dumb. In history there have been a lot of times where oppression was used by people who had legitimate reasons at the start, and viewing how those conflicts and tensions formed is interesting and can help create some really cool stories in fiction.
Right?? Like, I don't remember black/gay/irish/any other minority waking up one day and vaporizing everyone in the city. Mutants SHOULD be kept in check. It's BAD that some people have powers.
As awful as Season 4 is, I give it props for 2 things: 1) It was very cool to see it integrate parts of the spell book that came out in real life after Season 3 into the story. 2) Janna randomly appearing on Mewni in Season 3 was originally just a silly joke about how unpredictable and unhinged she is, and then Season 4 made it into a significant plot point. I've never seen a show recontextualize a seemingly one-off joke from an entire season ago like this, and I still consider it one of the most genius things a show has ever done.
@@eatatjoes6751it’s not stupid? The book was made to put more lore into the show. And then the show uses it. Just because not everyone has the book doesn’t mean they can’t use that content for their show
@@eatatjoes6751 It would only be stupid if the show depended on you reading the book in order for it to make sense. That's not what it did. It presented the information from the book in a way that's perfectly digestible on its own.
Regarding Ludo conveniently ending up on Mewni in Ludo in the Wild: I think the implication is that the green energy that rushes past him and sends him crashing into the planet is in fact a manifestation of Toffee from within the wand, leading Ludo toward the wand to further his plans.
Man, this was a great video. And the intermission sessions were such an amzing idea I wish more ranking videos did it, especially those that cover super long running series like the simpsons
Eclipsa: Gets betrayed my all of Muny for years because she married a monster. Mina: Tries to kill multiple races/minorities. Gets away scot free. And is not killed or even arrested. 🤨
Is it just me, or it feels like Seasons 3 and 4 definitely went through a few rewrites, in particular to how Marco would be handled. Think about it, in the first 2 seasons, there were several hints (plus foreshadowing) that he had some sort of connection with Toffee, plus how he was affected by the forbidden spells in that one episode. Pretty much all of that was dropped in Seasons 3 and 4, the only remnants of it being Marco's wand design, notably having the same bat wings as the "Evil" in the show's logo. I think Marco using the wand and learning Eclipsa's forbidden magic was probably where the show was heading, but for one reason or another it was dropped for one reason or another. This would explain why Marco's monster arm never came back, despite being teased as late as Season 3, as it would've tied into Marco's dropped plotline. It also explains why Marco fumbles around in relationship drama hell for the last two seasons, since his major role in the story was dropped, they had to draw out this aspect of his character as long as possible. There's a lot of wasted time in the last two seasons, probably because they had to fill time after one of their major storylines was scrapped. Also, fun fact, as stated in the real-life Book of Spells you can buy, Toffee and Eclipsa dated at one point. This fact is never mentioned in the show itself, but I think would've further tied in with Marco's dropped plotline, perhaps having Eclipsa being a mentor figure for Marco, with Toffee getting involved. Maybe Toffee still would've still been a major figure in the show in some capacity in the latter seasons, but since Marco's storyline that would've involved him was scrapped, there wasn't any further use for Toffee so they killed him off. That's all just my crackpot theory though, I'm not sure this is 100% the case but it's fun to speculate on what could've been.
I forgot how deeply I was into this show when I was a teenager, but seeing certain episode titles like “Booth Buddies” made me relate to war veteran flashbacks
The first half wasn't that bad. The second half was trash. I wished they kept Starco dead. Dead like Kanye West's career, Dead like Krato's chances to return to Fortnite, and ten feet underground
Ok, I just got done with this and it's insane that I discovered you nearly 5 years ago (with that SVFOE video). I'm proud to see how far you've come! Cant wait to see what the next 5 years has to offer!
I enjoyed this a lot. This defiantly speaks wonders of good writing vs awful writing and lack of consistencies. As a writer I took a lot from this show, It shows both how to do certain things right and how to do those same things wrong just a season later. Star Vs is certainly one of the most odd shows I've seen. If you were to do another ranking I think you should review the episodes in order from worst to best instead of putting the rankings at the end of each season, it makes the whole ranking aspect feel like an after thought. However, overall this is a video respectful of your time and was very entertaining, like I said I very much enjoyed it.
I finally got around to watching this. For your first ranking video, I enjoyed this a lot! (Probably because I just enjoy this format of video in general but still lol) I've never seen Star Vs. before but this vid singlehandedly made me curious to check it out. Really hoping you'll continue to do more ranking videos in the future! ^^
Wow, I forgot how expressive this show was in its early seasons because of how it looked when it ended, not terrible by any means but man that first season’s animation was just better
Toffee's death was the moment I learned what true disappointment felt like
Agreed, Toffee was my favorite character.

