    In the gacha version you can disable the auto aim and use a manual aim system somewhat like the MercurySteam Metroid games, so I assume OffDive here would have that as an option somewhere.

      I wish it was more like the MercurySteam Metroids, X DiVE's dual stick is so much clunkier. The option to disable it is fully intact in Offline though.

    The main draw for me always was the unlockable content.
    I think I'll be happy with it even with it's dumbed down gameplay cuz it is a mobile game after all.
    To be honest I wish this would be standard practice whenever a live-service game gets discontinued.
    I can only hope Digital Extremes does the same to Warframe cuz that game has LOTS of content and story that is perfectly playable solo.

    • @meyers0781
      @meyers0781 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      See? That's what i think as well. They need to do something like this to Warframe because the more the game proceed the more abusive the gameplay are. Sure back then there's defenders saying "it's not pay2win it's space trading blablablablabla"
      But:
      There's grinding to unlock primes and then grinding the materials and then waiting for it to "primed" aaargh.
      They add the "Riven" upgrade card mechanic to uncap the card and introduce OP effects but that became pay2win as unlocking the Rivens require the players to do nigh-impossible feats.
      There's also Kuva Lich and Sisters of Parvos, which reduces your rewards until you grind harder and guess to find the way to beat them and choose between taking their weapons or making them join you.
      After hooked for 434 hours in the span of 2017-2019, i stopped. Nowadays it remains as the longest hour of all my Steam games.

    I spent a lot of time (and money uuuuugh) on the original version and I'm actually completely okay with the offline version not allowing you to transfer data, since progression is about 1000 times faster. I've gotten a higher power level in 30 hours than I was able to in the 300+ hours I spent in the Gacha version, not to mention unlocking nearly every character and weapon.
    I do think this game is missing some key features, namely the ability to reassign manual aim, as well as an option to disable auto aim, which was in the original version, but isn't in the Offline version for some reason. I also hope a modder can come in and clean the controls up just a bit. The fact that tapping the jump button gives you a max height jump every time is really annoying.
    Also, the menu theme being the character select song from X4 is such a horrible choice. Idk why they didn't just use the menu theme from the Gacha version. The 5 second loop is insanely grating after a while.

    Still better than the “free” to play version where the devs and publishers were relying solely on people spending thousands of dollars on these games to keep the servers and future content going otherwise if they had made no profits on them then the online version of Megaman X dive would’ve ended years ago.
    I’ll gladly take the offline preserved version without the ridiculous predatory gacha and RNG system from the online only “free” version of the game where it could take you months to a whole year to get all the stuff you want unlocked without paying additional money for a CHANCE to get them alongside not having to deal with the horribly structured unbalanced PVP mode where half the time people are AFK anyways.

    Sorry you didn't like. I personally love it a lot, 80 hours in, still enjoying and finding new ways to play, unlocking stuff, just wish the story was better written. Also since its just a port game, I assume the little bugs I found will never get fixed. That said, since I'm still putting hours into it and enjoying the game, its well worth the money for me.

  • @1dayago843
    @1dayago843 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The gameplay options like turning off the auto aim can't be found in the main options menu, you actually have to be in a stage and press (your version of) Select.
    I actually use Steam Input to change a few things like making the manual aiming be tied to my Up Button so I can aim upwards for those hard to reach enemies.
    But yeah this game is super clunky, that is literally the best word to describe how the game feels especially compared to other Mega Man games. Funnily enough the game plays a lot like Mega Man X7's 2d sections even down to the auto aiming.
    Hopefully mods can fix these issues and we can get the true X DiVE we always wanted.

    I will try ot out one day. It seems interesting. I'm not shocked those people didn't get to keep all their unlockables. Mobile games are like MMOs. Once the service is shut down.. it's gone forever. I see them as an tv show. I play it for a couple of seasons & then i switched to a different one. That's just how online games are. It's rare for one to last five years. WOW been around since i was in jr high (2003). Or maybe before that too. But that kinda of stuff is rare. Most online games never last that long

      Yup, meanwhile you can farm hundreds of characters on coins alone for offline, even if it would be a hilarious prod if they kept a `coin based gacha` so off-line play could let you do the same gag as `Genshin Wish Simulator` so your playing the equilvency of a rogue`like to challenge yourself a smidge. Such as only farming previous stages whenever you fail the latest stage.
      Guess people can always spin a paper wheel for that fix of silly.

    • @BladeSerph
      @BladeSerph ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I mean the offline version technically gutted the gacha elements and mobile game elements and if its a 5 GB sized title you can play anywhere without needing a network connection, could be a good time killer. Though its a shame they axed the collab-specific content, but i assume that part of the reason could be since they were limited time only content only, if they even had reruns to allow chasing the collab content to begin with.
      So i would likely compare it to the `Console version` of battle cats which was also a revamped off-line playable version of a mobile game.
      Snatching it up on discount would probably be the way to go, but its likely more marketed to those who won`t have the copium regrets of being deep into the online version, but would be better for those who wanted to play, but didnt want to deal with the retarded level of daily shenigans.
      Seriously, the ridiculous commitment to the PvP specific daily content was what drove me away before i locked it to a secondary time killer title for me. Excessive Daily burn out seems to be what always kills mobile game hype for me most of the time.

