really interesting vid. I've watched a few on this topic but none of them talked about it from this angle. really loved the clips from songs to give context
I don't care what anyone says. Drake is nowhere near as talented as Kendrick. His flow and cadence can not be imitated, not as far as Drake is concerned.
Drake that cat that hit a growth spurt and got a new barber over the summer and came back to school with a lil glow up then startin hanging with the popular kids. He thinks "look at this ol smart ngga over here reading books n shit" is actually an insult.
I don’t care what anyone says Drake voice or annoys me and then he’s with that damn autotune. they didn’t hype him up to think that he’s the best and he’s not he’s nowhere near it. He needs to go back to school. Let somebody teach him something.
You know what they say: pride goeth before the fall and all that. This was a good breakdown from an angle I haven't seen explored enough. It reminded me of when Joe Budden was shouting at everyone claiming that Drake was in a lose/lose situation from the beginning (and they they knew it--which, really?). Anyway, he said something like, "You were supposed to know better!" in response to someone saying something about how unpredictable Kendrick was. They'd been talking about how "Family Matters" would have been enough for any other rapper, and Joe's addendum was that Drake was supposed to recognize that Kendrick was on a different level. So, as you're framing it, he clearly must have underestimated him if he was cocky enough to assume he had a killshot. It also made me think about how clear it was during the battle that Kendrick really knew Drake's catalog to be able to make some of those "quintuple entendres," while one of the biggest talking points about "The Heart Part Six" was that he fundamentally misinterpreted "Mother I Sober." And that seems to me to be both a symptom and the cause for why he underestimated him--he hasn't really been paying close enough attention to Kendrick's work over the years to understand the threat he was dealing with, which in turn made him overconfident enough that he didn't even bother to review (or in this case, to finally listen carefully) Kendrick's catalog in preparation for the battle. Side note: I loved the editing for the video, definitely a cool style that I think is a little different but still really helpful for bringing in examples and adding reaction flavors to go along with your points (and I think the returning Birdman line was a great example--it had the style of a running gag, but it was also a way to make sure your audience never lost track of the underlying thread of your argument. really great stylistic choice!). I did just want to second the mic issue. I don't think it's like a dire concern wrt the video, so don't sweat it on that front. I just did want to acknowledge that the ambient noise happening around you was noticeable enough that I never fully adjusted to it enough that it wasn't obvious, and it was a little jarring when you were switching between your clips and your voiceover because the background noise would come flooding back in. Like I said, I still think this video was great and I'm about to go see what else you've got on your channel, so don't feel like it was a dealbreaker by any means! It just seems like you might still be working on your setup bc your channel is growing, so I just wanted to give some actual concrit (that hopefully isn't ahole coded like so much of the rest of the internet lol). Anyway, thanks for adding your take on things, and looking forward to seeing more of your work!
Thanks! You really picked up on a lot so I had to reply. I'm not always sure what stands out most to the audience so feedback is much appreciated. I have more to come and look forward to seeing you in the comments. Thanks again!
Drake never stood a chance in this battle. It was an unwinable battle against Kendrick. For one, Drake uses ghost writers and used ghost writers even in this battle 😂. It was really a 1 v 20 and Kdot smacked Drake and all his ghost writers. Drake is delusional and surrounded by yes men. If he had real people around him, they would have told him not to engage. Now here we are, drake's entire persona is in the toilet and his entire character or lack there of, has been put on front street. It was a public flogging and humiliation 😂
Good analysis. Drake had 1-2 songs (we heard two parts linked by 'keep it PG' and family matter) and that was it lol He was not prepared, he hasn't read the Art of War
Drake is not now and will never be able to wrap with the likes of Kendrick Lamar. I do not like his voice makes me cringe. I hope he’s gone for good. I don’t like Drake. I will never like Drake. I will never listen to Drake. He needs to get out of here. Go home.
Drake lost because he was recording as he went, Kendrick had pre-recorded diss tracks already in the vault ready for any angle he took. That's why even though Family Matters was a great diss record, it didn't have time to marinate cuz Kendrick had Meet The Grahams ready, then he dropped Not Like Us the day after. Drake was drained already by The Heart Part 6 which is why it was trash. When one artist is recording as he goes, but the other one has a bunch of records already done already to drop at a moment's notice, there is no way that first artist can keep up.
So Drake should have come prepared. He didn't respect his foe. He has been in beefs before and he's aware that Kendrick is talented on a different level to another rapper out there. The guy is a Pulitzer winner FFS. Drake has zero respect for his competition. He came at it like he was going up against Meek mills and he was caught lacking. I don't even think he knows kendrick's discography well. Drake's gotten comfortable with others writing his stuff and biting other peoples stuff that he stopped trying. The fact that the Mf missed the entirety of what Mother I Sober was about pretty much says everything about why he lost and why he was never considered the Goat despite all his success. How could he fyck up so badly! Bro failed an open book test. Know your opponent, that's step no1 when going into any stuff of battle/ match/ or debate and Drake stumbling on the first step
@@wu71624 right. Talking about the same dude who did a freestyle while reading the lyrics off of a blackberry vs. spitting off the top of his dome and being called to deep by the likes of AK who praised Drake’s blackberry rapping. That video of AK watching the two “freestyle” still has me laughing.
It's very ironic since the conversation is always about how Drake is constantly dropping music, and Kendrick Lamar is always taking 100 years to drop a project on average.
The background noise on the mic makes it harder to follow, but this is a great video.
Your use of clips from the tracks is really on point. Really enjoyed this take.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. There's more to come

No.
He lost because he’s wack without Ghostwriters.

Been waiting for your video. Very good content and visuals.
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed it

I believe he thought Kendrick wasn't going to respond.

GOOD VIDEO ! BUT WHATS THE SOUND IN THE BACKGROUND ?
This video was recorded on the road. Hopefully the sound wasn't too bad. Thanks for your support and feedback!
It was similar to brown noise imo. I like it. It's calming. @@HipHop-v6m

Keep coping , Kendrick is just that good .

Yea buddy do your homework, Kdot took 17days because he did all of his songs in one session, 🤫
