I think Next Generation makes so much more sense as it’s the series millennials grew up with and is also a favorite with older fans. OG series seems to skew much older and much more niche so not as big a market for it anymore then there was say 10-15 years ago.
It's a shame BlueBrixx has lost the Trek license. The chance of Lego treating the license and fans well is really small. They're certainly going to overcharge like crazy for whatever they release and probably include a bunch of stickers instead of prints :( It would be better if Pantasy or maybe Cobi got the license.
Its not like Bluebrixx sets were without Problems, no figs, bad part quality depending which factory provided the bricks, unstable designs etc . Lego will create new molds and their designers are far superior

Not even started with other joy killers like 10,- bucks per Sticker and the usage of any known colour for the parts. May be Bluebrixx had their problems with the quality of bricks and design, but the sets were fair priced.
Hot take: Bluebrixx has been consistently making affordable and easy-to-display Star Trek sets for years, and the fact that all has to end just so LEGO can make one $400 behemoth that only the rich collectors will be able to get is a bit of a shame. I'm very intrigued to see how they accomplish such a complex and unbalanced structure out of LEGO, as I have to imagine they wouldn't settle for just a giant stand to cradle the saucer section, and at almost double the piece count, I can't imagine the three clear posts that hold up the BB version would suffice. I'm excited to see what they come up with, but I think it's pretty safe to say that we will only be getting this and maybe, if we're lucky, a similarly expensive TOS or movie Enterprise, and I just find it a little annoying that BlueBrixx has to lose the ability to make sets that the average consumer can afford so that LEGO can make one that we may not be able to... Now if it sells well and they surprise us with a whole ST theme, then I'll be changing my tune! I'd love some smaller scale models like what BB sells or even some standard playsets (not that I won't love the one we're getting, but y'know. $$$.) But I'm just saying, 90% of their licensed themes just produce one big expensive Icons set and that's it... But like I said, despite all my complaining, I am very excited to see it nonetheless!

This is total bullocks. Bluebricks did an amazing job with the Ships and Gadgets and now they were bullied out of the license because of the greedy LEGO Company, as they saw BBs success? They will NEVER reach the quality of BB when it comes to Star Trek. All those little details BB PRINTED ON the pieces will be stickers, and LEGO will ask for a premium. And what will they do with the license? Putting out one massive Set, perhaps a Collectible Minifgure Series and thats it. Just like they did with the Dungeons and Dragons license. LEGO has become even worse than SCO, a patent troll, just in this case a license troll.
I actually highly doubt they'll do the original 1701 enterprise. The nacelles on the back would be too unstable. I feel like the 1701-A refit from the movies is more likely. I'd love to get stuff from the other shows, like the Voyager or the Defiant. Maybe even the kelvin timeline version from the JJ Abrams movies.
@@SO-ym3zs It's because Mega made one huge piece for the Nacelle Pylons that's made out of Carbon reinforced plastic. Anything brick built would've collapsed under the weight. I've had mine built since 2017 and the Nacelles are still straight, but the saucer is dipping slightly because of its weight on the brick built "neck". I might attempt removing the saucer and rebuilding the neck to see if it straightens out. It's still a marvel of brick engineering though. Whoever designed that set is a genius and I don't think Lego would attempt it honestly.
@IntergalacticDustBunny I can't imagine any other way for them to have done the nacelle struts. The disc on my set dips a teeny bit but that's not bad, supporting that much weight for years now.
Mega Bloks did an Enterprise-D an Picard back in the day under their Probuilder line. Current era "MEGA Brands" did a whole 50th Anivversary Star Trek; The Original Series line as well as some Next Gen figs in solo packs.

If this does well, something I would love to see is a line of Midi-scale star trek ships, like the current star wars line. There are plenty of iconic ships from star trek that could fill a line for ages. Different versions of the enterprise, alien ships like a Klingon bird of prey, other starfleet ships like Voyager... I think a midi scale star trek line would be awesome (and to one up the star wars one, include the captain of each ship!)
Going by the piece count, this set will be smaller than the UCS sets Lego has. I'm thinking it'll be either the bridge or transporter room and not a model of the whole ship
I wish they could’ve splurged for three more minfigures to get Tasha, Barclay, and Ro there but this is still a pretty complete TNG family so I’m happy with it
This might sound odd at first, but I’m not completely surprised since The Next Generation is the connective tissue for multiple Star Trek shows like Voyager, Deep Space Nine, Lower Decks & Prodigy.
I can't wait to see what it looks like! I love the Enterprise-D, and I got the Megablox one back in the day. I'm sure the Lego one will look even better than that one!
Hey, just a heads up, TNG’s episodes drastically increase in quality past season 2. Not sure why it just happens that a lot of early stuff in trek shows needs to settle before it genuinely grows into its own.
Watch Lego actually use the Lex Luthor head for Picard. I wouldn't put it past them. This is the dream though. I'm hoping LEGO Star Trek becomes a yearly thing. Personally, I'd also love to get DS9.

I remember when MEGA did the original Enterprise. You couldn’t close the saucer with the figures inside, and there was a giant piece with the neck, saucer base, & part of the engineering section.

I'm a bigger fan of Next Gen because it has Patrick Stewart but I'm honestly shocked they didn't go for the Original series Kirk & Spock are just icons. Hopefully if it does well we'll get more sets or even a CMF line

This really is crazy. Not a big fan Trek fan, but I have a Brother who is. Remember him buying Mega Bloks Enterprise D many years ago when they had possession of the trademark. Minifigure selection is really impressive. Will be interesting to see what Lego figures out for an interior as this feels like it'll be similar to the large scale GOTG ships than most Star Wars USC sets. Don't imagine it will be cheap with that piece count.

I hope there's a lot of small parts, becuase at 3600 pieces, it could be really expensive. D:

I thought Star Trek The Next Generation is already licensed to Mega Bloks. While JJ Abrams Star Trek is licensed to Kreo Blocks. There are youtube videos of them.
Damn, was hoping for an original series Enterprise as that’s my favorite but I’ll settle on this. Hopefully if there’s enough love and support for this one (I’m definitely buying it) that it’ll encourage Lego to produce a classic series D2C NCC-1701 for 2026.
I know in my heart it's just gonna be a single icons set and then never touched again, but I can still dream of a modular build your own starship set similar to the South Bend electronic Enterprise from 1979 that could be reconfigured into different ships, or a 3 in 1 for building different versions of the Enterprise.
I have the Megablocks Enterprise-D with Picard from about 20 years ago and it was a stellar set, can't wait for the LEGO version cause it will blow the MB one out of the Mutara Nebula

They're stable on the huge Enterprise Mega released when they had the license.

I know in my heart it's just gonna be a single icons set and then never touched again, but I can still dream of a modular build your own starship set similar to the South Bend electronic Enterprise from 1979 that could be reconfigured into different ships, or a 3 in 1 for building different versions of the Enterprise.
Design your own set and put it up on LEGO Ideas, or on the Bricklink Designer Program.
The original 1966 Enterprise would be an easier ship to build from LEGO
I have the Megablocks Enterprise-D with Picard from about 20 years ago and it was a stellar set, can't wait for the LEGO version cause it will blow the MB one out of the Mutara Nebula
