I've been a musician virtually my whole life ( I started playing drums when I was 4 years old). I've played around the world and recorded in Nashville, worked with many famous musicians and toured the US from coast to coast. The one thing that I have found in my many years in the business, is that for every artists that makes it big, there are hundreds, even thousands, who are just as good and even better, that never get discovered, and are never heard about by the general public.
The difference here... this was a crime against humanity..... The greed bigotry and coward ness that hid this from tge world deserves no less than his own name erased from history
I cannot understand how talent like Joanna Connors does not get the recognition she deserves WHAT A TALENT now I have found her never going to her go !!!
Because, unlike Samantha Fish, Ana Popovich, Orianthi, etc., she lacks their sex appeal but is an authentic blues woman. I would love to have seen her and SRV on the same stage. I think he would give her, due respect
@@commanderthorkilj.amundsen3426 I have to agree with you and the reverse is also true, if a woman guitar player is sexy she will get lots of gigs even if she is barely capable I am 65 and I will say that this is true all over the world for example thanks to covid I have not been to a gym in three yrs and I have gained weight , and my own self image, has been damaged by the weight I have gained and the muscle I have lost I do not even want to go out to be seen and judged negatively in public thank god for youtube where I can enjoy the great blues players of the world in the safety of my own room without people's negativity
I have watched so many of her videos. My amazement increases, Chicago's crown jewel. Joanna Connor is indisputably the best guitarist that ever breathed in the history of humanity. Tell me I'm wrong.
I had the pleasure of catching Joanna play at Kingston Mines years ago and it was if a light had been turned on. She plays the blues proper. Joanna Carter is the truth!!!!!
@@kathryndrake5928 yeah, i read in the comments below some disparaging things about her playing (she's out of tune, her solo makes no sense) well, to each is own but all that aside the woman puts it all out there. i mean to my ears she's giving it everything she's got. i'd also say nowadays we listen to a softer blues, a more homogenized kind of playing. for me it sounds a lot like albert king or the first bluesbreakers album. raunchy. the woman has some serious technique. i like it!!
Wait for it... I thought it was a bit off at first, listening through crappy phone speakers. I grabbed my Beats and gave it another go. Holy crap! I haven’t checked yet, maybe tuned different, but damn. She hit every emotion and syllable she meant with that guitar, and I felt privileged to hear it. Bravo! That is freakin talent and it’s a travesty she makes less than ALL the crap they pump out of the radio.
Joanna Connor is one of the best Slide Guitar players ever. On this video she takes a little break from her slide playing to play some regular old Rock/Blues by Hendrix via Clapton. She has always been great. She used to be a skinny young blues player who returned as a middle aged mother. No one cares what she may be once she starts playing and singing. And she may be the best blues musician alive. You have to listen to her slide.
OMG.... . Can anyone else see what's really happening here??? She found it.. the gift, the note, the sound.. she found her place and what she was given to give... Cheers from San Antonio Texas
I just happened to watch this video when, I decided to "ask God to dance" for the first time... (WHAT an "experience" !!! it was ... ) LOVE this lady AND, her version of this song ! };-{~
She's an enigma to me- I've played for 30 years & I've never heard someone who is so good but plays out of key- she's totally amazing but for some reason she goes off course every now & again- I'm confounded by her
I do not believe in 59 years I have seen any woman as good as she is, and there are a very great many but Joanna has mastered those 6 strings. Like Joe Bonamassa she can probably play any genre that exists and do it well.
She's the real deal binged watched all her stuff on a Saturday night with a bottle of Johnny walker black wow didn't want to be anywhere else my neighbors probably wished I was I rocked my house

So true. One of my favorites vids here on YT is a Hendrix cover of Red House by John Langford. On acoustic no less.
I know what you mean man, I'm still waiting.
Roger that

Every time I watch her, I cry. I’ve played guitar for over 30 years, and she literally drills each note into my soul. Unbelievable musician.
I couldn't have said it better! Thank you!
What an amazing guitarist! Spread the word. Promote this band.
God bless ❤️. She is one of the best guitarists-ever. Great tribute and to her children
Thanks to TH-cam. I never heard about Joanna before. She's talented, great blues singer and musician. Another great blues player to remember!🤗
Just discovered her. I'm 52 years old and have lived a life without this music in my ears. Thanks BluesBroad!
Good to know the greatest living guitarist is a woman. A return to creativity!
How can anyone downvote this? Little Wing is so insanely awesome to play and so few women can play it this well. Bravo, Joanna!
Earlier this January I discovered Joe Bonamassa and now I discover Joanna Connor. Best start of the year ever.
I have watched so many of her videos. My amazement increases, Chicago's crown jewel. Joanna Connor is indisputably the best guitarist that ever breathed in the history of humanity. Tell me I'm wrong.
SHE IS THE BEST I have heard in a while. I wish blues musicians got more recognition.
I just love this woman!! She plays with reckless abandon and it's just so awesome!! 😎👍
That is one of the best les paul sounds i ever heard. Killing it!
God, Joanna. You made me cry. So beautiful.
The Blues Mama of 2019!!
There is not enough room in the place for that, pure soul if i ever heard it.
That guitar playing & voice !! ♥ Why isn't she more famous ??
Because sadly, people loves reaggeaton :((
She is not a Satanist and loves children. Red flag for the industry.
Cause she looks like a mom. Sadly talent isn't just about talent to most people :/
@@PedroCota90 nobody loves that garbage
Because she is not in a bikini using autotune
A GREAT GODDESS ON THE GUITAR, ALL MY RESPECT TO THIS GREAT LADY. SENDING YOU A HUG, MRS. JOANNA CONNOR
HOLY CRAP!!! This woman is the real deal!
Wow! I just discovered her, and feel like I've been living in a cave all these years; she's awesome!

Often described as the greatest guitarist you’ve never heard of Rory Gallagher
Proper excites me this one.... unreal
With her, and her band, you can clearly see that real ability and true passion have nothing to do with commercial success and notoriety.
