St. Jude doesn’t only take care of children with cancer, my brother was born with a cardiac condition, and St Jude’s Children Hospital covered all of his medical expenses AND his funeral cost. He unfortunately passed away when he was four months old.
Thank you, Matt & Abby for supporting and promoting this AMAZING organization. They really helped my family out during a scary & confusing time. If you’re reading this, and you’re able to spare it, please donate a dollar. You’re helping more than you could ever know 🫶🏻

My husbands treatment for Non-Hotchkins Lymphoma plus an airplane he never got to take cost over $250,000, but was covered 100% through my health insurance from my work, such a blessing. With St. Jude everything all covered and housing for parents is a huge blessing.

A family really close to us has a son (Brecken Owen) who is a cancer survivor. He was diagnosed when he was 2 and has been in cancer free for 2 or 3 years now and he is 7. They spent that time in Memphis and they never made them pay a thing. His mom, Valerie Owens, has a business now that she donates to St. Jude through that and does several fundraisers to raise awareness and give back. They would love to spread there story!

Such an inspiring episode! My 2 year old was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes last year and was admitted into the local children’s hospital and had to stay in the PICU. Me and my husband were so devastated and emotional. But the moment that I walked down the hall of children in critical condition, I knew that our situation was small compared to theirs. My son has the ability to take insulin and get another chance at life. Some of these children don’t get that and it really makes you not take life for granted. These stories made me so hopeful and I’m so glad you guys are spreading the word for them and helping out a great cause!

I believe a cancer diagnosis is always harder on the loved ones than the patient. I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer 4 years ago at age 22 and the hardest part has been seeing how it affects my family. My boyfriend at the time stuck with me and became my husband 2 years later, and our sweet daughter was born last December. I am much more afraid something happening to either of them than my cancer returning

  • @-Swifties-

I can’t imagine what it’s like to have cancer at such a young age or even at all. I have had 3 brain tumors and I also have epilepsy. My last one was turning into bone marrow. I had my last surgery on the 23rd of January. It was awful. I would not wish that pain on my worst enemy. I am 14 and I have never found someone with the same experience and I am both happy and sad. It is awful knowing no one relates, but I am happy that they don’t have to go through that pain. I am hoping that they are all doing well. I feel bad that they had to experience the pain they have. I am happy they are all doing well now though. My goal is to become a neurologist to help people that have any kind of tumor. It would have loved to have someone who understands what I went through. I want to help people just like my doctor did for me and like them.

My son didn’t go to st. Jude but to Nationwide Childrens and I understand this mamas outlook of every day is a gift and being so thankful for everything they do for you. I was a single mom to a 12 month old little boy when I learned he had a brain tumor with severe hydrocephalus and that he needed an emergency tumor removal, once removed they let me know it was indeed stage 4 brain cancer and he’d need lengthy treatment. I was told not to worry about any bills, that I’d never see one and to just focus on my son. I lost my job, had to move back in with my parents, and had to have help with my car payment every month, but they were always one step ahead and helped in every way they could. I’ll be forever grateful for all that they did, including saving my sons life 😢❤

Child Life Specialists are literal angels on the care team! They support children’s psychosocial development, educate patients (as well as the whole family) on their illness in ways they understand, prep for procedures, provide procedural support and post-procedural processing, and they help kids cope and continue being kids through play while they are in the hospital. They are amazing! I am currently going through the steps to become a Child Life Specialist. It is truly a calling and pediatric cancer is what inspired me to take this career path 💛🎗️

I absolutely love St Jude, always have always will! One of my very best friends had a 12 year old son that was a patient there in 2019. The lived at the Ronald Mcdonald house near there. Braxton was diagnosed with DIPG, a rare and aggressive tumor to the brain stem. So far there have been no survivors of this. The average survival rate for this is 9 months. He passed just a little over 9 months to the day of diagnosis. It was so hard to watch them go through this but at the same time, I had a peace because he had given his heart to the Lord about a year before. For nine months they always kept their eyes on Him and now, they have an amazing testimony! He also donated his tumor to the hospital for research. No one should ever have to hear that their child has cancer but thank the Lord for St. Jude!

This episode made me cry. These ladies are so strong. My heart goes out for everyone, adult or child, big or small, who has cancer. I loved this episode. It gave me even more respect for parents with children who are struggling with cancer. ❤❤❤

I absolutely loved hearing their stories! I typically dont like to listen to the radio-a-thons because the stories are sad and it reminds me of my sister who passed away with Non-Hodkins Lymphoma in 2003. This was very eye opening and brought a lot of the good that St. Jude does to light!

As someone that is from a third world country, I never even imagined a place like St Jude’s. Like really, that is heaven to someone going through cancer.
Wao! I am just amazed. I would do whatever I can to donate a reasonable amount to this place. Loved it.
Gracias mi gente! Merci pour votre aide.

This was so informative and heartwarming because a lot of people are sceptical because they don't know where the money actually goes but this will help people know that the donation goes 100% into st. Jude and the kids. Loved this episode

Thank you for making and helping to evolve these young family you tube podcast content. It was done with such helping hearts and the good that can come from this far outweighs watching a young family go to the beach. Going to the beach is good for some content but to start meaningful discussion is appreciated. Thank You. I have donated in the past and plan to again.

As someone who’s grown up in Canada it still shocks me that the states can’t just go to the hospital when needed. Thank heavens for places like ST Jude in the states. Nobody should have to worry about having to pay to get life saving treatments

I love that y’all are doing this. I have a cousin that has been in remission for 6 years and she was at St. Jude. I also had a classmate that passed away a few months after our summer graduation in 2020 but his story and his family touched me and I have tons of memories from the visit I made to the stories I have heard. ❤❤❤❤

First of all, I want to say that I love St.Jude. I work at Marshall’s part time and there is a time during holiday season where we have the donation for St.Jude children’s research hospital. As someone that works with kids, I can’t ever imagine a child having cancer however knowing that st Jude can save so many lives that just makes my heart so happy. I love hearing these survivor stories. Just think if you could save one life, try to put yourself in the other persons shoes, what would you do if you or your child had cancer? God allows miracles happen every day. ❤

Suggestion: I'm not sure if you can do this post-publishing 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just listened to the audio version of the episode and loved it, but you may want to say a warning at the top that pregnancy loss and infertility are discussed for those just listening to new episodes through in their feeds. I haven't had a pregnancy loss, but I've experienced infertility and I know others who have lost a pregnancy and this can be difficult to listen to if they have just experienced that and aren't expecting it. This is especially true since it is right at the top of your episode. Thanks for a great listen and for supporting an awesome cause!

@@ParkererwinLakersfan242 Yeah, I'm more thinking of people who listen to it and it starts playing automatically after a different episode or podcast. That's how I usually listen. Most podcasts I've heard give warnings at the top for this reason to prepare people or give them a chance to stop if they aren't ready for it at that moment.
