I think guys at the top cannot only just defend/protect themselves while grappling but they can also attack/strike in between the scrambles while fighting for position.

    • @gabethomas1946

Ya in between scrambles... Brundage was just laying on his back trying to lock down the position. The first time Cody tried to scramble up Bo subbed him. Bo's fights are going to be fun and high paced when he goes up against some of these monsters in the division who are going to be actually trying to win and arent just going to let another man put them on their back and hold them there

You know you’re the real deal when you absolutely steam roll a guy in the 1st round while threatening a finish damn near the entire time, actually finish him in the 2nd round, and people call you a fraud afterwards
I don’t think people realize how unrealistic it is to be able to finish every fight in 1 minute without getting touched like Bo’s previous matches. And they also don’t realize how hard it is to finish somebody who has completely abandoned any offense and is just focused on being a clam and defending

Henry is most likely talking about how in some dominant positions, Bo couldn’t get anything going ; not just in the instance you mentioned where he had his wrest trapped while they were against the cage, but also when he mounted him center octagon and could not get any offense going. He was only able to maintain the position.

I was actually hoping you would make a video about this exact topic for the last couple days now. I’ve been thinking about Bo. And you need to have a serious talk about this with Bo. He needs to absolutely be ready for the top 10 mentally. I think he’s there physically. It’s committing 100% and being 1,000,000,000% focused. This is fighting bad things can happen and he needs to be ready and not rush the fights in the top 10. Take the ones he knows he can win. Don’t mess around. And secure the championship, if that’s his goal. With game plans and everything else you need to do to win. Studying opponents. And they won’t be easy. He needs to be completely ready. And he’s reaching the top. It’s about time. It’s about crunch time. Do, or die.

I agree. I like Bo and enjoyed his last fight but certian points of that fight if he had been fighting a top 10 he'd have been in real trouble. If they push him to fast it'll be a repeat of Sage. I'm not opposed to them put lower ranked guys high on a card because I understand they are building long term stars meant for watching em grow but obviously trynna cash out at the same time. Basically they are short cutting Nate Diaz / diago Sanchez type stars. It's gonna be a slow going fursure

    • @kev30631

He would be taking less criticism than he's taking now for the fact he beat a top 10 guy. He's taking criticism because it's perceived he struggled against a jobber he was suppose to beat on a big stage. If you replace the names and insert a familiar one, we wouldnt be hearing this noise.

We all know Bo Nickal would be middleweight champion right now if they would let him fight top 10 guys. The UFC just wants him to stick around and "pay his dues" for a certain length of time before they give him the big money fights. Nickal would take Strickland down quite easily and control him on the ground. Strickland can stand there throwing jabs and teeps all day long but he won't be able to do anything on the ground against a wrestler of Nickal's calibre.

Bo's fight was boring and lasted as long as it did bcuz his opponent was not trying to win... Bo is good enough of a grappler to capitalize on openings and get to his submissions or ground and pound. Brundage however, was just trying to lock down the position while laying on his back. This isn't bjj where you can choose to concede the advantageous position for 15 minutes and still win a judges decision... If Cody was giving action and EVEN ATTEMPTING to be actively NOT LOSING, Bo would've been able to get him out of there much sooner. Which is exactly what happened when Cody Brundage rolled through trying to stand up and "win" (not lose) for the first time in the fight. Bo's fights are going to be fun and high paced when he goes up against some of these monsters in the division who arent just going to let another man put them on their back and hold them there

Bo hits hard and his punches almost always land. His fists are like heat-seeking missiles.
And no opponent dares try to take it to the ground.
If he shoots his mouth off, I don't even pay attention to that. Fighters need to spout off to promote themselves in today's game.
Bo will prove Chael wrong. _Bo Knows Knockouts_

Ten more fights is like saying 3-4 more years. That's too long.to enter the top ten. It's fine if you become the Champion at age 32 or even the top 5, but you would want to defend it for a few fights and it would take a few fights to get the title shot. I would say one year would be fast, but possible, if you entered the top ten and won three good fights. That would make you a Champ at age 32, and you could defend that twice a year for a bit. But there is also the possibility that you enter the top ten at age 31 and get in line waiting your turn for 4 years, and you are now 35 years old, expected to be on the decline already. Bo needs to be a little more assertive about his goals and willing to make himself vulnerable to chance and risk. The others are.