I belive the reason was because the voice actor was diagnosed with cancer and his chances of survival were slim, so they killed him off prematuraly because they thought he would not survive. Thankfully he did, but the damage was already done

Pretty sure that guy was the villain this whole time
@logannottheonefrommarvel9917 imagine if they actually pulled the trigger on that. Mina is the bait-and-switch and Glossaryk becomes the real villain of Season 4.
Imagine having your trusted mentor figure who's been in your family's bloodline for centuries secretly be committing a self-erasure long game to wipe out all magic.

@@goobusmcdoobus2 I don't think S2 and beyond had hand drawn animation, it just looks like stiffer puppet animation. If anything, I think S1 was the only season to use hand drawn (it looks like mostly puppet animation, with hand drawn scenes used here and there for the faster scenes)

That also explains the stupid twist...
The creator stated that Star and Marco's relationship was based on her and her husband's so I think it was.
STFOE was a great show. Such a shame it never got a third season and left us on a cliff hanger 😢
Yeah real
I actually liked s3, but I gotta agree, that it was REALLY hit or miss.

Awesome
The Cartoonshi healing arc has reached its finale. Thanks for all the hard work you’ve been through for our entertainment man. So lucky and happy to be one of your subscribers.
This show's finale was when god left.
God abandoned us when Season 4 was announced.

Like the wise words of Blue Order "A show's finale is what leaves the lasting impact."
This makes me happy that Amphibia, The Owl House and The Ghost and Molly Mcgee had great endings in my opinion.
That why I don't like those shows
Star vs. finale (and GOT finale) was the weirdest gift for my 17th birthday
I feel so sorry for you
Worst birthday present ever. You have my condolences.
Came out on my birthday too🫠
I still can’t believe the Star finale aired on the exact same date as the Game of Thrones finale
It's as if God himself simply declared "Yes. That one. This day in particular is the day of shitty TV show endings."
That should be in the history books

The first season was goated. I really wish they stuck with the bouncy animation, it’s what gave it its charm. Otherwise I feel it fell into decline and I still kinda hate that it ended the way it did to this day.
Star vs is a case of switching animation studios which in this case the studio that animated season 1 (Mercury filmworks, mostly known for Hilda) was changed for what i believe is disney's south korean animation studio SugarCube, and THAT team was switched for Rough Draft Studios (well known for Drawn Toghether).
This is IMO probably one of the best paced ranking videos of them all. Fantastic job.

Can’t believe it was 5 years ago. I remember tuning in to watch the finale the day it came out. Along with that Blue Order video
Same. Watching the show has season 3 and 4 aired was like a fever dream
I learned a valuable lesson today. Lumpy Space Princess is everything Ponyhead wishes she could be
Holy crud. I never realized that Ponyhead is just LSP but somehow even worse.
Ponyhead is Dollar General LSP
LSP can be just as annoying sometimes, but goddamnit she was at least funny. I can't unhear, "These lumps"
LSP is objectively a bad person, but who cares when she’s hilarious?
Of all things, Ludo was definitely my favorite aspect of season 2. I'm a sucker for character arcs where a character develops from being a pathetic joke villain to being a competent threat through their own hard work. It's like an underdog story, something you more frequently see with heroes than villains. Seeing a once pathetic villain actually manage to find success and competence of course makes you worried for the hero, but it's also this weird sense of pride like "yeah, good job! You've earned this!" It makes me weirdly root for the villains in some cases. And Ludo is one of my favorite examples of this, at least in season 2.
Killer Moth needs this
Ludo was one of the very few characters to luckily survive the character assassination of season 4 and actually have a satisfying character arc.
I do have to say i appreciate cartoonshi adding intermission breaks inbetween the segments as someone who struggles keeping track of time or just clicking off its nice being reminded to take a break for a while go eat something or breath and process and then come back its nice
A two and a half hour ranking video of a show I know nothing about? I know how I'm spending my afternoon :)
So much Promise, but there is an old saying: Keep your expectations low and You will never be disappointed.
Remindes me of hazbin hotel, so much promise and cool ideas for such little execution. Edit: this isn't me saying that the show is horrible, its just very lackluster.
Wasn't that phrase in no way home?
@@lylelylecrocodile2538 yeah
My expectations were low for the finale after the dumpster fire of season four, and I wasn't disappointed, I was mad.
I prefer don't have any expectations at all, that's why I enjoyed Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga, despite many pseudo fans says the opposite
Can I just say how much I appreciate your act breaks between seasons. No one else does that and I wish they would. Genuinely so many props to you @Cartoonshi
There’s something poetic about Star Vs. and Game of Thrones ending on the same day…
And both being amazingly shitty, but for entirely different reasons, it's amazing really
It should be in the history books
Sweet your back this time with a longer video
Christ, Wasn’t expecting something this big! Can’t wait to hear you vent about how good it used to be more than the hate!
One problem I have with the series is the confusion (and occasionally negative continuity) in regards to various species. For example:
-Demons and monsters are apparently two different things, since demons are trusted by the royal family, and thanks to The Magic Book of Spells, we know that Celena the Shy was half-demon.

