I wasn't expecting much but this was a very positive interview for the Greens. Adrian was clear and concise and had a coherent answer for every question asked, even the "gotcha" ones.
I’m not sure Sunak and Starmer have agreed to be interviewed by Channel 4 News in such a style as this, whether by KGM or otherwise! I will say as a non-affiliated (political or media or otherwise) viewer that Ch4 News has robustly questioned members of both those parties in interviews before (while not necessarily part of this election campaign), even though many of those times I would have liked them to push harder! I’m not sure the aggressive line taken here by KGM is necessarily what anyone needed though, including referring to policies and candidates as “crackpot” and “crazy” (two ableist slurs for a start, and I know both Ch4 and KGM are better than that!)
@@dingopisscreekyou don’t think that’s an issue? That in a democracy to only vote for two parties? If everyone actually voted for who they believed in it wouldn’t be an issue
Agreed! An 80 seat majority on only 43 % of the total vote has served up factional and divisive politics and a Cabinet failing to deal with the economic consequences of EU withdrawal and immigration, Covid and war in Europe. More people would vote for change if their vote really counted. PR of some sort is urgent, to break the cycle of safe seat, tactical voting and central office managed candidates.
Yes. But party lists and/or complicated voting and/or MPs without a constituency? How about, If no candidate gets more than 50% then they decide amongst themselves, with each casting the number of votes they received.
Great interview Adrian - well done. The interviewer was quite tough on you but it made you really bring out policies to life and make than relevant to the current political situation. Great work …
Guru-Murphy clearly demonstrating his own bias in this interview. "Weird and wonderful" is used to brand parties as irrelevant and eccentric. Poor performance from interviewer and Adrian really held his own against this charlatan. Greens have never been bigger in the UK, Guru-Murphy needs to do better homework!
I think this is the first time I’ve actually heard Adrian speak. I usually only see or hear from Zack Polanski (who I like). But yeah, good for him for taking control of the narrative and having the cojones to propose anything other than different flavours of neoliberalism.
Dude really got flustered a few times there, but impressively held his nerve and got his words out. It's infuriating that the Overton window doesn't allow conversations that will truly benefit "ordinary" people, let alone tackle the climate crisis to any meaningful extent because that's just not profitable for the multi-nationals and threatens the status quo which got the powerful and influential into the positions they have. If we had a functioning democracy in this nation, Labour wouldn't be able to coast to an easy victory by saying they're going to do nothing substantive for anyone, thus we're not doing to see the electoral changes required without taking to the streets in the kind of ways that Brits just don't do, especially when they're not being properly informed as to why they need to 😢 It's such a sad state of affairs, I truly despair.
Glad the greens are getting more attention from the media, crazy how some small right wing parties with no where near the support of the greens get all the focus 💚
Amazing Greens. The three main guys are Carla Denyer, Adrian Ramsey and Zack Polanski. ALL are vegan and as far as I am concerned, on the right side of history. ALL three are EXCELLENT speakers too. Carla was spokesperson on the the 2, 7-way political debates on TV. She did brilliant. Has been a vegan for many a year. Adrian Ramsey: 'As a vegan for 25 years and a member of Animal Aid since a teenager, I have a strong track record of campaigning on animal rights issues both within and outside the party.' Zack Polanski is Jewish - fighting for Palestinian rights - and been vegan for four years and was vegetarian for ten years before that. They CARE on every front 💚💚💚
I think that Adrian performed very well in this interview and I'm very happy that he's co-leader. I hope he becomes an MP but sadly the Tories will probably win where he's standing.
Why is Guru-Murthy going on about the Greens being leftists? We need (PR) proportional representation. Labour keeping the two child benefit cap is abhorrent as is Labours stance on Palestinian. I'm voting Green in Stockton West.
A 20 minute interview showing how Adrian Ramsay was well briefed, unlike KG-M who tried to resurrect the old ‘third party is a wasted vote criticism ‘ - usually directed at the Liberals. Trying to pigeonhole someone as too left didn’t work either . Credit to Channel 4 for opening the door to alternative candidates. Perhaps the next step is to include urgent discussion for electoral system change- given the disastrous prospects of a future government based on a glaringly worn out 2 party system.
I thought it was a very good interview and Adrian Ramsay did very well. Unlike other commenters I believe KGM did Adrian a huge favour by putting him through his paces. Respect to both.
I will be voting green again nothings perfect but at least they are talking like adults on policys that matter don't know what the interviewers talking about and neither does he mind you it's not him talking its his earpiece saying what his paymasters tell him to
Not impressed with KGM here. We want to know what the Greens would do. They are clearly a rising force to be taken seriously. Show some respect and offer fair coverage please. Despite this Ramsey did remarkably well and better than starmer or sunak would have, for sure.
Why hasn't Channel 4 interviewed the Labour and Tory leaders in the same way as this extended, deeper-explored examination of potential future policies of the political parties?
They don't need to agree to tough interviews to get coverage. Heck, they don't even need coverage, Labour's going to win, Tories are gonna get smashed, it's only a few [almost] meaningless percentage swings that'll occur from them. It's frightening there may be no "left of centre" party with a seat in England.

Technically, it is too late. To have a chance at keeping most of our infrastructure where it is, for what it's there for, we need to be extracting carbon/methane/water vapour from the atmosphere at a substantial rate, using "clean" energy that we're just not going to have. For the head scratchers ... there's a significant delay between cause and effect with the climate, the gasses we're pumping out now won't be reflected in the temperature change for several years.
