Great video. I definitely like that there are no more general questions on the major specific tests. Also having more time per question is a serious plus.
Hey did you take the Environmental FE? I may take it soon but there's not too many people who take the environmental one. Can you please let me know if its easy?! Thank you!!
Great tips man! I'm taking the FE/EIT in April and I just started reviewing last week (about 10-12 hours). I work 40 hrs a week so I'm just kind of stressing out on whether or not i'll have enough time to cover all the material by the exam date. I'm using the book you presented in your video. If you have any other tips on how to approach the test, it would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks again for the great video.
Erik Gutierrez Hi, I'm going to start studying for the FE in Electrical and Computer, and I want to know if the Lyndeburg was useful to you, since you said you used it, does it has all the topics that i need for the test?, it's still a little confusing to me, thanks
The book I used was "FE Review Manual" by Michael R. Lindeburg. However, they're coming out with new material to study with in November, so I suggest you wait until then.
Hi Felix, it's been more than six years out college in a different job. Do you suggest the same for preparing to FE/-EE or are there more ? I am planning to do it this September.
very helpful video, question, how did you know about your core subject for ME, 35-42 questions out of 110 for thermal/fluid, what about Electrical and computer, how do I know the core subject to focus on for studying?
Thanks so much for the video......I would like to do the FE/EIT exam but i would need to speak with you one on one please! I am graduate of civil engineering from out of country and left school since about 6years ago. I really do enjoy the video and i keep watching and watching and watching and can't stop watching lol! The best part was the ending when you throw up your hand in salute lol!
Good advice. Especially no. 1. I can't tell you how many students i have tutored and/or mentored who look at me in disbelief and say the following: "You mean I have to read the book!" Lol.
Wait hold up the first couple things you said caught me of guard about the general section. Im taking the Civil FE so i can expect less statics and dynamics?? and since Im Civil i wont have any circuits??
I said for EE and IE, you won't have as much statics and dynamics. You might have to expect it if you're taking CE... Sorry for the confusion...yes maybe you wont have -as much- circuit problems to do compared to EE...but might have some. CE is still dealing with circuits and stuff in terms of wiring a building...
That's what we call the electrical engineers for lol but OK thanks I got my exam in a week... been out of college for a year now but I've been studying after work everyday so hopefully I'll pass
Hello, Ive heard that in FE exam it is better to leave the question that you cannot answer rather than guessing the answer . that would save you points, they said. What do you think?
Andrew Mai I am finishing up my masters in Geotechnical Engineering. Moving from Cali to Texas now will try my PE over there. Any tips for the PE exam??
@@luisnunes3758 Ooh geotech is good! My friend is in that. Good if you like field work. Unfortunately I don't have tips for the PE haha...one thing I can mention though is maybe pay the $2000 or $3000 price for a course. My friend failed a couple times and is now learning to pay for it =(....also see if your company will pay for your PE!
I'm taking EE but I'm still in my lower division Can I still prepare to take the exam if i haven't taken any upper division classes yet? I'm thinking of just buying the FE review manual and just go from there
hi all, I need advice i am electrical engineer was graduated 10 yrs ago and has been working as IT last 5 years and now I am thinking to take the FE civil exam? any idea if that will be very hard to do? or what is the good material to use to be able to do it? how long the preparation would take? Thanks a lot :)
N F It really depends on how much you remember your materials and how fast you can recall all the materials when you go through them. I would say six months would be a safe bet. Source: I am on a similar boat :p
N F Hi. I am schedule to take my civil FE on Aug. 15. I am using TH-cam to study the theory and I think that 3 months of of 3 hrs a day practicing should be enough (assuming that you are reviewing and not learning the material for the first time).Did you schedule your exam yet? Make sure that you know the Ncees booklet layout well! Good luck!
Josh Smith -Calvinist Klein- i took my exam on March 12th, 2018. I ordered a practice book off of Amazon for about $50. It suggests 60 days of studying with rest days here and there, however, I took about 30-35 days of raw studying. Keep in mind, I am in my senior year of electrical engineering. I got the results one week later that I passed. In my opinion, if I had to study something more in depth, I would definitely focus on the Electronics and Power sections a little more. I also purchased the practice exam from NCEES and did it a few days before my actual exam. The actual exam was a little more tough, but its still definitely manageable.
Greetings all I am trying to take the FE mechanical exam, I have been out of school for 10 year. I found some prep courses online(Kaplan, test masters, etc), I know they will cost a lot of money but my thing is this: is it worth the money and which one will be the best to choose?
I don't know which ones will be good, since I prefer not to pay for prep classes. However, if you believe it will help you pass, it will be worth the money. Think of it...if you can't pass the FE but the course helps, then eventually you will earn more money back. Paying for it now will give you potential money.
I did not so I am planning to take it again in the next 90 days. The answers of all questions were short. I recommend to buy the Kaplan Book where you should go through the questions at the end of each chapter then go through the examples at each chapter. There are a lot of free lectures for each subject on youTube.
dont think of money, think about the challenge you have ahead. dont worry about the worth of money, think about the knowledge you gain. "try to reach the sun if you fail you will be atleast among the stars". who ever wrote the test where human beings they all worked smart and reached their goal, now the "ball is in your court" give it a hit dont miss, dont hesitate, strive hard , examples are given to proof your selves.
Hi, I don't know when is the FE exam in the year? Because they won't let me see it unless I register and pay for the fee. if I fail, do I need to pay another $225 to retake it or the fee values within 1 year and I can retake it as long as in the same year without paying the fee again? Thank you
From what I understand, once you fail it, you'll have to repay the $225. I believe if you register, you'll be able to choose a date before making a final payment (they can't just place you on any day, due to special events like weddings, memorials, etc...)
+FelixtheMai thank you for your respond. I recently registered for it. I paid $225 and it's valid within a year. I can only see the available dates after I paid for it, but the good thing is that there are many dates I can choose.
FelixtheMai alright, thanks! But a lot of the materials in CBT are not covered by this old book and they are not publishing the new book any time soon. Any suggestion? I am EE btw.
MrLuckybug Dang, that's quite a predicament. You could try looking up EE specific books on Amazon, but they're not very good. My advice would be to try the book out, or look up the topics needed for EE and study that. If you have old books, should be helpful
I'm not so sure about that. the FE seems to be meant for students in the US, as that is where the certification is. If you become a citizen or have some kind of permit to work, you should be able to.
Yes, this license is required in US but preferred in other countries specially when you apply for a job in international company. you can apply and take the test in almost any country in the world.
You can take the test, but according to what i researched you wont get the certification as you get certified by the specific engineering licencing board in the US. I am living in UAE, and here there is a test center but according to what i understand i wont get the "EIT certification" if i pass the exam as there is no licencing board here.
+omar vich The Eit grading system doesn't work that way, they take the average of every person in your state who took it the same day as you, and if you beat the average you pass.
This answer might be a little stupid, but a board member from a medical board told me that this is how all nationwide board exams are graded unless a grading scale or passing percentage is stated.
Dude, thanks man, I really appreciate your pragmatic & humble approach to providing advice.
+A. Cota Thanks, glad you liked it! Hopefully I can post more videos soon in May, when school cools down.
Great video. I definitely like that there are no more general questions on the major specific tests. Also having more time per question is a serious plus.
Let's do it. Good luck bro.
Great tips, looking forward to taking the Environmental.
Hey did you take the Environmental FE? I may take it soon but there's not too many people who take the environmental one. Can you please let me know if its easy?! Thank you!!
The NEW new EIT is offered 8 times per year starting 2014. It is offered 2 months on and one month off, so Jan/Feb no march etc..
Thanks for the video, Im studying for FE for EE
No problem! Hope the video was helpful.
There is still a general section. It is call "other discipline."
Great tips man! I'm taking the FE/EIT in April and I just started reviewing last week (about 10-12 hours). Is there an FE Review Manual for the civil engineering exam after Jan 2014?
Excellent Tips. Thank You Very Much.

