    I just got home from vacation for a week as well, I go twice to three times a year, so I always let all my plants dry out completely for the week to ten days before I leave, then water the night before I leave. So they are tied over for a week and all needed the drink. That's my routine for when I leave for a week at a time. I don't have anyone to watch my plants, so I had to come up with a way that kept them alive. Hope this helps! Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks for explaining about the Pon mixture. Some amazing results for sure. When using this mixture on Hoyas do you let it dry out completely before watering? Or when using it in general how do you know when to water it? I enjoy all the animal interruptions. One of my kitties is a chocolate Tortie like yours. She is a holy terror!😁

      I typically fill the jars about 1/4 of the way, then don’t water again until I notice all the water is gone.🙌🏼 And yes my cats love to interrupt me! They just can’t leave me alone especially when trying to film!🤣

    Hi. I was wondering if you could share how you clean the aquarium soil. I tried to wash it and it never gets clear. I’ve used all the things you use and my pon looked beautiful and my plants are beautiful. But I got stuck with the soil. I tried everything but i couldn’t get it to work. If you can be so kind and let me know what to do. I bought 3 bags and now I can’t use them. Thanks for sharing your experience with pon. Your plants look so beautiful and healthy.

    Thanks for the tip using the volcanic rock. Heading to petsmart/petco 2mrw to pick some up !! My carnosa compacta is getting repotted as soon as I add this to the mix. Everyone else (my plants babies) has leca, vermiculite, pumice& charcoal mix& thriving .. it scares me to switch my rope to that mix bc we’ve already been through enough lol but yours is THRIVINGGG !! So I’m gonna try adding that volcanic rock. I recently took her out of the greenhouse cabinet, so ive been scared to do anything lately .. is yours living in a greenhouse ?? GORGEOUS pic btw😍😍 &Congrats♥️

    Love everything! Have a question…I potted some of my Hoya cuttings (not very long roots)) in a mix of orchid bark, perlite & loose soil.. want to try your diy mix by adding g lecca & volcanic soil. Do you think it’s ok to re pot them? They’re kind of young? Want them to grow big, beautiful & fast. Thank you

  • @XenaGL
    @XenaGL 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for making this video!! I was struggling to find a good fertilizer which has kept me from using my DIY pon mix, and it addresses my concerns(fish water has algae and would need to be changed more, pellet fertilizers contain microplastics). Just ordered this from a local pet shop with door dash and I cannot wait to try it out!!!!
    Would you mind doing a video showing yourself converting Hoyas from sphag to DIY Pon?

      If I ever have any in spag, yes!! Haha. I don’t like to plant anything in spag, but sometimes when I do order them they will come in it so I will for sure keep this in mind!!!

    Hello, can i ask you, when you have a new Hoya, you rince the roots before you put it in your diy? So my qestion is do you wait before you put it in pon or if not do you water immediatly? Also what is the rate between all the ingredients, 1-1-1 or more? Thank you. Merci beaucoup!

    Is there certain types of plants you know you won't use this mix like calathias? Interested in reporting my Hoyas and other Vining plants. Also do you use any soil with it beside the volcanic soil?

    • @MyPlantedParadise
      @MyPlantedParadise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont use any soil in this mix except the volcanic aquarium soil! I havent tried calatheas yet but I wouldn’t be above trying it!! I have tried a huge variety of plants and haven’t found any that do worse than others. Almost everything I have tried has thrived so far!!

    • @aniliname

      I’ve had a lot of luck with calatheas in pon. The only plant that didn’t work for me was a fittonia but that’s not a big surprise

  • @catsunderfoot
    @catsunderfoot 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I will definitely try this mix. Do you lightly wet the mixture before using it to repot the hoyas? It looks a bit damp. Then from the other questions it looks like you fill container about 1/4 way up when the water is used up.

    • @MyPlantedParadise
      @MyPlantedParadise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it's typically slightly damp! This way I can get most of the dust out before actually putting my plants into the mix!!

    Were your plants originally in soil and do you fertilize them in your diy pon mixture? I would love to transfer my plants over to this kind of mixture.

    • @MyPlantedParadise
      @MyPlantedParadise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some were originally in soil yes! And I do fertilize probably twice a month since I have the Volcanic Soil in my mix, it already has some nutrients in it! If you don’t add any substrate with nutrients you might fertilize/add nutrients once a week!🥰
