#chopinwaltz What I love about Chopin, especially in waltzes like this, is the spirit conveyed through them. This waltz is very light, cheerful and has a happy, dancing tone throughout. It almost reminds me of the Minute Waltz, where Chopin was inspired by a little dog prancing around. I love to play this waltz frequently as it is also very nostalgic, in the sense that I used to listen to it when I was small. It goes from a very light beginning, to a more slow, melodious middle section, to a small melancholic minor staccato/acciacatura part, then a repeat, then back to the original theme, and in the end, a grand finale to finish it all. I just wish that Chopin had composed many more happy, joyful pieces like this. You also did a great job trying to capture the lively character of this piece, Annique! Hope to see more.
It is such a relief to see you struggle with this one. My mom was a very good sight reader and that's always been my benchmark, but I am so glad to know that it is no shame to not have all the notes right straight away. #Chopinvalse I love this bright and happy waltz, and played it somewhat but never studied it properly. Chopin has this combination of catchy tunes with interesting harmonies and clear moods, and watching this channel has made me play his work again.
To anyone struggling to learn Chopin's pieces, just keep at it! You will get there if you want it and keep putting in the effort. Maybe not in one hour, but you'll get there. My first Chopin piece took three months, the second took a few weeks. Selection is key. I should have played the E minor Prelude before the Minute Waltz but I wanted the Minute Waltz, so it took months instead of weeks. I'm playing some exercises to prepare for Etude Op. 10 number 1 and one day I want to play the Ab Polonaise, but in the meantime I'm working on this Waltz and it's going well. Playing Chopin's music is world changing. My left finger 5 is now a beast of a bass player. My left hand is much more solid overall and I can finally play decent trills. If you're a pianist and an appreciator of Chopin's music, I highly encourage you to power through! If the suggested fingerings don't work for you, find ones that do. Watch performances, master classes and tutorials. Ask other pianists for input.

W...A...Y back in the 1950's when I was a tyke, it was common here in America, ( well, at least the Philadelphia area) for parents to send their children to the 'catilion danc schools' where we all learned to waltz, Rhumba, Chacha, etc. Those days are LONG gone, and I have forgotten everything I ever learned.

I learned a few of the easier ones, Op. 69 No. 2, Op. 70 No. 2, and the minute waltz. It took me months and I never got close to playing any of them error-free. What you achieved in an hour is awesome.
i started piano this year but absolutely love it. i have an awesome teacher and just love to practice and play. i havent played a lot of Chopin, i have only played 2 preludes (op.28 no 4 and no 7) and cant say anything about his waltzes yet except from that they sounds awesome. i would love to play more of his music and i get better. i am currently playing a piece which is the first classical piece i actually listened to knowing that it is classical music and a piece that is still one of my favorites: Arabesque no 1 from Debussy. awesome video btw, always so much fun to watch your 1min 10min 1hour challenges! #Chopinvalse

He works out of a jazz club in Greenwich Village. The club has a jazz band, with real musicians. The percussionist is Johnny Williams, the father of the composer John Willians. But although I'm a more epic "Rockstá" Romantic, this softness and intimacy of Chopin's works help me in my intimate moments. Both the happy and the sad ones. Sometimes I feel happy or sad and I don't know how to express myself. Hear a Chopin piece. But, of course, I love this specific piece. It brings cherish moments of my Childhood. I remember as it happened yesterday, as I watched Tom & Jerry and this piece started playing. Every time that episode played, a smile appeared on my face.
That was a remarkable result for only 1.5 hours of preparation. Almost seems like it would be performance ready within 2-3 days of practice; however, I suspect she would practice it for many weeks before playing it in public. I'd be interested in knowing how long the preparation process really lasts . . .

LoL, years ago my teacher tooked My waltzer copy (founded almost new in a flea market), those days he studied for piano concert, and gave me back the copy, my copy, plenty of use and notations! (cause he used that edition with his teacher in universidad de Chile) with the time I learnt to appreciate A LOT those notes. This waltz was my first learned waltz!, nowadays Im learning a jewel that I'm repentant to not having learned those years, Waltz in A minor, B. 150, Op. Posth, sound easy and is pretty brief, but like the jewel it is, need a lot of detailed attention, many as the Brilliantes. I'm still using my, now very old and used, plenty of notations copy #Chopinvalse #Chopinwaltz

#ChopinWaltz, Chopin in the Minor Key makes my unemotional ass actually feel things I been suppressing, Chopin speaks to me as a Human more than A Musician, Chopin has a good set of crawl up into a Ball and surrender to emotions pieces. Also with Dancing, I feel like thats just an intrinsic part of music you learn, yes there are specific dance moves to learn some more advanced and some more casual but regardless on a Normal Human Level everyone can dance, even if you can’t dance thats a dance lmao. Can you dance to the point where people don’t think its irregular? is more of the question I guess lol but even then some people just don’t care if you can dance well but more so want you to enjoy the music with ya whole body like me. You'll get better at those left-hand jumps if you practice with ragtime or stride piano works. Fun stuff, too.

I have been learning this piece lately and the big jumps were a bit of a struggle for me too, specially near the end! I was so happy when you uploaded the video, as everyone has something new to add. I would love to see a complete performance!

Also with Dancing, I feel like thats just an intrinsic part of music you learn, yes there are specific dance moves to learn some more advanced and some more casual but regardless on a Normal Human Level everyone can dance, even if you can’t dance thats a dance lmao. Can you dance to the point where people don’t think its irregular? is more of the question I guess lol but even then some people just don’t care if you can dance well but more so want you to enjoy the music with ya whole body like me. How old are you? Your sight-reading is OK but it can go to another level. Improve your recognition span. You have a pretty good technique. I gave this piece to a student of mine for a competition. She won, I prayed for her.

Funnily enough, I did not that this masterpiece was by Chopin! I remember listening to this piece and a variation on it composed by a friend of mine, but it never occurred to me as the style of Chopin. I love the quirkiness of this piece and how it transcends one into a bliss of joy and enthusiasm - it truly is a waltz! #Chopinvalse
