IMPORTANT NOTE:
This video will not include EVERY single variant. I decided to add my favorite variants, including variants included in other logo histories on NBC, because if I added every variant, then it would be unwatchable.
I have decided to feature logos from NBC Studios (examples: the 1959-63, 1960-66, and 1966-75 "Snake" logos.
The ident at 13:24 might be fake, but I don't really care because, in my opinion, it's a good way to start the batch of the "living color" ident section, so I'd rather you didn't complain or point out about how it's fake.
The following logo history has been brought to you in living color, on the JontyMaster TH-cam channel! This video is also to celebrate the end of my school year, and I got to finish this on the day I had my final exam.
NBC is an American English-language commercial broadcast television and radio network. It is the oldest of the traditional "Big Three" American television networks, having been formed on 15th November 1926 by the Radio Corporation of America.
Twelve years later, NBC Television was launched on 30th April 1939 by David Sarnoff. The television network premiered at the 1939-40 New York World's Fair with President Franklin D. Roosevelt introducing the first broadcast of the network. He was the first U.S. president to appear on television.
My next logo history will be whatever is voted the highest in this poll: • Post

What are your favorite idents from NBC?
UPDATE: NBC released a new logo in 2022. Here is the link to an ident: th-cam.com/video/wRqTyt4d7zE/w-d-xo.html
For the epilepsy bit, skip to 18:55 instead, not 18:47. That was a mistake
The 1956-1962 peacock & the 1962-1976 peacock were my favourite NBC idents
the novocom idents
The 1993-2002, 2000-2004, 2003-2006, 2006-2008, 2008-2009 and 2009-2013 ones.
My Favorite Ident Logos Are 12, 14, 15, And 22.
Don't forget the 1992-1995 ones too.
NBC, the most famous of the Big 4 American television networks and the godfather of television as a whole, unforgettable for its chimes and peacock. Wonderful job!
And the oldest one out there
However CBS took number one
And was the first television that started television here
Big 4? What are the other three?

Excellent one! NBC's idents are colourful. The "peacock" logo is one of the most iconic logos for an television network, along with the "abc" logo and the CBS "Eyemark" logo from America, as well as the 1997 "BBC" logo from the UK! The majority of their idents are excellently animated and well-executed.
Some of my favourite idents from NBC would be:
• the 1962 _"in living color"_ ident
• the ident at 21:01
• the "Let's All Be There!" ident (1985) animated by Pacific Data Images
• the 2013 ident
Despite all that, there are some creepy variants (please do not watch this video at night):
• the variant at 10:08 where the peacock is having a seizure
• the variant at 17:11
• the variant at 20:03 with the creepy-looking peacock. The only source found from the ident is in black and white, possibly due to the damaged video-tape...
Thanks, Man! The "peacock" is definitely a classic, along with the other big company logos you mentioned.
The 1962 ident is probably one of the most recognizable for those born in the 60s or those in the logo community. The ident at 21:01 is rather impressive for the 70s. It looks to me like it was animated with cel animation of some sort. The "Let's All Be There" ident from 1985 is brilliantly animated, and Pacific Data Images also did some of the other idents, including the 1984 ident. The 2013 ident reminds me of the Resene paint commercial from New Zealand, and I love the piano rendition of the NBC chimes.
The variant where the peacock has a seizure can be quite creepy to those who don't expect it to go crazy. Where the variant came from still remains a mystery. The "livid color" variant confused me the first time I saw it in late 2018. The variant at 20:03 is, while sort of cursed, also rather interesting.
According to The New Communicators 2, this ident from 1970 was produced by Cellar Door Cinema, a children's filmmaking workshop based out of Lexington, Massachusetts. This logo was likely directed by studio founder Marjorie Lank and animated by children ages 8 to 15. Another example of Cellar Door's animation The Purple Jungle was featured on the program.
Stay tuned for my logo history on YTV Originals!
5:09 this one is also a bit scary because of the wavy sound. And it sounds like your in a horror movie
Fun fact: the actual peacock on the last frame of the “creepy” animation was created by a 5-year-old girl at the time (according to the Logopedia along with one color frame of the animation)
also the creepy peacock was created by a 6yo boy named Jean Falcone
💀🗿📸📸📸
The B&W Peacock at 13:24 was real. It originally aired in October1967 before a preview of The Beatle's movie "A Hard Day's Night." The NBC penguin was an alternate logo for the movie special. Viewers who had B&W TV sets mostly saw the peacock this way throughout the 1950's and into the mid-1970's.

what i love about NBC's logo history is how dynamic it is.
It was associated with a tiny three note xylophone prior to the late 1950s.
I Love These Old Nbc Logos From The 70's, 80's And 90s. Great Television Back In This Generation.
Very well done, Jonty, your best ever logo presentation yet, and I must say, your longest, as much as I would like to see the other variants, this is good. If I have to pick favourites, it would be, of course, the "in living color" peacock and the snake, I also love the bumpers from the nineties with various artists participating, including John Kricfalusi, I think NBC was trying admirably to imitate MTV and Nickelodeon to get the Generation X crowd at the time.
Thank you once again! The peacock in "living color" idents are probably the most classic out of all the other NBC idents, and the bumpers from the nineties were creative, and it was interesting to see that John Kricfalusi, the creator of Ren & Stimpy, decided to create an ident for NBC. Probably my most favorite out of the "artists collaboration" idents would have to be the one created by Peter Max. It's very tense.
12:00 presenter announcing the wrong network, ending it with "goddammit" got me dead🤣

HE SAID CBS ITS ACTUALLY NBC XD
Which show did he cuss on? My bet was the Jack Parr Show.
lol
It's from the b&w 16mm print of "CBS Affiliates` Advisory Board Gag Reel" on 1963.
That was a great logo history on NBC! I really enjoyed it!
Thanks, Connor! I had a blast making it!

Connor?? Patterson?? Is that you
Hey it's me NBC Peacock fan! (aka Thinking Spot Friends).
33:23 This was the logo that became a hit in the meme culture.
It's funny how stylized the NBC logo became. Sure, it looks aesthetically pleasing, but I remember by the time I was growing up in the early-2000s, I couldn't even tell it was a peacock. I thought it was like a castle tower with banners or spotlights behind it or even just a abstract logo. When my parents told be it was a peacock, I didn't even believe them!
The streaming service Peacock just makes more sense
Oh, my God, that horrid, ugly double-box logo. I remember SNL mocking it MERCILESSLY. The “Smart as a Peacock” variant came from them, too - they had no mercy for the double-box’s successor, either.
Who is SNL and which timestamp (or video) has it?

Ah that brings back memories of my younger days. A time when TV companies were creative and proud of the opening and closing logos.
18:47 i'm so glad i'm not the only one who thought the special id was a little seizure inducing
The NBC "Trapezoidal N" was subject to controversy - Nebraska ETV (Now Nebraska Public Media) had sued for trademark infringement. In the end, they got new studio equipment and a new logo.
