Before i finish watching this video, i gotta applaud how great your content and editing has gotten since i discovered your channel over a year ago. You are killing it and amazing y'all grew so many tomatoes and gave us awesome tomato reviews to watch. Keep being awesome! 🌻
🥰😊😊thank you so much for this. To know my efforts aren’t going unnoticed means the world to me. I always strive to make content that would be something that I would like to watch. So I put alot of me into it. And yes, I do everything on my phone.
Great Video Jen! I got to tell y'all, the Green Giant (first time growing a GWR) was the best thing I have ever had to eat that I have grown. Just like you said the brightness, tartness, sweetness, juicy meatiness was just slap ya in the face. A great review Jen. Thanks for all you do !
Thank you for such a great list of your top 25! I didn't grow a single one of the 25. The effort you put into this season was amazing and it makes me sad that tomato season is over. The bad news is I can see my seed bill and my seed inventory is going to grow out of control! 😉I can't wait for your worst list. I am guessing there are a few on that list I probably have grown. I can't wait to see. Catherine K.
😊🥰thanks a bunch for such a lovely comment to read. A seed addiction is the best one to have. The worst list is almost edited. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my channel 🥰
A really fine video jen. I don't know how you can rattle off those descriptions so quickly. Definitely found some to add to my list. I may have a row in my garden called Jens top 25!
Thank you. I’m thrilled you appreciate it. It took me forever to edit the thing. The idea that I will have a row in your garden makes me smile ear to ear. I love the name of it too. Thank you for making me feel so special dear friend. 🥰
OMG just realized tomatofifu is back and running yay! And there's new varieties to choose too 😁 ( ex: Isis Brandy- cross between Isis candy and a yellow Brandywine 💕)
I keep going on there and adding so many to my cart but then talk myself out of it. 🤣🤣 I know I’ll eventually break down or black out one night and end up with a package full of Tomatofifuo tomatoes. 😁
Oh wow. After growing and eating them and talking about them so much this year they don’t seem all that exotic to me now. It’s nice to know they still are for others.
I’ve fallen in love with all the tomatoes. I love growing them all. I don’t however enjoy the taste of all the Antho varieties but they can still be so pretty and still easy to save seeds from them for trading. ❤️
Like Cheryl also guessed … your worst tasting would be a close tie between Ananas Blue and Chupa Chups. I will guess Chupa Chups since you talked about it so much. Another great video, Jen. I have them all except for Romovaya Baba😢
If I can find seed I'm going to try Meat Breakfast and Black Milo. Thanks for the video! Really enjoyed it and a couple of your others as well A few I would highly recommend are Earl's Faux, Red Barn, Oncle Remi, Lee's Sweet, Lloyd E Fry and Wanda's Potato Top for slicers Lithium Sunset would be another Another Careteno and Jaunne Flamme would be a couple smaller tomatoes about the size of a golf ball
@@jencordial Sure thing Jen! I'm growing a few different ones this next year. It's so cool what you and Ben do. Not many people like/enjoy tomato taste testing. Or, at least they don't know if they would. Heirlooms are so much better. Growing them is a cool hobby!
Porkchop is a delicious beautiful yellow you might like. Also, Solar Flare with yellow/red stripes. My favorite producer is Golden Medal and my favorite over all that I save seeds for and will always have space in my garden is Dr Whyce’s. This was a great video!
I’ve grown all of those you mentioned in previous years. I love pork chop and Dr Wyche’s very much. I think they were in taste tests of 2022. They can grow some whoppers too.
Jen, your worst (tasting) had to be Ananas Bleue. Your face told of a classic spitter. I didn't catch where you got seeds of Black Mamba from. Also I'm surprised Blushing Bride didn't make it into your top 25. Thanks for all your great videos.
🤣🤣I think you could possibly be right. Oh and trust me Blushing Bride was so so close. It really took me a lot of time and thought to narrow my list down from probably around 40. I’ve even thought of doing a runner up video. 😊
Two I know you really didn’t like were ananas bleu and church chups! Thanks for this list of 25. I didn’t have my pen and paper ready so I’m watching a second time!
I have a question I’m still wondering about. Do these heirloom crosses grow true from seed like regular heirlooms? Or are they like F1 hybrids? I’ve grown tomatoes for years and years but the only heirloom I’ve ever grown is Cherokee Purple. Now I’m dipping my toe into the pool and trying two heirlooms. One of the reasons I’ve not grown them is I live in the PNW and though we have a long season, it’s not hot at all. Hope you have time to answer my question. Love your taste testing videos!
Ok that’s a great question with a complicated answer. So all new crosses are hybrids at first but you have to save seeds and grow a bunch from the cross and rinse and repeat until you’ve stabilized the tomato that you’re going for. It’s complicated I know. But some really awesome tomato varieties are created this way.
Ok, let me get this straight- if 2 heirlooms are crossed they are not technically heirlooms any more? So when someone says ‘this is a new heirloom, it’s a really not? It’s a hybred. Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me. Will you even start hybridizing your own tomatoes? One of my hobbies is hybridizing daylilies. It’s a lesson in patience since it takes two to three years to see the new bloom.
Malachite is my fave Green but haven' tried Abraham. Green Giant Dwarf grew to 8' plus and I didn't care for it. How would you compare Abraham green to Malachite? Wow - My Pink Berkeley Tie Dye (Baker Creek) is Tart as hell for me. Super tart. I won't grow them again unless I believe Baker's seeds are 'off'.
Unless we try we never find favorites. I'd joined a seed saving website and trade a few and quickly had over 30 different varieties and after planting only had 24 surviving and that Black Beauty is 1 tomatoes my wife and I both rated the worst ever. But did we have a experience testing it was interesting.Found black Brandywine as favorite and Thourburg Terracotta as great Midnight Snack best snacking tomato Candy Land Red is the best salad. . Great that TH-cam are showing some ideas as just what is out there. Thanks I've seen about 6 TH-camrs claiming my Thourburg Terracotta as one of the best. Its delicious buy itself I've myself wasn't happy with it on my sandwich and it the only whole tomato I've eaten and did it 4 times each time said WOW! My neighbor from Central America loves it in her cooking quadimulla and other dishes she cooks all the time.
The one you spit out! Worse than Chupa Chups. If it wasn’t Ananias Blue, then my silly self forgot to record it! But I’m catching your “Worst” video, so I’ll be ok!
You were totally right. Both of those were gross. But there’s a couple of other Chup Chups varieties that I now must try to see if they are just as bad. I’ve heard that Chupa Chups pink is actually good.