thanks Felix, you da man! great info!
I need to take this damn thing & get it behind me....I've been out of school for 8yrs....
Is the new material you are referring to the practice test on the ncees website? They are 50$ for 50 or 60 questions?
Where can I find the reference guide? I need it for practicing problems

DID YOU LATER WRITE THE EXAMS?
Hey Felix, did you take the new FE ? If so, how was the experience. I am taking the ME section in April.
Good advice. Especially no. 1. I can't tell you how many students i have tutored and/or mentored who look at me in disbelief and say the following: "You mean I have to read the book!" Lol.
Yeah, definitely. Gotta have the basis down haha.
Awesome ...!!!! :)) thank you so much

how many times can you take the EIT test?
What is the name and/or type of calculator that you showed in this video??
ti-36x pro. its $20 and works like a ti 83, but no graphing...pretty sweet.
Hello, Ive heard that in FE exam it is better to leave the question that you cannot answer rather than guessing the answer . that would save you points, they said. What do you think?
No, this is not true, wrong answers is the same as no answer.
I passed!! Thanks dude!
So glad to hear that!! Glad I could help =)
If you don't mind me asking what field are you trying to get into?
Andrew Mai I am finishing up my masters in Geotechnical Engineering. Moving from Cali to Texas now will try my PE over there. Any tips for the PE exam??

What book was that that you used to study?
Would we be provided a blank hardcopy paper to do our calculations during the exam? or we expected to solve them in our mind?
Nah, you get a booklet for scratch paper. That would suck!
What is the passing grade out of 110 questions? I am sorry if I sound stupid but I have no idea about it :)
is there any objective types of questions in the acfual FE exam ?
does any one know the reviews of the new CBT fe exam?? any hints?
I'm taking EE but I'm still in my lower division
Can I still prepare to take the exam if i haven't taken any upper division classes yet?
I'm thinking of just buying the FE review manual and just go from there
Will I be given a paper and a pencil to solve the questions on the computer based exam?

whats a E reference ?
can you give me the link how to buy the review manual?
www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=fe+review+manual
hi,
so you say 60 % is needed to pass. 66/110. 60%. so one can miss 44 questions?

Do you really need that long to prepare? I think I just have a month. I am a first year grad student.

Thank you FelixtheMai

hi,
so you say 60 % is needed to pass. 66/110. 60%. so one can miss 44 questions?
Myself and others got between 55-60 and we did not pass. Either we were unlucky at the time to meet the curve or it's more like 60+.
