I've been a musician virtually my whole life ( I started playing drums when I was 4 years old). I've played around the world and recorded in Nashville, worked with many famous musicians and toured the US from coast to coast. The one thing that I have found in my many years in the business, is that for every artists that makes it big, there are hundreds, even thousands, who are just as good and even better, that never get discovered, and are never heard about by the general public.
So true. One of my favorites vids here on YT is a Hendrix cover of Red House by John Langford. On acoustic no less.

Because, unlike Samantha Fish, Ana Popovich, Orianthi, etc., she lacks their sex appeal but is an authentic blues woman. I would love to have seen her and SRV on the same stage. I think he would give her, due respect

I am 65 and I will say that this is true all over the world
for example thanks to covid I have not been to a gym in three yrs and I have gained weight , and my own self image, has been damaged by the weight I have gained and the muscle I have lost
I do not even want to go out to be seen and judged negatively in public
thank god for youtube where I can enjoy the great blues players of the world in the safety of my own room without people's negativity

@@kathryndrake5928 yeah, i read in the comments below some disparaging things about her playing (she's out of tune, her solo makes no sense) well, to each is own but all that aside the woman puts it all out there. i mean to my ears she's giving it everything she's got. i'd also say nowadays we listen to a softer blues, a more homogenized kind of playing. for me it sounds a lot like albert king or the first bluesbreakers album. raunchy. the woman has some serious technique. i like it!!

Wait for it... I thought it was a bit off at first, listening through crappy phone speakers. I grabbed my Beats and gave it another go. Holy crap! I haven’t checked yet, maybe tuned different, but damn. She hit every emotion and syllable she meant with that guitar, and I felt privileged to hear it. Bravo!
That is freakin talent and it’s a travesty she makes less than ALL the crap they pump out of the radio.

Joanna Connor is one of the best Slide Guitar players ever. On this video she takes a little break from her slide playing to play some regular old Rock/Blues by Hendrix via Clapton. She has always been great.
She used to be a skinny young blues player who returned as a middle aged mother. No one cares what she may be once she starts playing and singing. And she may be the best blues musician alive.
You have to listen to her slide.
I don’t know this guitarist, if she is good or not, but Little Wing is better to leave to other guitarist.

I had the pleasure of catching Joanna play at Kingston Mines years ago and it was if a light had been turned on. She plays the blues proper. Joanna Carter is the truth!!!!!

the fact that you don't see or hear anything other than what we've seen on TH-cam about this person should tell you what the music industry and the movie industry is going to mean for us when they're putting their.... Product! Out there!..... Even though the musicians that are out there that are female have talent.... They also look like pornstars and strippers..... This is an educational point on fairness..... Just like what Trump is trying to do with China and those other European countries and fair trade.... What would the music in history and movie industry be like if it was truly a fair trade! A woman like this would get a fair shot at reaching the top in her field just as anyone else could.... For example.... Who is Donald Trump? Answer... And some parents used to tell their children you can grow up to be president one day! there is no statement in that quote that says anything we're a parent tell their child.... You have to grow up find out how to become a career politician then work your way up to being president from there .... The problem is isn't Jone.... She rocks! I look forward to seeing lots more of her and hearing some original stuff too.... I'm glad she's out there doing her thing kicking the music industry in the nuts!

Except Koss, the others are technically better..BUT...No one steps on yer Heart or Soul as she does....So f.cking pure and real....And she doesnt give a damn where she plays, in the backyard with 12 people or Madison Squaregarden.!!!!

I do not believe in 59 years I have seen any woman as good as she is, and there are a very great many but Joanna has mastered those 6 strings. Like Joe Bonamassa she can probably play any genre that exists and do it well.
Most people here are complaing she is playing too many notes that don't make sense. Have you ever hear Herbie Hancock? I feel the same about him. Or jazz in general for that matter. Maybe you just aren't into it as deep as she is.

Check out some of her other videos, some are better than this and most are slide guitar. My observation: she enjoys what she’s doing and if you dig it, that’s what it’s all about. She has played a long time and used to be young and skinnier if that matters to you. She’s got some chops but at this point in her career much of it sounds like she’s just phoning it in to me. I do think it’s cool that she still cares and enjoys it enough to go out and play. I can relate to her situation but at our peaks, she was still better than me. 🙂
