It's not because you make nice origami that you can teach people to make them... Your channel has it all, not only the pieces are beautiful, but you explain very well and very clearly how to make them... Thanks for your hard work it's truly appreciated, you are the reference !!
Simply amazing. I made one of these for each one of my family members and they love them and play with them all the time now. Yet another great tutorial!
I'm of the Akira Yoshizowa-John Montroll 'school', but I do dabble in modular origami. This one looks rather nifty, and I must say, Mr. Nakashima, you have some deft fingers there, Sir. Nice video, clear and easy to understand. I shall give this Yamauchi piece a go. Thanks for making this.
Fireworks is fun :) I just made one for a collegue. I fold it the same as yours, only skip the step of the diagonals to center. It's fun and doesn't take all too long to make. Most difficult step to me is the last step of folding down the parts between the corners, it usually tends to fall apart lol xD, but more or less 1hr is enough to make it
Just want to say this is amazingly amazing! The things you can do with just paper!! I cried for joy when I finished mine!!! My star is just beautiful!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!
Thank you for making and sharing the tutorial! I struggled to make one, and had to keep going back and pausing the tutorial. I ended up tossing my first one because it kept falling apart, and the papers eventually started to tear. I think it was because I used thin and used papers. They were already weak and had folding lines from other origami objects. On my second attempt, I used new thicker and stiffer paper. The final fold areas started to wear out, so I had to use tape to keep them together. I finally succeeded on my third try. Mine turned out smaller and didn't look very neat. I had used papers with patterns (instead of a solid color) on one side and plain white on the other.
So its almost 2hrs since I began! Its the connection of the two ends that's stumping me. I'm using slightly thinner craft paper so the last section on the ends is getting very weak now. But its bedtime so I have to leave it til tomorrow night. Maybe I'll get it then. Next morning while having coffee.............. Taa daaaaa!!!!! Got it! But had to cheat.....used a paper clip to hold one side together while I fitted and folded the other side. My advice to beginners.....start with larger paper, maybe 12cm square or even bigger. Nothing wrong with having a larger star. ;)
Took me probably 90 minutes and I had a weird pastel color scheme going on. That last step where you connect the ends is so difficult! But it's worth it 'cause now I have a fancy decoration for my grand piano. The color really pops out of the black piano! Thanks for the tutorial!
I could legitimately see that happening. I've gotten so pissed off at a wireless adapter that kept failing (cost me a $6.2K contract), I crushed it with my teeth, then burned it with a propane torch.
It was awesome making it, the last part itself took about 5 mins... Thank you Jo Nakashima! I used 3 white sheets 3 black and rest colored but the white sheets don't look that amazing. Anyways! Doumo Arigato Gozaimasu!!!!!
yep that's funny but I don't think paper is ummm ALIVE so It probably is people getting mad that jo is better than them......(Sorry if this is kinda rude to the people who are jealous about Jo's talent)
@@emperorempireytgaming3884 hey "EMPEROR EMPIRE YT GAMING" u really need to go see a psychologist. U obviously don't have good taste in UTOPIA's comment
Am I the only person who made this and was so proud ourself but once you looked at the bottom it looked like crap? And like how do people make it look so perfect? Like I make it look like it was born in the grave!
Tip: If you use patterned paper, take note of which way the pattern flows when you begin the hamburger/hotdog folds. It makes it easier to keep the pattern consistent for each piece, if that's what you want.
If you find the last bit hard, I did this ages ago and I found it much easier this way. So first you connect them all, but don’t do the squash fold and fold up the flap things (skip the folds he does at 7:07) Then it’s much easier to connect the first one to the last one because it’s more stretchy, and if any of the units come out, you can easily put them back in. Then, once you have a circle, do the folds at 7:07.
The key to successful origami is TIGHT FOLDS. Many people don't realize this, then it's easy to give up. Use the edge of a ruler or the side of a pair of scissors. I teach origami to my students --most are successful when they work on making sure their folds are tight. Tight folds give the paper MEMORY.
yaaaaaaaaaaày I did it. it is so perfect Jo Nikashima. I mean it was just pucca like yours even I did it in red and yellow and it looks so amazing I love it😍

A flexagon but it flexed too much of itself 😂
1 hr of making all pieces and attaching them, 2 more hours to make the final attaching. (some tearing and replacing, yelling at mom, sweat)
