      I am not sure how this works. Do the players have a say. Can they refuse the offer sheet? @@darpompie4354 Players do have a say. They can decline the offer sheet and we likely never here about it. In this case both players have agreed and signed the offer sheet meaning the Oilers now have a week to match the offers. A theory I heard was that the Blue's were talking with Broberg's and Holloway's agents since July 1st so both players simply refused to sign new contracts until the offer sheet was finalized.

      @@thaneoffife6904 Ahhh... That makes sense. In that case, they are both too young and naive to realize that you don't get too many chances at a cup and to play with great players. They decided to play the short game. Take what you can get now and hope for the best later. Reality is, they will regress on the Blues and their next contract will be much lower than they would have got if they stayed on the Oilers. A net loss and no cup for them. A lot of UFA's come to the Oilers to sign a one year deal cheap so that they can pump up their stats and make a payday on their next contract. These kids did not establish themselves playing with the best players in the league to earn even half of what they were offered, good luck to the players and to the St. Louis organization. I see a lot of frustration ahead for both parties.
      Would have liked to keep them both and continue their development with high end talent, but at those dollars, I also say "bye, I wish you the best". Oilers need to worry about winning now and resigning the stars we have. This will allow the oilers to have cap space to get a couple of proven players. I heard Toews wanted to try out for a PTO. rather have him then Holloway for a year we are going for the cup. Maybe, there is also a good D man that wants to sign cheap for a year to go for a cup. This may be a blessing in disguise by giving us some cap room down the stretch with the added bonus of some draft picks.

    Thats a rock and a hard place for sure, we need dylan's depth at forward and he was developing nicely. I'm pretty confident he stays, not sure what an offer sheet really means at the end of the day is'nt it the players decision? or are there player's union rules that say you have to take higher offer? Again confident dylan stays if it's his decision but broberg tough to say, does he wanna go to a rebuilding team or try and win now? If he stays and wins a cup he can punch his ticket anywhere he wants to go. At 4 mill per season not sure if the oilers would match broberg, but the need on the oilers is more for him then dylan sadly. Well it's time for Stan Bowmen to shine and think of a way out of this mess, thats why we hired him right? I'd prefer to keep both if possible but not at that price.

    I'm surprised people don't talk about the players more in offer sheets, they have the choice to accept or decline the offer sheet, if they accept and are willing to leave why would you want that person in your organization, they could have had more talks and got a deal done but instead are fine with f*cking over your organization...

    Im gonna go out on a limb and say the Oilers will try to trade Darnell Nurse in the coming says to get out of this pickle and take a chance on Brogerg continuing to play like he did in the playoffs, in my opinion he was better than Nurse. Or they could look to trade kane (or put him on ltir) and trade ceci. To me holloway and broberg are worth keeping though its a big payday for broberg but if he plays like he did in the playoffs he could take nurse's role if not its only 2 years.

      @brianlb78 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@curtismah1261 Guys sign early all the time, in fact it happens more often than it doesn't. At the end this coming season the Blues and him will more than likely have a deal worked out or they will know if they are far apart or not in which case they will just just tender him and let someone offer sheet him and take the pic or they can trade his rights to someone which is a more likely scenario if he doesn't sign and that's a big if because the Blues will have plenty of space. And just because you offer sheet a guy doesn't mean he has to sign it and it also doesn't mean you get him. The reason why this happened is because the Oilers let this go on until mid August. If they focused on these guys right after the playoffs ended like they should have then they wouldn't be in this situation.
