    I killed it tonight…
‘The Joke About Hillary Speight’, ‘Fair Stood The Wind For France’ and ‘Journey Into Fear’! A triple header that KNOCKED ME OUT! And this one was the BEST! It was a nice way to start the week! BRAVO!!!☮️

There's a very good radio adaptation of The Third Man which you might like - though that's on my other channel, here: th-cam.com/video/sHpON564O_w/w-d-xo.html

Like an old movie, the kind with Sidney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre.

You're not wrong - several of Ambler's stories were adapted by Hollywood, and there is a film of this one from the 1940s which starred Orson Welles and Joseph Cotten. So it seems his stories were very much part of that old movies world...

Excellent - great fun. The accents were appalling but in keeping with the era!😂😂❤

Great entertainment but 1 thing puzzles me. Surely in 1940 the Orient Express service had been suspended so how could Graham expect to travel on it. Even if it wasn't surely an englishman wouldn''t be able to do so.

Eric Ambler evokes a time when European countries all had their own national
identities. eg. Bulgaria / Romania / Greece / etc...
Before the EU transformed them into a bland , blancmange run by Technocrats..!

Why did MILLIONS of Europeans all ALLOW it? I'm American having spent a lot of time in western Europe 3 different visits over several decades. I loved all the differences including even the currencies. All the details. Hoping Italians are basically the same when we move to Italy soon. Treasure their kindred spirit!

And they were constantly at war with each other. The EU has put a stop to all that. Remember, France and Germany have been at peace for almost 80 years now. Blancmange works doesn't it!

What a ridiculous assertion. Anyone who has travelled in Europe knows perfectly well that the countries and cultures remain diverse and different. Mindless maundering about the fictional evils of the EU are ludicrous.

No truth to this. Its a more more effective economic unit. The countries still are quite different. The EU has policies which fund individual cultural national aspects. Just what is a "technocrat"?
