Man, you got that right. Everyday, I wonder what the young music lovers today have that makes their skin tingle and hair stand up in attention like this piece does for me. I first heard it around 1968 and still sends me into orbit.
Nah. The talent is still around, but the industry is a mess. Most of the best talent gets missed, although it would still be hard to match Winwood and Traffic.
This is the kinda of mystical song that plays for over 50 years, somewhere tucked inside your head. A tune that's not forgotten, but a fond memory that plays in my head from time to time.Trippy.
Fantastic work! Steve Winwood is a natural musician born to be a performer! We have been privileged to be able to live at the same time as him! Keep on rockin Steve
Yep. Me and mates would hitchhike from pillar to post in our mid teens. Great days indeed. Being woken up by the police who had taken us for dead after falling asleep at roadside from exhaustion and lack of rides. Redding festival. Knebworth.etc😀😀😀
Its 1967 as a 17 year old boy I am greeted by friends on a most beautiful day, the world seems to revolve around us. There's a clear contrast between a monochrome, uninspired generation, wedlocked to antiquity and a burgeoning culture, a fellowship linked by visions of a new Avalon. Into this brave new world, we are welcomed and loved, it becomes our home. Jesters, minstrels and oracles, flowing robes, beautiful women, we become transformed by the colored rain which illuminates the unity with nature. A new music is heard, music born of those oceanic experiences, it becomes the touchstone for the culture's fraternity of love. Tales of dangerous headmen, a giant albatross, a place where happiness reigns and music plays ever so loudly. Thoughts were sublimed by the spirit of music which was created by people like us, for people like us. Being young is always a wonderful thing but to have been young in the 1960's was truly special. During Traffic's induction into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Stevie Winwood said, "Thanks for recognizing the spirit". Indeed, Maestro Winwood, yes indeed!
Traffic were a sensational band. I was hooked from the first album, Dear Mr. Fantasy. Sad that Steve's two other founding members are no longer with us. R.I.P. Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood.
So why do you have to bring it u? Everyone that needs to know this already knows. So do you think your the only one that knows this? Or like your some kind of know it all?
Ive never seen this Later With Jools Holland appearance. I'm a big fan of Paul Weller, but it was actually a clip of Freedom Rider on The Tube way back in the 80s hosted By Jools Holland, before Weller went solo, that first got me interested in Traffic. Steve Winwood is a legend. So pleased that it transpired Weller was also a fan.
I felt like I was back in the late 60s listening to the Radio 📻! So Classic Rock 🪨 from Steve Winwood! Amazing 😀 I wish people that post some of these videos would include more information. Like air date, band members, etc.
Great performance of this Traffic classic from their 1968 album, which was simply titled Traffic. It sounded fantastic then & it still holds up today. Winwood' s voice is still excellent. Does anyone know was playing the flute in this lineup?
More talent on the stage now than the whole music industry in 2022

There is talent still, it just gets buried.
You got that right
Great performance of 40,000 Headmen. Long live Traffic. Thank you Steve, Jim and Chris.
Amazing song even after so many years
I've never ever gotten tired of Traffic, Winwood...they're magical.

I know it's almost impossible to choose but this is my favorite Traffic song.

And ugly and not so beautiful women? Steve Winwood is a sort of born again Christian nowadays, so the influence of Atlantis was only short-lived.
@@herbertdarick7693 I wasn't referring to physical beauty and I was referencing the past, not the present.
Best band ever, Steve capaldi lyrics Chris wood amazing flute mood kept here, blessings..
One of the most soulful singers, ever.

I saw Traffic in Frankfurt Germany in 1971 when I was in the service (Army). That was 50 years ago.
Traffic were a sensational band. I was hooked from the first album, Dear Mr. Fantasy.
Sad that Steve's two other founding members are no longer with us.

Yes, indeed. RIP to Chris and Jim. Thanks for the wonderful music, guys.❣

Such an incredible song. Such immaculate timing.
How many tunes like this these days? None.
Whoa, that was wonderful!! The studio version has been in heavy rotation lately, so hearing this was a real treat.
Traffic at Winterland was undoubtedly one of the very best concerts I've been to. 1971 if I remember correctly.
Sublime
Brilliant, the original version, I also like the BS&T version, great Mr W.
Haunting voice classic
legendary
Timeless
Just fantastic!
Who else but them?
When 🎶 was made

Really good song
Um dos gênios tocadores de Hammond C3
Hugely underrated band. Consistently brilliant in all their guises. Still listening to their music regularly.
underrated by who?
@@Thomas-uo4jy By too many.
@@geoffreycarter2686 Only UNNOTICED by people Unaware of Traffic- NOT UNDERRATED by those who know this band!!!💥💫

This is a great live version by a revamped lineup of Traffic.
the fantastic bourbon voice of stevie winwood.
9,000 views, 228 thumbs up, and no thumbs down. Maybe there is hope for humanity.
Dear Dave, I want to share your hope. This holy music will save us all!
Winwood is a tremendous chanter
EVERYBODY wanted to sing like Steve Winwood. What a set of Pipes!!!!🎵🎶🎵
Great tune. Didn't need 2 keyboard players, but oh well. This is an under celebrated classic. Phish should cover this.
that's the stuff all right.........

Capaldi lyrics; Winwood music. Just look behind.
Jammie ....
Love this. First time I've seen this clip. Have you got the other 2 tracks they performed on this show? (Here Comes A Man + Some KInda Woman)

And where did all the good music go??? It's just not the same. This was all on "The Edge" .... time and space...once again...
This is the Stouff alright.
?
So, who got the gold? I think he had to run and they got it back. It was laying there before the iron gate.
And did they catch him? Or did he outrun them, as he ran across the whole of Brittania?
What year was this on Jools's Later?
It was aired on BBC 2 may 14th 1994. By that time Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi had issued an album under the name of Traffic, Far From Home
obviously the cave.
