Among all videos about Voidfall out there this one is the most informative with the best delivery! Thank you for making it and posting it. Trying to learn the game right now. This is a great help when taking the first steps!!
I'm new to boardgaming and your channel is by far my favorite. Your editing really helps highlight things for a new player. You have gone over a lot of games i just bought to start.
Thanks Mike. My advice is to enjoy the journey and don’t get too many too fast. Enjoy what you have and explore them in depth. It is easy to fall into traps of always needing the hotness. There are soooo many wonderful Boardgames but so little time :) or do what I did and get everything that looks interesting and not have enough time to play them. ;)
Thank you for talking about how tricky it was to learn it for the first time. I was feeling stupid because I had a hard time and everyone was just saying it was intuitive blahblah. I learned the game and was able to teach my husband and we've played it twice in one day to cement the rules. We love the game it was just a nightmare to learn for the first time!
The more I play the faster it goes, slowly the AP is receding. I think it might be a rough one to only intend to play once with someone as the game really starts to reveal its self over a few plays. Really that language has to become second nature! Thanks for watching.
Great video as always. I have tried to talk myself out of this game. I have heard nothing but praise for it, now hearing the high praise for the solo moves it even higher on my list. The rule overhead has been a major concern and one of the major reasons I haven't ordered it. I would essentially be buying this for pure solo, as my current game group I don't think would want to invest the time to really learn it. How does this compare to learning TMB? I was scared away from TMB for quite some time because of the complexity. Comparing this to Spirit Island also makes me happy as its one of my all time favorites along with TMB. Your comment of "play a card take two actions" reminded me of what Lacerda says about Lisboa "its easy, play a card take an action" 🤣
Thanks Frodo, I think the rules once learned are significantly more intuitive than TMB. I find my self having less highs and lows as compared due to dice not being a factor. From a solo perspective it’s a much more chill puzzle. TMB you are very much essentially running an automa with the baddies and their skills not to mention the battle mat specific rules. I am really enjoying having it set up and just playing one cycle at a time. From a competitive perspective I think having a human that knows the game I think will really reduce the amount of time needed to learn. Like lacerda said, play a card choose two actions. :)
I spent about 10 hours total this weekend just getting this thing to a point where we can play a real game lol. Played the tutorial with 2 players. At first I was questioning my life choices but now I'm thinking this game is going to be an absolute masterpiece and worth the hurdles. Great review!
You hit it right on the head. I certainly had those moments of doubt on my third time through this rule book. Appreciate you watching and glad you made it through the grind ti get to the point of enjoyment.
Great job explaining what it's all about. I'm glad I didn't dive into this one, I've already got too many life consuming games on my shelf waiting to get played, and I don't know if my head can contain another gigantic ruleset.
Set up gets a bit better over time. At least with the organization in the galactic box, can’t speak for retail. That is one of the reasons I am leaning towards this as mainly a solo game that can stay set up. Also the maps on a multiplayer game get pretty big with slot of sectors to configure.
@@Neon_Gorillayeah, for me the setup still takes a while even though I'm better with it. The Galactic Box is amazing but I need to get the stickers that someone made on BGG to print for the faction stack to make things easier.
@@successfulgeek funny you should mention. I hate the faction stacks. I do not want to sort through those each time for the technologies. I was thinking about 3d printing something to put stuff in dividers with labels.
I just unshrinked and punched my pledge (and yeah, it took about 2 hours…). I wasn’t sure I would actually unpack it, but I heard too many good things. So I’m on my learning journey at the moment.
Interaction on a scale of 1-10 is about a 4. You spend early game “battling” the voidborn and not until you make it over to the other player do actually start batting them. Might be a pass for you if that is your main desire.
@@Neon_Gorilla Happens to the best of us. I'd just hate folks with small attention spans to just skip the video entirely due to them not being present. Especially the part towards the end that breaks down what videos to watch so eloquently.
It’s wonderful. The biggest drawback is it can be very AP inducing and that can lead to very long games. The best part is there is not a huge difference between modes so all my points that I mentioned other than the specific reference to solo are relevant for both. Thanks for watching!
Solo is great (all I play) but the AP is intense, really intense. I literally sit there just staring at my hand and the board trying to determine the optimal/efficient play lol
I think you have a fair point as I should have mentioned price. Looking at price now is basically all scalping though as it’s sold out and the galactic pledge you are seeing was never a retail product. I spent $343 on my pledge. The $450 you see is marked up. I will say if/when it comes back to retail it looks to be at around $100. Gamenerdz had it for $96. Thanks for watching.
Yeah I don’t like 100% deterministic combat, it makes a game a bit flat and anticlimactic. I think Spirit Island could have benefitted from a roll of the dice too, as long as you can mitigate it. Nice overview though!
Thanks for the shout out!
No, thank you for the incredible videos. They were a huge help!

really appreciate the feedback, it is quite the beast to learn happy I helped in some way!
Thank you for this video. The quality and content are through the roof. You deserve many more subscriptions. You’ve earned mine!
Thanks Ronald. I really appreciate the kind words. Welcome!
What an amazing video and a great overview of the game, thanks very much!
Thanks for watching and making awesome games. Septima is next on my list.
My guy!!! I was stressing over learning this game. Thanks for laying it out so well. Insta-subscribe!
Thanks for the kind words!!! Good luck.
Great vid and editing, content as well
appreciate the kind words. I recently did a similar dive into Septima in case you are a mind clash games fan.
Recently found your channel, loving all the reviews, keep up the great job!

Wise words right here. I say as I watch the video trying to talk myself out of buying Voidfall, which I know I won't have enough time to play :p

Yeah the initial learn was sort of awful. Intuitive only after you know what all of the steps actually mean lol
Great vid. Thank you.
Thanks Gustav, appreciate the comment!
Thank you for the video
Your welcome
You are learning a language! We all said the same thing. Got a new player up in running in 40 minutes. We played a 2 player game in about 3 hours.

Thank you!
Voidfall is so freaking amaIng but the setup is soooo massive and time consuming... Its gorgeous though, the production is incredible.

@@johnathanrhoades7751 good luck, you have a ton of fun ahead!
This is my favorite game "system" to play against. It is so, so, good. At this point I think I am at a 60% win rate on hard (47 solo plays).
Dude, that is an incredible win % and more impressive is the number of plays! Do you leave it up at all times?
@@Neon_Gorilla I wish I could leave it up all the time! I was heavily involved with testing and balancing the different houses.
@@TheDarktater ah got it. You have had a bunch of time with it. Glad you still like it after so many plays!
chapter marks in your video would be great
good call
Just love this game…
I have fallen more in love even after recording this review.
Couldn’t care less about solo play or multiplayer solitaire. Only want 2 player with interaction. Is this even worth considering?

The most daunting game ever made!!!
You are not wrong ;)
Let me introduce you to Adcanced Squad Leader or High Frontier 4 All…. But yeah. It stayed in shrink for a year for me.
Awesome content. Subtle but very well done edits. Really really need timestamps though :(
Appreciate that. You are right on time stamps. I never seem to have the time :)