    • @Chronuz
      @Chronuz ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @BladeSerph
      @BladeSerph ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean, if it does not have all the loading hook ups, you dont have to be goaded into spending `additional micro transactions`, because it no longer needs that `online service only requirement`, it already sounds like a more enjoyable experience.
      Another thing that kills `online service games` is having too much `lag` between stages, menu hopping and so on.
      It would be more nice if more EoS games got offline formats, but some games would require too much work to revamp ALOT more elements to fit that(Even worst if they have a un-optimized bloatware size they would need to funnel into a package then use a server for it instead). Which could lead to them just demanding 60 dollars, or splitting things up into DLC `packs` to pay for the `remastering` expenses.
      Plus, if its a permanently offline format, that just opens things up for modding for the dedicated fans.
      Seriously, its definitely a much better deal then those single player games that either demand a perpetual internet connection to even play on a console game or forces micro transactions into a single player game, even going as far to have `paid gacha` in said single player game. @@Chronuz

    those character anims on the select screen are pure (non pervy) fanservice. As a mm fan I'm keeping my eye on it, but as a longtime gamer, yeah the simplified combat would probably affect long time enjoyment
    I'm also worried that it's still time-grindy (this is the other half of fixing a gatcha. Part 1 is getting rid of the paid main currency, but part 2 is getting enough of said main currency to efficiently enough, get what you want, without costing too much time. Time cost is expensive, the older you get, the more valuable time is), since that is non-ideal and still a cost to me (though I'm glad the char unlocks sound like they happen frequently enough)

    Let's not pretend we don't know why these free games are free in the first place. It's completely understandable why they want to charge for this version the only problem is the price point being about 10-15 dollars more than it should be. In its original state and other games like it it's 100% appropriate to have that kind of monetization. People gotta make their money somehow they only make it free for ease of access. I think it's kinda ridiculous that the stigma of microtransactions has reached a point where it's demonized even for the free games it belongs in. If a triple a game you payed for to begin with has microtransactions you can be mad but not here.

    I got this to play on my steam deck and it plays pretty well. I never really got into the gotcha version and this is pretty much a fan service game so far. Best parts for me are no micro transactions and no need to log in daily like you would with a normal gotcha game or you lose out on rewards. I got it cause I was curious but I do agree with you if someone can wait for a steam sale on it I would.

      That's the risk they take with gacha games, these getting out of service happens all the time.
      Except that normally the game disappears forever, in this case they should consider themselves lucky that they can keep playing.
      This should be common practice when gacha games close.
      At the very least i hope that makes people more mindful about spending money on such games knowing it could be gone just like that.

    I hear the sentiment that "This should be the standard for games going EOS". But its honestly the bare minimum. Or depending on your standards, worse than the bare minimum. First of all lets get this out of the way, even if Capcom didn't see the worth in continuing service, theres no doubt that this game was PROFITABLE (atleast in 2021), as in it paid itself off in spades. So when I see a 30 dollar price tag, I feel like I shouldn't be paying for the content that ALREADY exist in the game. Of course it takes money to rebalance and retrofit a title like this... but what did they really do? Well they removed whole characters, coop and pvp, and whole stages and bosses tied to those online functions. You're paying 30 dollars for 70% of a FREE game. And I know no game is free, removing F2P mechanics warrants charging the new adopters something, but I really want to emphasize not only is it not upgraded or remastered, its LESS.
    And I get that some players of the original will actually say "well it not that bad of a value" but I can't really ascribe to that, because often times thats in reference to the theoretical price it would cost to grind for characters. But F2P is in a sense a form of crowd funding, they aren't expecting everyone to pay for that character, but they ARE expecting the ones who do to play A LOT. Thats why its done through gacha and not flat rates like normal video game expansions and DLC, it kills two birds with one stone. Paying players whale, and F2P players spend more time grinding to maintain player count and engagement. That why I feel confident in saying, as someone who has dumped enough time into Genshin Impact, that at the very least I expect that 30 dollar asking price to cover a FULL retro fit of EVERY feature for offline play, but more realistically at that price, MORE.

    In those games you could easily spend $30 just to MAYBE get 1 character you want against terrible odds.
    Some dudes spend $300 per month in gacha games which is crazy to me. (And thats supposedly rookie numbers, insanity)

    In my opinion the game was just bad the online version at least. I think it's starts off good but after the 3rd world the game falls of a cliff. the game suddenly gets extremely unfair and cheap. the enemies start almost one shoting you even with upgrades and they start making you play that hard more versions of the stages witch is just padding. the story also isn't interesting and they really don't do anything interesting with the concept. the writing blows. the translation isn't even that good. the game makes the twist the via obvious but they stretch it out to the near the end of the game. also this game doesn't keep track if you've done certain events or story beats. witch lead to situations where the character's will talk about things that haven't happend yet. or even in the story were the game assumes you were there for certain events. leaving gaps in the story. the level does nothing interesting mostly just being enemy spam and there aren't really any gimmicks. and there either way too easy of unfairly hard with random difficulty spikes. the bosses are also either way too easy or go on forever one of the bosses took like 40 minutes to beat. grinding for a chance to get a character isn't worth it since they often end up worst then the character you already have. and they really are just skins. maybe in the online version it suddenly becomes an amazing game. but the online version has honesty killed any interest in me playing it and if it didn't the price tag did 30 dollars it is not worth.

    New business model, if the game sells well. Milk your customers dry with the mobile version, get the game to some kind of a finished status, end the servers and then re release the game as a offline version, with little game dev effort.
    Then again there are a few mobile games i would love to see as a offline version when they reach end of service.
    Dragalia Lost, and there are probably many Fate Go Fans out there who would love a complete version without the gacha.

      This is extremely wrong. There was quite a big overhaul making it offline mode, the guy who made the video and many online players can't seem to wrap their head around how many things were changed with offline mode.
      -rebalancing for practically ALL weapons, chips, and cards
      -added some events to adjust/go along with story
      -while they gutted all the pvp and co-op, they also added a new time attack mode
      -changed how the hidden elements are hidden (combined both hard+normal version, so now you get usually one more hidden element in a normal run)
      -added challenge mode which gives it more of a traditional feel
      -despite what people say, you CAN turn off auto aim, I'm just adding this because I've seen several comments say you can't