Do you think the crew of Amphibia and the Owl House looked at Star Vs and tried not to make the same mistakes with their finales?
Failure can be a teacher
holy shit. I did not expect you to return to this show. Your first video about svtfoe is one of MY first videos I have watched from you. Interested to see what you have to say about this show again after all these years. (btw I have never watched this show before despite watching tons of review videos of it. I love that the final few episodes were reviewed (almost verbatim) to your original Star VS video. Nice homage to the classic start of the channel.
This couldn’t have been a better timed video! I just rewatched the entire series and seeing it all over again made me feel that frustration of the finale and all it represented all over again :/
I really love how you put breaks between seasonal ranking. It's very nuanced for these ranking videos to allow a perfect place to pause.
Every time I try to remember what happened in season 4, it feels like a fever dream.
It does.
I still find it funny how Star's strongest spell, 'Spider with a Top Hat,' was only useful once, and all the other times he was used, he failed.
Not too shabby my man, can't wait for more ranking videos.
Halfway through this marathon and this is a great deep dive in to this show. Great job dude!

There's other shows with that, also I know a cosplayer who made 5 of her 6 main outfits

The animation quality dip at the halfway point of season 01 is kinda wild.
Just something i noticed as i watch the video
1:52:58 one of my favorite parts of this whole review, I love it and the video itself a ton
“You can’t give the oppressors a legitimate reason to be afraid of who they are oppressing”
I think that was my problem with X men always being praised as such a good prejudice allegory, but at least they have some bigoted humans as villains, SVTFOE never properly did that
I don't agree at all with this opinion the monster racism thing.
@@elsienova4269 In real life, racism and prejudice is stupid and pointless
Right?? Like, I don't remember black/gay/irish/any other minority waking up one day and vaporizing everyone in the city. Mutants SHOULD be kept in check. It's BAD that some people have powers.
@@KaminoKatie ok lol
As awful as Season 4 is, I give it props for 2 things:
1) It was very cool to see it integrate parts of the spell book that came out in real life after Season 3 into the story.
1) that was actually stupid, because not everyone had the book
2) wow.
Adventure Time does that a lot (recontextualising jokes as serious plot points). once they turned an animation error into a plot point
@@thetreyceratops They gave Ice King magic dementia. That was so messed up. I love Adventure Time
Regarding Ludo conveniently ending up on Mewni in Ludo in the Wild: I think the implication is that the green energy that rushes past him and sends him crashing into the planet is in fact a manifestation of Toffee from within the wand, leading Ludo toward the wand to further his plans.

Your videos continue being a delight to watch, I watched the full ranking and loved the retrospective, really entertaining stuff
I think marco fighting the corruption would make sense
At least

I enjoyed this a lot. This defiantly speaks wonders of good writing vs awful writing and lack of consistencies. As a writer I took a lot from this show, It shows both how to do certain things right and how to do those same things wrong just a season later. Star Vs is certainly one of the most odd shows I've seen. If you were to do another ranking I think you should review the episodes in order from worst to best instead of putting the rankings at the end of each season, it makes the whole ranking aspect feel like an after thought. However, overall this is a video respectful of your time and was very entertaining, like I said I very much enjoyed it.
