    Mighty nice when even the fish are excited to help you fan the gravels/sand for treats.
    Thats rather rough looking flakes too.....hmm.

    Looks like you are near me on this one. I live in Rainier OR up the road from PNW Prospecting. Maybe I'll see you out there one day. Quick question, Where do you get your prospecting tools around here? Can't find a bait pump or hand dredge anywhere. Happy hunting!

    • @prospectingforadventure
      @prospectingforadventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah Gannon at PNW is a good friend of mine! We both get our gear at Prospectors Treasure Trove. It's a new shop by 205 and Allen. The biggest selection of prospecting gear you'll be able to find around here.

    Sweet gold dandy flake & good job on your content Sir. Just curious what type & thickness of wetsuit do you recommend for sniping in Idaho's cold water Chris since you have similar creek conditions ?

    • @prospectingforadventure
      @prospectingforadventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I'm trying to put out quality content. I wear a 6mm 2 part suit. Bought it off Facebook marketplace for $75. The two piece suit doubles the layers on the core, equaling 12mm. I also wear gloves, hood, and 7mm socks.

    what wet suite n snorkel you using? thanks

    • @dananorth895
      @dananorth895 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a Farmer John style wetsuit they come up as a chest bib with velcro shoulder straps. They're usually 5' to 6 millimeters thick so 10 to 12 over core. Sometimes you can score one online, I did at about $40.00.
      Added elbow and kneepads.

  • @kennethgreene7124
    @kennethgreene7124 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What kind of wet suit do you have and what size? And do you like it and is it comfortable? Im just curious because i want to get one for sniping but im not sure what kind and what size. Im about the same build as you and i here of people getting suits that end up being too small. I also dont want to get one thats way too big either

    • @prospectingforadventure
      @prospectingforadventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Id have to check the brand. This suit is an XL farmer John 7mm 2 piece suit. So you have 14mm on the core. Older suits fit tighter as they lose flexibility. I just bought an XXL and like it better. I'm 6' around 225 lb. The other suit used to fit better. Lol I look for used ones and wash them really well. They get beat up anyway.

    So you're just allowed to take apart the riverbed?

    • @prospectingforadventure
      @prospectingforadventure  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As long as it's not up against the river bank wear it can cause erosion. This does not affect fish runs either. These are not spawning gravels.

    • @brookmelee5983

      @@prospectingforadventure I mean, it is fry structure.

    • @prospectingforadventure
      @prospectingforadventure  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      And it's still structure. This area doesn't have salmon and steelhead runs. Plus we aren't allowed to work in the wetted perimeter during spawning seasons. The little fish love all the food I kick up and are surprisingly curious.

    • @dananorth895

  • @MaizeANDBlue1957
    @MaizeANDBlue1957 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Boy. Those salmon smolts sure are curious. You should have brought a frozen block of 'brine shrimp' to feed them. LOL
    I'm just about to get started looking for gold here in Oregon. I'll also be looking in creeks and rivers falling from Mt. Hood, but for the time being I'll be using a pointer, a crevice tool and a pan. (maybe a portable shop vac)
    No wet-suit for this fat old man!

    • @prospectingforadventure
      @prospectingforadventure  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just some local trout. There are no salmon or steelhead in this section of the river. It's a lot of fun watching them! I had one the other day swim down and suck up a gold flake I was about to retrieve. I guess he identifies as a gold fish. Lol
