  • Today we will be demonstrating how to measure, cut, and bend a piece of EMT conduit to your desired length and angle.
Begin by measuring the length of conduit that you will need.
Next, you will need to measure the amount of extra conduit length required, also known as “deduct length”, as you lose some length due to the conduit bend.
After determining the amount of “deduct” length and cutting to the size necessary, you should remove burrs from the cut end of the conduit using a conduit reamer or knife.
Your bender will typically have three or four distinctive marking features, 10,45,60, and 90.
Slide the conduit into the bender leaving the appropriate amount past the arrow on the bending shoe.
Now, pull the bender handle towards you to create the bend with a firm and steady motion to avoid any kinks or crimps in the conduit.
Bend until you have reached your desired corner angle.

Racoons heads are about 4 inches. They can squeeze into places as small as their heads.
The human *hole can expand up to 8 inches
Which means you can squeeze 2 racoons up there at the same time!
      Now you know something
      ~you're welcome.

Star mark ...mark at actual length
      Stub height use deduction calc
So depends on what easier if you need a 5 in 90 for half inch you don't wanna bend 10 ft of pipe in the air so you'd use your deduct

  • @xrunningincircles
    @xrunningincircles ปีที่แล้ว +2

I came here to figure out how far away from the end of the pipe I have to put my bender to get a 46.75" length and a 24" length and I still have no idea because you didn't provide any of the valuable information except for how much extra I have to have.

I feel like just bending first and then measuring and cutting from the already bent conduit would be much faster and easier. I'm no expert tho.

Are these benders good? I’m from the UK and done my time with an industrial firm, and worked industrial and commercial since. Not once in my 10 years on site have I seen one of these. Are they a USA thing?

You said use a pencil he used a permittee marker is that allowed? Will that mess up the bend. Is the motion like a pogo stick, or more like your doing curls? Please reply fast. I need to order in bulk either sharpies or pencils, it’s riding on you!

  • @sparkyprof1204

Pipe cutters are not supposed to be used on EMT. It reduces the interior diameter.

Just by eye looking at the finish pipe I could tell it wasn't leveled and the way he measured from point to point is not even right. Also when he was bending the pipe and the host was emphasizing don't let it come off the ground. He was having trouble keeping the pipe on the floor. 🤣😂
