I am only 2:32 in and am so grateful you are sharing your progression with us. I subbed last weekend and with your help I should be starting my second business before winter. Thank You!
Hey Chase, Its me again! Im now 6 months in!! Gold Star Seller, and even selected by TCG to participate in a growth and acceleration program. I am 3 meetings in, and just newly accepted for TCG Pro. I am doing bulk, but for the time being I have a .25 cent floor. I usually get a bunch of add ons to get a total over $5. My next goal is to get to Direct, but for the time being, I need to learn this stuff.
Cool Video! LOVE how easy it is to set-up website through TCGPlayer! You'll have to keep us updated on how website sales go compared to normal TCGPlayer Sales!
That's exactly why I did it - I knew I was at the point where I could just try it out, but I've been just wondering and thinking about it and not getting up the gumption for a while now. Glad it's helped you out!
I went pro to explore the website feature. I literally turned it on 5 minutes before shooting this, so that I could set it all up at first glance. I'm also planning to explore a couple other features of Pro Seller. And, since most of my transactions are so small, 1.5% is a very small cost to check it all out
If you wanted to start selling bulk now and you only have a small inventory or none at all, how would you begin? Assuming MTG, would you try to focus on what is in Standards current rotation or just take what you can get? Any rough amounts of each set you would want to reach first if focusing on Standard or does it not matter that much? Would you buy shipping supplies as you go or start with a bulk amount (starting with say one or two rolls of stamps [plus matching amount of envelopes, shipping shields, sleeves, etc] vs ten)? Sorry for the many questions but I wanted to make sure I was as clear as possible with what I meant by "how would you begin?".
I'm looking to do a big "how to get started with bulk" video in the very near future, so keep an eye out for it for more details than I can go into here. But for your questions: recently released sets are what you'll mostly likely have an easy time picking up, and it will likely have a bit higher demand on those less desirable cards. So definitely not bad to get new standard or new specialty release bulk. I wouldn't be too bothered about trying to get a certain amount of any particular set and then not getting any more. For supplies, I try to follow a "two is one, one is none" rule - I try to have enough supplies at least to meet my immediate foreseeable needs twice over, just in case something happens. If sales spike or I can't get a supply order in fast enough, I'll still be able to operate
Buy bulk locally or online and try to get it as cheap as possible, buy 500-1000 envelopes or more for the cheapest per envelope price you can find, same could be said for the rest of the supplies. Shipping shields are cheaper than toploaders and card savers but imo it doesn't present well to the customer so I would suggest not using them.
@@TachibanaTengoku Thanks for the reply. I should mention that I do currently sell on TCGPlayer and have for a bit over a year now, but it was mostly sealed or the non bulk singles I got from opening sealed product. I have been using shipping shields for almost a year and so far no one has complained. In fact one person even messaged me after their order was delivered to say thanks as well as to ask where I got "those sweet cardboard envelopes". I will agree somewhat that it may be a bit alarming at first sight but in the testing I've done they're just as good as toploaders and I am fully confident in them as a result. I do use toploaders for the more expensive singles however but that has more to do with their value and wanting to better protect them vs just being in a sleeve or a box while they wait to be shipped to whoever buys them.
@@TCGBulkKings Thanks for responding. I would really appreciate that video! I have been selling sealed/non bulk from stuff I've opened over the last year but bulk was something I was not sure how to handle (especially when some stuff is just a few pennies, things just weren't adding up as to why anyone would do that). Then in some way I found myself watching a couple videos from Card n All Gaming where you were mentioned and things started to make a lot more sense from there. Hoping to meet all the requirements for Direct by the end of May (already Level 4 but I did take a break for a couple months, just in general not only in regards to selling).
Glad I've been a useful source of info for you! Keep an eye out for that upcoming video, for sure. And, yeah, I really like the Shipping Shields. I honestly feel like they are a better product specifically for shipping than toploaders or semi-rigid card holders. I've only ever had one complaint, and it was on a damaged order that would have been damaged either way. And I get way fewer returns from USPS because of envelopes getting stuck in their sorting machines. Keep it up, Leo! Glad you've got the spirit!
