NBC, the most famous of the Big 4 American television networks and the godfather of television as a whole, unforgettable for its chimes and peacock. Wonderful job!
The B&W Peacock at 13:24 was real. It originally aired in October1967 before a preview of The Beatle's movie "A Hard Day's Night." The NBC penguin was an alternate logo for the movie special. Viewers who had B&W TV sets mostly saw the peacock this way throughout the 1950's and into the mid-1970's.
_Brought to you in living color._ Excellent one! NBC's idents are colourful. The "peacock" logo is one of the most iconic logos for an television network, along with the "abc" logo and the CBS "Eyemark" logo from America, as well as the 1997 "BBC" logo from the UK! The majority of their idents are excellently animated and well-executed. Some of my favourite idents from NBC would be: • the 1962 _"in living color"_ ident • the ident at 21:01 • the "Let's All Be There!" ident (1985) animated by Pacific Data Images • the 2013 ident Despite all that, there are some creepy variants (please do not watch this video at night): • the variant at 10:08 where the peacock is having a seizure • the variant at 17:11 • the variant at 20:03 with the creepy-looking peacock. The only source found from the ident is in black and white, possibly due to the damaged video-tape...
Thanks, Man! The "peacock" is definitely a classic, along with the other big company logos you mentioned. The 1962 ident is probably one of the most recognizable for those born in the 60s or those in the logo community. The ident at 21:01 is rather impressive for the 70s. It looks to me like it was animated with cel animation of some sort. The "Let's All Be There" ident from 1985 is brilliantly animated, and Pacific Data Images also did some of the other idents, including the 1984 ident. The 2013 ident reminds me of the Resene paint commercial from New Zealand, and I love the piano rendition of the NBC chimes. The variant where the peacock has a seizure can be quite creepy to those who don't expect it to go crazy. Where the variant came from still remains a mystery. The "livid color" variant confused me the first time I saw it in late 2018. The variant at 20:03 is, while sort of cursed, also rather interesting. According to The New Communicators 2, this ident from 1970 was produced by Cellar Door Cinema, a children's filmmaking workshop based out of Lexington, Massachusetts. This logo was likely directed by studio founder Marjorie Lank and animated by children ages 8 to 15. Another example of Cellar Door's animation The Purple Jungle was featured on the program. Stay tuned for my logo history on YTV Originals!
Fun fact: the actual peacock on the last frame of the “creepy” animation was created by a 5-year-old girl at the time (according to the Logopedia along with one color frame of the animation)
Very well done, Jonty, your best ever logo presentation yet, and I must say, your longest, as much as I would like to see the other variants, this is good. If I have to pick favourites, it would be, of course, the "in living color" peacock and the snake, I also love the bumpers from the nineties with various artists participating, including John Kricfalusi, I think NBC was trying admirably to imitate MTV and Nickelodeon to get the Generation X crowd at the time.

It's funny how stylized the NBC logo became. Sure, it looks aesthetically pleasing, but I remember by the time I was growing up in the early-2000s, I couldn't even tell it was a peacock.
