Pool School : Breaking Down Pool Equipment and Restarting

In this video we discuss taking apart your equipment. Breaking down your pool equipment in order to clean your filter is a pretty simple process if you follow these basic steps. The frequency will be based on how dirty your pool is and in turn how dirty your filter gets.

You should never run a pump against closed valves

Its a centrifugal pump. Its alright to run it like that briefly. If left closed for a long period, the pump would overheat and probably melt the glue joints on pvc pipe.

you turn on the main drain so it drains at the same time?

Prime back up on the skimmer only at first. Then introduce the other suction line.

No check valve between heater and salt cell.

Thats only needed if you have a puck feeder, not a salt cell.
