Drake seems to have a dissociative disorder of some kind that, among many other things, allowed him to suppress the Pusha T beef, and jump straight into the worse version of it. Everybody else saw from the get-go that it was a mindless decision.

I think the “you don’t know nothin bout that” bar was a shot at Drake being a dead beat. There’s a difference in mentioning family and family being mentioned in an insult directed towards your character. Drake was being straight up disrespectful with “shake that ass bitch” And don’t get me wrong, I don’t think anything is off limits in a rap battle. His reaponse didnt change how we feel about Common. And it wasnt smart if he had nothing 2 lose....weak men respond to bs about losing a girl (serena). He also disses her husband later which is EXTRA wack. #2 Drake came at meek while he was dating Nicki. Meek gets the L bc of pillow talk. #3 Drake not underatanding the Pusha beef is wack. Which is why he got wiped down! And its not about Kanye...its about Pharell 🤓 #4 If Drake learned he could lose after the Pusha beef, he learned NOTHING! You are the first person I ever heard refer to Drake as a conscious rapper. Lol. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t earlier in his career, I just didn’t know about it. I’d love to hear those earlier conscious tracks. He is dead silent on all social and Black issues today. One of the most underreported things is that Drake was actually stepping in to defend Wayne because he did such an embarrassingly terrible diss track to Pusha T. Lol. Drake had to mention Kanye because Pusha didn’t know what he was talking about because he wasn’t in the writing session and Kanye wasn’t telling Pusha what he was doing, and wasn’t intending on crediting Drake likely. He had to go back and properly credit Drake on songs he previously wrote for him after this situation happened. How you going to insult him about not writing when he was just writing songs for your boss? Lol. Pusha was also stepping in for both Kanye and Pharrell. It gets messy when other people are standing up for other people, and their beef is really with the people behind the rapper. Lol.

Wayne was ignorant and, Drake decided to get involved in grown folk talk and got destroyed. Aint no way everyone ❤ drake but let Pusha expose the kid. 🙄 Drake stepped in for Wayne/Bird/the label and didnt even know he should have been on Pusha & Pharrel's side! People find anyway to hate Drake. If you got variety, you’re not dedicated to your core audience. If you make the same style of music, you don’t evolve. A bunch of non artists saying what an artist can/can’t make lol

The only problem drake has is that now it's cool to perceive him as a culture vulture and "not black enough".

You can make some music for some people all the time, all music for all people some of the time, but you can’t make all music for all people all the time.

Drake is not now and will never be able to wrap with the likes of Kendrick Lamar. I do not like his voice makes me cringe. I hope he’s gone for good. I don’t like Drake. I will never like Drake. I will never listen to Drake. He needs to get out of here. Go home.

I don’t care what anyone says Drake voice or annoys me and then he’s with that damn autotune. they didn’t hype him up to think that he’s the best and he’s not he’s nowhere near it. He needs to go back to school. Let somebody teach him something.

Some important context for why Drake was so big out the gate is that he had a huge head start, to the point where it feels like he might’ve been an industry plant. He came from the upper middle class, and had an amount of celebrity and money already from Degrassi. So he didn’t really have to work hard or prove his abilities and take losses to grow from the way that someone like Kendrick had to. The industry knew they could make money off of him, and once you start making them money they keep pushing your stuff and inflating your numbers to make it look like everyone is listening to you and keep the gravy train going. He did capitalize on that, but he never matured, hence when it came time to step up, his foundation wasn’t strong enough.
