I live on the southern Oregon coast and their are two separate wolf packs here, one up sixes river and also near rouge river as well. Seen them all the time while hunting

Imagine you took on the carnivorous diet, you feasted one night, and then you still feel kind of stuffed the following day, after happily sleeping through the night, and you have so much healthy, balanced energy you feel like you can fast until dinner time. For wolves, that fasting can be up to one or two weeks before they have to make a large kill; or they’ll have to do with small to medium sized pray that is around. Realistically, the wolves will only eat when they need to for the health of their pack which isn’t too frequent. That ecology of the wolves needing to hunt, their prey defending themselves, and being on the run, is what rebalanced Yellowstone in my lifetime. I am as old as the Yellowstone Wolf reintroduction program. The more I got to know wolves, the more I began to see them like Mufasa and Simba in the lion King, who have a deep reverence for the native ecosystem and the health of the herds, while scar just wanted to feast for himself and give the hyenas all the spoils who scared the herds away and we know what happens in the movie. We are all connected in the great circle of life.
Did you get the key here , wolves have been migrating trails into this area for as long as settlers have been here - The problem is that humans have settled in an area that the wolf travels - We have altered the wolves life , the wolves are only taking advantage of the situation left to them . This would not be an issue if humans lived with the land ( as the native american did ) instead of changing our surroundings /nature to suit our life over all , to make life more comfortable and profitable for the needs and greed of man , instead of working with other species in cohabitation . Yes I know that isn't how we roll , so lets at least not blame the wolf for taking advantage of a situation - lets instead admit we want more than we are unwilling to share at the cost of the wolf species .
And with all due respect, (as it is well documented), there is the long history of using livestock guardians like favorite guardian dog breeds, and the legends of the Texas Longhorns, who are quite famous for their defense tactics the more I learned about them. The herds will circle around their young with their big horns facing outward, and the leader of the herd will put up a fight with its size, strength, and ideally longhorns. Wolves can also be scared away like coyotes with what I just explained, and how some ranchers use brightly colored flags on their paddock fences that can mimic how other animals use bright colors as a warning like how skunks are the unmistakable black-and-white for their stink.
There was no good reason to exterminate them. Wolves are native to the habitat. They were in the habitat first before we humans showed our idiotic selves to the habitat. We should learn to co-exist with them. If we don’t like them around, then we should be the ones to leave if we don’t want to be around them.
Wolves have a long and historically well documented background of killing and eating people. Keep Wolves in Zoos where they are safe and can be kept apart from the Apex Predator Man. A hungry wolves looks at you like a can of dogfood.
I see both sides, but from my experience, nature is healthier with them. They tend to hunt the old, sick, and weak, helping keep the herds healthier. Unlike me and my fellow hunters, who either A. take the large rack trophies or B. take spikes for better meat.
We have had no wolves in Oregon for 70 to 75 years with no problems then the tree huggers come in and bring an east coast gray wolf and we have had nothing but problems with them, the wolves AND the tree huggers.

Now we get to see them eat all of our elk deer and any other wild game we like too eat.

Mule deer populations are decimated. Introducing a different species of wolf has been a success story...if your a wolf