So, I just hit Seller Level 4. Do I have to wait a bit for Pro Store to pop up? Also, I don't see anything where I can change to Dynamic Shipping lol. Are there just other thresholds I haven't met yet?
You don't get an option to change to dynamic shipping, you just get the option to set shipping fees to zero, it does the rest for you. For Pro Seller, you have to fill out an application form, I found it in the help files. I feel like it should be more prominent, but maybe I just overlooked it and backdoored my way in
What are the benefits of having a pro seller account vs just selling on the marketplace? I’m trying to find a more beneficial way of selling because TCGplayer fees after shipping is killing me.
You get access to additional tools like MassPrice and the website that you can market people towards. Anyone who purchases through the website pays the same price as they would if they bought from you through TCGplayer's marketplace, but your fees are significantly lower. There are also other additional features that you can use that are best if you are also operating a Brick and Mortar store along with your online business
@@TCGBulkKings Thanks for replying back. The last time I checked TCGplayer’s site it looked like they took a bigger percentage for being a pro seller than what they do for just selling on the marketplace. Maybe I’m confused on how it all works…
They don't charge the TCGplayer portion of the fees when you sell through the website. Still charge the processing fee, still charge the Pro Seller fee, but not the largest portion of the fee being that the purchase happened through the TCGplayer marketplace rather than your pro website
They will default to the same prices, unless you specifically change the prices away from your Marketplace prices. Then, when you change one, you have to change the other, either manually or with the MassPrice tool.
My TCGplayer account is hidden I shipped all my orders I sent the message to the buyers asking them if they could give me feedback when they get their order I was just wondering what it will take to get it cut back on
Are you asking how to unhide your inventory? There should be a clickable 'Edit' link next to the word 'Hidden' on your main Seller Portal page, click it and change it to 'Live'

It’s worth the views
Hi! My pricing floor is $.05, which is still making money through the Direct program, or it only takes a few such cards on a single order I have to ship out personally to get past break even. The losing orders are far outweighed by the profiting orders
What's the best way to add inventory? Do you use the inventory tab or do you upload csv files? Also I have 57,000 cards listed currently but I've found that when I check the physical cards verse the listed inventory they don't always match. Not sure if its a software glitch with tcgplayer or user error on my side. (feels like a software problem because they have me selling cards that don't show up as me adding them when I run the audit reports) Any suggestions on a quick way to double check physical inventory with listed inventory? I have another 200k cards to list and need to speed things up.
Hey Tim! I use the Pricing tab, which you should have access to with that kind of inventory, lol. I haven't had any inventory glitches - whenever my inventory is off it can clearly be traced to human (i.e., my own) error. If you are importing, then maybe there's some issue in which the CSV file is being misinterpreted because of colons or something, I've heard of stuff like that happening I audit my sets as I add to them. I'm adding in say 2k of Throne of Eldraine cards to my existing inventory. On the Pricing tab, you have to put in how many you HAVE, not how many you are ADDING, so that makes it easy for me to just go ahead and count what I already have. I could just add the additional number to what's on the computer, but this way I keep from having to do a big damn physical inventory count every few months. Hope that helps!
It's hard. I haven't really tried very hard, but I do occasionally get a few orders through there. If I were to go hard with marketing it, I might have more success
I would start locally - check with your friends/playgroup, maybe see if your LGS has some unsorted bulk they want out of, look around on Facebook or Mercari for local deals
Direct has a bit more requirements - lvl 4 seller, usually around $600 in sales per week, and/or a huge inventory. Have to apply through the website and they'll reach back out to you to tell you if you're accepted
Hey my friend, firstly thanks for free knowledge. Could you please share something about number? I see that you have 7,000 unique items on tcg listed. How many total counting multiples is that? Also you sold 650 in past 30 days. Is it 650 total cards or total orders? What 650 sales can equal to? I see some big sellers have 10,000 sold in 30 days. Can you give some approximately how mu h cN you make on tcg with 10,000 sold in 30 days? Are you planning to invest money in sorting robot? Thanks
