The way Peter fluidly slams the door and it just flows straight into him turning around, puffing his chest, and walking away in one swift motion is what cemented this scene as my favorite in Family Guy. You just don't get that kinda feel from 2D animation anymore unless it's from unsung indie artists on YT.

In order to satisfy her contract with Family Guy ; keep the show running and pursue her own acting career, Seth McFarlane and other writers decided that the family will hate Meg. By hating Meg, Mila didn't have to be so heavily involved in the show. That may explain why we heard so many short phrases from Meg (e.g., "I hate you!") in so many episodes
She is the scape goat of the family, this is the reason why she is hated. When a person is extremely honest and kind in a disfunctional family, that person is always attacked and shamed. This cartoon is very clear in explaining this dynamic 😅
I can remember when this episode came out. They were promoting it like crazy. I don’t remember if it was the season premiere but it was known that there was a lot of work put into it. It definitely paid off. This is one of the best Family Guy episodes they’ve ever made.

Watch A Goody Movie, or Scooby Doo Zombie Island, or if you'd prefer a tv show, something like Martin Mystery or The Boondocks, then watch (non-netflix) modern 2d animated shows. Actually a really good comparison is watching Teen Titans, then watching Teen Titans GO. If you're asking for the specific difference between tweening with paperdools and frame-by-frame, in frame-by-frame, each frame is hand-drawn, everything from walking to capes fluttering, to talking is all drawn for each scene. With tweening and paperdolls, most characters are separated into parts (upper arm, lower arm, head, hand, neck, etc.), and animation is achieved through telling a program to move each part in a set way to a set place in a set time.
I think this wasnt actually frame by frame and instead keyframed, but with a frame by frame looking modifier added to the animation making it look like it was frame by frame. Btw I don't actually know if this is the case but it would probably be easier to do this method imo

I wish Disney still made movies in their original art style, as others have said it costs more but they looked so amazing, I have nothing against modern 3D animation but the way old 2D movies were animated is just amazing

It's so good to me how this show manages it's tone. It is irreverent and crass and incredibly violent with some real pathos built in. The show isn't afraid to explore different sides of characters than you've seen, it's not afraid to do things that would piss off fans, and it's also not afraid to have genuine emotion.
i like how no matter what, meg is always a tentacle monster, grow her fingernails faster, or just be bullied by everyone. People in Family Guy just unanimously agree that meg is to be bullied, and I fucking love that.

I spent the entire time watching the segment trying to figure out what the twist was going to be, I just knew that something negative was going to end the segment and I laughed pretty hysterically when it happened
The joke was predictable and dumb. It would have been better if everything started to degrade and fall apart, losing color, with paint peeling away, just linework, then rough animation, then animatics. And the punchline being an accountant coming in to shut down production because its too expensive.

It's so good to me how this show manages it's tone. It is irreverent and crass and incredibly violent with some real pathos built in. The show isn't afraid to explore different sides of characters than you've seen, it's not afraid to do things that would piss off fans, and it's also not afraid to have genuine emotion.

The joke was predictable and dumb. It would have been better if everything started to degrade and fall apart, losing color, with paint peeling away, just linework, then rough animation, then animatics. And the punchline being an accountant coming in to shut down production because its too expensive.