As a former wrestler with no where near as good of credentials as Bo I’m competing in jujitsu and have to pull back a ton with training due to my body already being broken down from wrestling so I imagine Bo probably isn’t able to go in every day and train balls to the wall. Let him take his time.

Bo was the biggest favorite in UFC history for the second time in a row. So yes he's absolutely expected to maul them like Khamzat did to Li and Holland. Brundage isn't ranked and got a lucky win by DQ against malkoun. This should have been over in 30 seconds if Bo was as good as the hype

He has heard of a armbar triangle Was it a armbar or a triangle? Not the foggiest idea or why it matter Never understood the expression. Some times within a moral victory which is to extend the time of the match it's not to reverse and or change the outcome it's just to extend the inevitable people thought I would not be able to make it a minute I made it an entire round people didn't think I could make it a round I can make it all 5 rounds and send this to the judges. Its doesn't change the domination. Or the moral victory if you get subbed by in the closing minutes. Even if its the very same sub that tends get you

Chael doesn't understand all these differences between rings and cages and sizes of cages etc because he is a elite wrestler. No matter who he fights he has the same game plan. Go forward push the pace and wrestle. Because of that all those differences don't matter to him. But to other fighters of different skill sets they do matter.

The moral victory is for the loser or the non favourite. Gaethje could be said, achieved a moral victory against Max. He was completely outstrategised and outclassed, got injuries early to battle through, and still managed to give everyone the show of five rounds. Agreed to go swinging in the final ten seconds. The winner, wins, and whilst they can also achieve a moral victory - how they went about it, or came from behind, etc, but that wasn't a moral victory from the UFC pet. Why not? Because he was fighting a can who is also a quitter. Brundage showed how that plays. It's not worth the struggle anymore, just happy to be there, don't need the win, I'm tired, I give up.
Your boy Bo said it himself with his two thumbs down. Why did he do that? Was he lying? Was he just pretending he sucks to appease the crowd who thought he sucked? But he's ready to sign up to the Conor card. So rinse and repeat. Keep fighting opposition that isn't a real test, keep showing how far from comprehensive MMA he is in the meantime, not providing the entertaining fight to compensate. Why didn't he stay on the feet? Ugly, amateurish, but they were nigh on equal on the feet. To learn to be better at striking, even when it gets hard, he chose not to. He ran away from the learning experience. And gave the crowd a tedious greenhorn fight on the ground with an opponent who forgot he could throw blows. He was a coward. That's what we can glean. And he belongs in the prelims until he isn't a coward and learns his craft properly.
(And this protection of a record with 0 losses is a wanq. He'd learn a hell of a lot more going up against solid strikers and stay with them. That they are already conceding he needs years and years and lots and lots more fights before he's anywhere near elite, so take the losses and learn something... and hey ho, it might be an entertaining fight, because he'll bring the qualities he has already established, that we aren't seeing - determined, never say die, keep thinking, keep pushing... he's done that in wrestling, but doesn't want to do it on the feet. He's a bore and always will be with this silly cotton wool attitude to his career. He needs to want to be thrown to the wolves. Not the alpha wolf, but the solid mid pack wolves that will challenge him as a striker and he learns how to win on the feet - against real competition.)

I think Bo has developed a narrative that he's only fighting jobber's. That his reputation is being built by the UFC. Therefore any perceived resistance in a fight is deemed as a failure on Bo's part.
That's why he needs to destroy that narrative and call out names or ask UFC for specific named guys .

  • @LXIXTurner

    I said the same thing
He couldnt finish the sub, he didnt know how to choke Cody. He had no idea what to do once his opponent got to the ground, all he knows is take down and pin. He doesnt routinely practice BJJ nearly as much as American style wrestling. That does help in MMA, but that’s WHEN you learn to transition those maneuvers into a different sport. He’s skilled, but has no idea how to finish a fight. Just hopes and dreams that he can get a KO
