Dodgers have one of the best pitching development in baseball. They fill up their stadium with fans almost every game in the stadium. Japan now follows the Dodgers strongly because of their two Japanese super stars. The Dodgers makes the most sense for Roki.
Dodgers because: 1. Best organization in MLB 2. Ohtani and Yamamoto 3. 6 man rotation guaranteed 4. Endorsement opportunities in major market on Pacific Rim 5. Family oriented club culture 6. Proven analytics driven strategy 7. New $100M state of the art clubhouse and player facilities 8. Large Japanese community in South Bay 9. Most popular MLB team in Japan by far and shortest flight home 10. Summer Olympics in LA in 3 years
Ohtani, Darvish, and Kikuchi all have mentioned that they prefer warmer climates for their performance, conditioning, and training. They all grew up or have played baseball in cold snowy regions in Japan. And Sasaki grew up in the same prefecture as Kikuchi and Ohtani. Sasaki was training in his hometown in Ofunato before flying to LA. I would imagine the stark difference in climate is more powerful than any presentation.
11) top five minor league system 12) 5 hall of famers to learn from. Kers, mookie, Freddie, Ohtani and the underdog Dave Robert’s. Reasons to Dodgers; 1) Dodgers have 2 Japanese players that he is friends with signed throughout the entirety of his 6 year rookie deal (and then some) while Darvish is a short timer. 2) L.A. is closer to Japan than non-West Coast teams and has a strong Japanese community. 3) L.A. has a proven track record of getting the best out of pitchers and even rehabilitating a pitcher that lost their touch so guys come to the Dodgers specifically for this value-added bonus. 4) The Dodgers have enough guys so that Sasaki won't be over-relied on. Avoiding TJ surgery or repeated surgeries from over-use in order to still get a good contract after his 6 year rookie deal is a biggie. 5) Guaranteed playoffs every year with a good chance at World Series championships. That means more playoff bonuses and endorsement value as well as being a part of history. The benefits of the better team and pitching coaches and 6-man+ rotation would outweigh being one of three Japanese stars rather than being the only one on a team that doesn't make the playoffs. I am sure many of the advertisers will want to do ads that feature all 3 players so that could end up helping Sasaki. I don't think any other team makes more sense but Sasaki will do whatever he wants.
Dodgers farm was ranked 2 on some scouting reports. For the end of 24. They have 4 top 100 and a bunch of real young guys that had good season at lower ranks. They trade older farm guys they can’t play like Busch and almonte for two guys that are now really good.
Apparently he isnt coming back to the states until the 20th. Seems like if he wanted to pick someone other than the Dodgers or Angeles he would go visit their city first. The 20th is probably too late to do all that
Ohtani would've been a Dodger from DAY ONE except for one issue.....when he came up to the US, there was NO DH rule in the National League (as I recall......).....so he would've had to not only pitch, but also then play the outfield too if he wanted to hit everyday.
As a Dodger fan, I know I'll def be all "whew!!!! there wasn't a sour surprise!!!!" if/when Sasaki officially signs with Dodgers. Seriously, sour surprises do happen, and I'm not taking things for granted.
I think its an underrated aspect into his decision making, but with all that is going on in LA rn, there is a chance he doesn't sign with them due to his traumatic upbringing. Maybe, maybe not, but that will definitely be something he thinks about.
Dan are you trying to make it obvious that you’re still a giants fan after my last comment? 😂 just cave in bro come to the best company in the business like Sasaki will 😂
@ all joking aside just want to say I’m a big fan of your show. I love your unbiased reporting, your not just another guy cheerleading for his favorite team. True professional.
Sasaki's posting timing and Ohtani's Dodgers contract are most likely unrelated. Or rather, Sasaki doesn't make decisions based on other players. His agent Joel Wolfe said in December 2024 that he has known Sasaki for two years, which would imply Wolfe was first referred to by Darvish in late 2022 or early 2023 around the WBC national team practice and tournament. Sasaki was always interested in MLB since high school but the Spring 2023 WBC tournament made it more real. He basically got bored in Japan after a perfect game in 2022 seasos and WBC in 2023. Japanese contracts are single season for young players, so Sasaki negotiated the timing of his posting to be this winter after the 2023 season, which just happened to be Ohtani's Dodgerss contract. It's really about maintaining motivation as an athlete than money. It's certainly not about Ohtani nor Darvish. Yet, I still believe Dodgers is one of the few teams that offer the support and development that Sasaki needs to succeed in MLB.
@@jayk.2608Ohtani also posted when he was 23 year olds. He sent out questionnaires to all teams interested and met with 7 teams at the time. But Ohtani's timing for free agency and Sasaki's age is coincidence. If Sasaki were to join the Dodgers, he will do so with or without Ohtani. There are many pros and cons of already having two Japanese pitchers on the team.
@@mv7_oficialDodgers are still in as they traded Cartaya to Twins to make room on a 40 man roster to bring in Roki Sasaki and Tanner Scott. Go Dodgers!
I highly doubt Sasaki will sign with the Dodgers now due to the fires. He lost both his father and grandfather in the earthquake/tsunami and these fires will give him PSTD.
