The lesson: STOP SITTING ON ROAD. How many times have people lost games because they sat on four roads and just didn't take it, knowing they would need to eventually? People have to start realizing that probably half of all games don't actually involve fighting for road, it involves one person winning on the turn they take it because another person decided to hold off.
@@StephenMario Sure, eventually that can be used against you. But sometimes you just have to take it as a defensive move. And if someone who is dangerous starts fighting you for it, others at the table will generally pitch in to help if they can. But the point is, all too often it just gets left hanging for too long.

I was black in this video, the block on the 5 brick was the killer as oj and blue developed a lot with their 6 brick. I sadly didn’t stand a chance after that! But great to be in one of your vids, absolutely love you!
The early city on the 3-4-8 was the game losing mistake here. 1. It delayed securing the 6-3. This should've been the highest priority since you take away a major productive settle spot from the frontrunner and you get unrivaled OWS. Blocking the 6 ore would also block your sole OWS competitor, the difference being you can still port your wood. 2. The extra wood and sheep was pretty inefficient. We saw later on you would have hands like 4 wood 3 sheep, or 6 wood 1 brick, or 6 sheep 3 ore, often 4-for-1ing or getting 7'd out. If you had the wood port before getting the city, those wood overloaded hands would have been very much actionable. I'd say popping a ton early is also a mistake in your position, one that shouldn't be blocked often (and OJ is also an OWS player that could protect the 9 wheat). Popping early could be nice if you get RBs or YOPs, but it's likely you're gonna end up with a bunch of VPs and knights. The robber control is nice but securing settle spots was vital and ofc as with all engine builder games, lifetime value of cities/settles increase the earlier you get them. Of course we exactly saw that towards the mid game you were falling behind in production while holding VPs and knights and eventually got outscaled.
16:30- beautifully put Dandy! Love your proactive mindset. I get very frustrated with people playing this game but it’s not worth it. Better to just focus on what I can control and see where I can improve as a player

Completely unrelated to most of this video, but you've got more experience in Catan so I thought I'd ask. Who would win if I just settled for my 10th point, but my settlement split up the current longest road and gave it to someone else, who also, as a result, got 10 points? Is that a tie?
If A had long road before and then ties with B as a result of your settlement, A retains the longest road In same scenario, if there is tie between two other players (say B C) other than the original owner (A), then no one gets the road. In any case, a player can only win in his/her turn. So they need to maintain the longest road card till it is their turn.
Hey Dandy..I posted last time that i was not able to watch some of your vids in high resolution. I figured out the reason.. For youtube premium users, if the algorithm decides to download a vid for you in low resolution, then you dont option to watch it in high res. The solution is to remove the download. This should affect only youtube premium users..

A lot of people are unhappy when they get VPs early.. Are they wrong?..
It depends on when you get them but for the most part, I am thrilled!
Personally, If I'm going for OWS I tend to be disappointed with early VP's but if I'm going for road I'm ecstatic!
