I takes u 5:26 minutes for each one u make Edit: btw I have been subscribed to Jeremy Shaffer for 5 years when I was little I was just like how I am right now this guy comes up with amazing ideas i never miss his videos it’s so awesome
Thanks Garv, for your comment and question. This particular one sprouted out of experimenting with the concept of raw edges butting up against each other to from a lock, a concept which I was first introduced to by watching Jo Nakashima's recent Moving Cubes video. I borrowed the concept, but I applied it in a rather different setting that Jo's. I used it to lock two flaps on the same sheet of paper rather than locking together two different modules and also in this model the flaps are pressed together thanks to a mountain fold rather than being in pressed into pockets. So this is an example of the way I tend to design... I'll use a tool I learned in a model that I've previously folded (either my own or someone else's) and I'll apply it in a different direction or setting. I tend to break my designing up into different lands... You have the Pop-ups land, the Flickerland, Flashers, geometric shapes and symbols, modular, and subject related like the whole avengers series. I tend to get a lot of ideas from you guys, and I've also started looking at what's trending on TH-cam for inspiration. One last note I'd like to mention is that I really have immersed myself into origami and it remains a deep passion of mine! Experimenting and coming up with new designs is a joy and thrill for me (editing videos... well not so much, but that's a necessary part of sharing). I literally have origami paper within reach wherever I go... In bed, on the metro, in the car, even on the toilet.... actually... especially on the toilet!... That's where my creativity really flows! I sometimes even dream I'm folding and on at least a couple occasions I woke up and could remember what I did (Walking Boat and Bouncy cube)! I've also had many years to hone my craft. I'm not much into super advanced models; my focus is rather to try to design whimsical, aesthetic, efficient models that have streamlined fun-to-fold sequences and that somehow resonate with my audience. So that's in big nutshell how I come up with such designs. For a little more in-depth explanation.... here's what I answered previously to a similar question.... I go through different methods at different times. I have done free folding a lot, but recently I've been a lot more into folding ideas, and a big part of the design process is figuring out which ideas I will be successful in trying to design and whether people will even want to fold them. Recently I've been looking at what's trending (the Pacman model was a result of that), and then trying to fold it. I also get a lot of ideas from you guys and I usually feature the comments that inspired my models. Sometimes I'm quickly successful at designing the models from the ideas, other times it takes so many tries... The human skull took me over 30 tries! Other times, I'm unsuccessful but my attempt at trying to design something will morph into a different model, like for example, I was recently trying to design a pull-the-tail flapping pig since this is the Chinese Zodiac year of the pig, but I ended up with something that resembled a turtle so I went with it, which included looking up on Google Images for what turtles look like. Knowing when to stop and call it a finished model is part of the art of design. Also, knowing when to stop going down a certain path and rather backtrack and go down the path of an earlier attempt... there's an art to that, and it applies to other aspects of life as well. Also figuring out whether certain details of a model are worth the extra complexity to achieve them. Did I really need an eye on PacMan.... that was hard to say but I went with it. Finding the most efficient use of paper sometimes makes the model so laborious to fold that it's not worth it. If an easier base ends up giving you all the appendages you need then.... Good! Being able to make use of the extra paper rather than just tuck it inside I think is an important skill. I recently designed a 5-pointed star from a double bird base and I used the 3 extra points... as a tripod for the star! I have bags and bags of unfinished models I deem worthy of possible future exploration. As for the process of designing itself, I often utilize a set of well-known bases, structures, mechanisms and tricks that I've accumulated over the years... examples include Flapping Bird mechanism, pleatsinking, frog tongue pattern, interlocking rings structure, Surfer on a Wave twisty person technique, corner isolation techniqu, pop-up card bases, waterbomb-birdbase-fishbase-pigbase-frogbase-pinwheelbase-etc variations, drawing with the edge of the paper, Tree Maker concepts (but not with computer), tatos, twistfolding, iso-area folding, flickers, flasher mechanism, color-change techniques, and my bar theory of action models which is really just an awareness that folding the paper creates a certain tensile strength along the fold line and I try to exploit that in my action models.... More parallel folds make the "bar" stronger. Another big step to designing is finessing the folding method... that includes trying to find clear guidelines for each step and making the steps as easy to do as possible. Like for instance, I often try to break up reverse folds into mountains and valleys or at least into squash-folds, which seem a little easier for beginners to grasp. Those are some of the building blocks I use. Hope that helps!
@@jeremyshaferorigami Thanks for the help Jeremy, you are such an inspiration to me. I'll try to come up with a design of my own with this technique. Thanks once again, you're the best🙂
I fold it it it's great was trying to interlock it and I did but then I hit it and it exploded its awsome especially how it exploded now to put the pieces back together and when I put the model away I put it away but the pieces thanks jeremy we all appreciated your awsome models thank you see you on your livestream
Wow Mr Shafer, I’ve seen that type of shiny paper you showed in the beginning multiple times as I’ve delved into your channel for the past few years. Where did u get it??

This is going in my calculations of origamics, let's see... Okay done! You know what? I've never seen any model like this one before! There is none like one of these! Of course if someone claims it as their own design, well hopefully that won't happen! Also have you checked out my pool balls video like you said you would? I think they're AWESOME! Thanks Jeremy for your awesome designs! No one has this kind of talent that you offer, the world and everyone on it, is IMPRESSED! Keep up your great talent and unique designs! Maybe you'll hit 1 million subscribers! One day, one day....
The members livestreams are this weekend. I will make the official announcement this Wednesday on my Community Tab, including the times and how to join the livestreams.
I filmed each color block and the finished ball as I did in 9:00 and 9:03 and imported still pictures of them into my vector graphics program (Macromedia Freehand), traced around each of them and traced over all the edges, and then I rotated them and added the arrows and then imported it back into Adobe Premiere and where I added the text using the titles tool.
For any geometry enthusiasts, I have officially overhauled my Origami Tetris designs, if you're interested! Each piece is now made from a single sheet of kami and has closed ends! th-cam.com/video/_xjZmFZeenQ/w-d-xo.html
