Hey Augustin, thank you and it is nice to hear from you! I hope you're doing well and feel free to email me at hello@engenieer.com if you need anything!
I've been trying to study for the Mechanical FE for nearly 7 months post-graduation. I watched this video months ago, and came back to review it again. The biggest obstacle is that studying is super-monotonous and boring, and most normal people would rather be doing something else, especially after years of school and no weekends. I have the Lindeburg book, and initially followed the book's study plan sequentially...but quickly got bogged down in subjects I hadn't taken in awhile, or didn't really learn. I scheduled the exam well in advance to give me some "schedule pressure" as motivation (in hindsight, that was a mistake), but now I've only 6 weeks left, and am going to try your "triage" approach so I can study effectively and in a timely fashion. That's probably the most important piece of advice I've gotten from other licensed PE's in my workgroup...and the number one impediment to people taking the FE. You have to be highly efficient; if it turns into a slog, many (not all) people are going to either give up, or get distracted by work/family/life.

Hello, so in this video, th-cam.com/video/sVu6L6dfzQQ/w-d-xo.html, I talk about the breaks and how to flag the questions. But I will also tell you more about it here. So for the FE exam, you do get a break after you finish about 50 questions, the monitor will ask you if you want to take a break or just skip it. I definitely recommend taking the 25 min break. Before you take the break, you will submit your answers, which you CANNOT change after the break, so make sure you answer all the questions. During the break, you can have access to the locker, and you can also bring food and water with you, so you could have it during the break. To the point where i couldn't use my handbook lol.. personally i think FE is all about luck due to the type of questions you will get.. ended up being unsure about 40 of the problems :/
Hello Alyssa, I am sorry to hear about your test! I heard from many of my students that the FE exam (2019) has a lot more conceptual questions than used to. I am not sure why they are changing that, maybe because they want to test students on concepts, rather then solving problems. Anyways, in my channel, whenever I solve a problem, I try to go over the concepts as much as I can, so that you guys will be able to tackle any given problem! I will try to post more conceptual questions in the upcoming videos. Earlier I thought of taking exam during first week of April. But now I am very nervous , and planning to take in the month of May.
Hello, I would recommend that you take as many practice exams as you can. Also, when you are solving the problems, try to focus on understanding the concepts as well, rather than just getting the right answer. From my own experience, I found that the FE practice exam has same level of difficulties as my exam. I would just really focus on your weaknesses and do as many problems as you can. If you are not confident to take it this month and you feel like you need more time to study and grasp the materials, then postponing is probably a good idea. Feeling confident about your exam can hugely affect your performance. I hope this helps and good luck!

To exaggerate, lets SAY I get all questions wrong from structures or maybe surveying and get all other correct getting total 80% of questions right(all of structures and surveying wrong totaling to 20% ) . Will I pass? This is exaggeration but I hope you get my point. Please respond soon,I studied hard for a month during this break,Did not have any fun and I am totally depressed .Thank you
Hello, well first I am really sorry to hear about your exam! Second, try to take deep breadth and wait for the results before you draw any conclusions. I am pretty sure you guessed some of the answers, so who knows, may be you got some of them right. Also, try to stay positive right now, and the worse case scenario, just study the subjects you did not do well on them and just retake it. Now I honestly not exactly sure how the grading works, and I don't want to stress you out more, but I think if you get zero in one of the subjects, I think you may not pass. But if you do get 80% total, you will most likely pass because the average is usually 69% for FE Civil. It is really hard to say but my only advice to you right now, is try to do something fun, maybe be with family and try to forget about it till you get your result back. I hope this helps and I hope you passed 😊
@@Genieprep By using the example of zero correct answer in one of the subject,I just wanted to take it worst case and guess what happens.I am confident that I got atleast 50% correct in stell and structures(other subjects were very impressive,I was weak in Steel and strucrture and yet managed 50% of them right). Does each question has equal weightage of 1 ? I saw some kind of scaling online on FE discussion forum that they will be compared against all other examinee and will score mine as percentile of their population.Any idea about this ?
And how long does it usually take to get result ?I know about 7-10 days that they mention but I heard they usually send result the wednesday of next week. When did you get yours ? Thanks for info.
@@intothenature6415 Yes I think that is correct, the whole test is based on curve. Now I really think you are going to be fine. It looks like you did really well like 80% of the questions, which gives you a very high chance passing the exam! Yes that is about right, you will get your test on next Wednesday!
Corneal35, you don't need to memorize all the equations, in the exam, you will have access to the reference manual that has all the equations that you will need for your exam. However, for some topics, like transportation, some equations are not provided in the manual (I am not sure why) and you will have to remember them because you will get those questions on your exam. (I actually posted a video discussion those concepts and equations that you must remember for transportation). I hope this answers your question 😊

Yes that is about right, you will get your test on next Wednesday!
o hell do you have to memorize all the equations?
Corneal35, you don't need to memorize all the equations, in the exam, you will have access to the reference manual that has all the equations that you will need for your exam. However, for some topics, like transportation, some equations are not provided in the manual (I am not sure why) and you will have to remember them because you will get those questions on your exam. (I actually posted a video discussion those concepts and equations that you must remember for transportation). I hope this answers your question 😊
