"You're not a worrier. You have a habit of worrying... You're not a procrastinator. You have a habit of procrastinating." Blew my mind. Makes total sense. This video spoke to me 110% THANK YOU, LEWIS. Love your videos.
She actually doesn't say anything special, she just changes how to say it a bit. I get it helps her to get her point across to make people change their perspective but if you already have that perspective it kinda looks stupid. But can't blame her lots of MS do it.
Since seeing Mel first on another Impact Theory and then here, I've been 5-4-3-2-1-ing like crazy and it's radically changing my life. I've gotten more done on my 'procrastination list' in the past ~6 weeks than in the past year - honestly. I'm making phone calls I dreaded. Mel Robbins is brilliant. Thank you Lewis.
I can not express how much I love Mel. She has helped me more than any other speaker, motivational guru, or life coach. I seek out her stuff ALL the time. I love her! She doesn't even know I exist, and that is OK, I thank the Lord for her and HE knows that I know she exists and that she helps me and many many other people. There is a special place in Heaven for her and her sweet spouse. She is an example of someone who has walked the walk.I have a ton of respect for her!
Wow! I'm already 57 years old and the same number of years of procrastinating. But it's not too late to be the best of what I am. In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, I'll be go! go! go! Thanks a million Mel and Lewis.
Mel Robbins is such a relate-able human being. She makes me understand why there are so many obstacles I have yet to overcome and now I will work at this everyday! Thank you Mrs. Robbins for helping me to understand that you have to put the work in and earn your life. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Lewis for having such a great talk here!
"You think that you need to feel confident or courageous in order to get started. You don't. You actually just have to start, and that's the riddle of life." #goldennugget :)
I have followed Tony Robbins for years and that's how I came across Lewis's podcasts. This podcast came up after a Tony Robbins podcast I was listening to. I had never heard of Mel Robbins so I was just halfway listening to the podcast as I was working. I went back and replayed this podcast and sat down and listened to it! This lady is amazing! I live off-grid and own an organic farm and plant nursery in Tennessee. I don't own a tv or cellphone. I used to listen to Rich Roll's podcasts while working in my greenhouses. I've now added Lewis Howe's podcasts to my playlist! It takes a lot to get me to sit down and watch anything but I plan to watch all of Lewis's podcasts! He is one of the best interviewers I've seen!
"MEL ROBBINS" ~ "IS JUST SIMPLY AMAZING" .. She is all herself, completely natural, honest to the core and EXCITING beyond anything I've seen or heard .. We can't get enough of her wisdom and talent .. She's also a ton of "FUN"
Video was amazing....but just wanted to say how wonderful for you and your husband for evolving and growing and changing together instead of giving up on one another and going your separate ways. It takes a lot of guts to choose each other instead of yourselves!!!
8:48 "One of the most important things that I want people to understand is that you're actually not a worrier, you have a habit of worrying." That's when I started paying attention.
I went through postpartum and peri-menopause concurrently and it was horrific . . . I never took any meds, I hiked and joined a Parenting the Infant Class . . . nature and a support group of other new moms saved my life. My baby is now 21 so that memory is far behind me . . . I wish I'd known what Mel talks about and what I've learned from Landmark, Tony Robbins, and now Brooke Castillo and Mel, you and others: Thoughts = feelings/emotions = actions . . . control your thoughts, control your emotions, control your actions. Thanks for this interview Lewis!
24:28 "You think that you need to feel confident or courageous in order to get started. You don't. You actually just have to start, and that's the riddle of life."
She is one of the people who gave me total clarity that why do we screw ourselves over and over again! And most importantly how to stop doing that! Thank u mel and thank u Lewis for inviting her!!
Lewis, I've been listening to your podcasts almost from the very beginning. I think this is my favorite thus far. She's an amazing communicator. Thanks for introducing her to me. I'm starting when my alarm goes off tomorrow. And a bonus! I learned about your brother! Blessings to you, Lewis.
60 minutes ago I'd never heard of Mel Robbins. I am grateful to you, the universe, TH-cam whoever, I am just grateful that she came up on my feed, she's amazing. I was drawn in by her story and inspired by her vision. Thank you Lewis
I love Lewis's acknowledgement of Mel's hard work & inspirational attitude. It takes courage to acknowledge greatness, what a lovely guy. An thank you Mel for improving my mindset, just a little bit more. Truly loved this. Xxx
I'm sharing this with my real estate team. Best Mel Robbins interview in my opinion. Met Lewis Howes in Austin two years ago and after you spoke - it was obvious you where tired and a with a cold but you personally greeted every single person who stood in line to meet you - very genuine and authentic person Aloha from Hawaii!

"Thinking patterns that are self sabotaging" What a real statement...!!! "Anxiety is nothing more then the habit of worrying spiraling out of control" "Because everythings working right now" I love her candor...God Bless
Absolutely love the people your bring onto your show. This is amazing stuff that must be taught in every school and job. I love watching your shows and others like you because I want to spend my 20s developing myself and finding myself so I have more time relaxing and enjoying the rest of my life. I am currently 22 and I feel that I am almost at the edge of discovering exactly who I am. And I thank you, Lewis Howes, and other amazing individuals like you :) Wishing you infinite peace, love, and success!
I have a severe anxiety disorder and even with medication, I sometimes struggle to keep it under control. When life gets too busy, when chaos reigns, when my plate is overflowing, I need real, practical advice to press through those moments when I feel frozen. Mel's advice has real life applications for all sorts of situations. She simplifies what I've learned through life experiences, therapy and education into a practical achievable plan. God bless you, Mel!
"...to interrupt all the garbage that can trigger you to behave un a way that is inconsistent with your values..." that spoke volume to me ..thank u both Lewis and Mel for this awesime podcast ...imm ahve to countdown for myself to go to study now and change my life .
I was crying through the entire video she was describing my self in every way and giving me the answer I was praying for. Thank you for bringing this to my morning.
I use the countdown to remove my anger. I used to have such an anger issue, but I count down, and tell my brain that I'm physically ok, I'm not hurt, its the other person who has an issue. I tell myself that it's ok to be upset, just react in a way that pushes yourself back into work
Astonishing value here. I am no longer (some things that wd bore ppl) after this, now stepping into my own greatness. Immense gratitude. I will do the right thing and buy the book.
It’s December 2024 and this continues to change lives! I discovered you and Mel in 2018 and still can’t help but think, what if I’d known this sooner. 🙏🏼
Lewis! This is an amazing interview. I stumbled upon this interview by "accident", and it was exactly what I needed to hear TODAY! Also, it was an aha moment for me when you talked about how you never filled up the 3rd cup! I have been doing the same thing between cup 1 and cup 2 and just never felt like it/I was ever enough! Thank you for being that kind of vulnerable! It made me realize that is what the missing ingredient is! Anyway, I can't thank you and Mel enough for this interview.
I can not tell you how much I appreciate this video...I thought it would be too long and repetitive, having watched many Mel videos, but time code index is SO GREAT, THANK YOU.
Absolutely LOVE Mel Robbins. This is some of the best advice I have ever taken in. So happy to have found you wonderful influencers. Keep it up! And THANK YOU!
I saw Mel at the ASSE conference in Denver last month. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Very inspiring! And, Lewis, this was the first time I see or hear your podcasts. You are THE MAN!!! Loved it!
Fabulous! Perhaps the most helpful, inspiring and changing video and its content for my life. By the way its the first time I make a comment ... using the 5 second rule . Thank you!
I really don't know how I ended up here to this video. But I do know last night what I secretly prayed about came up in this video as a solution to try. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I only discovered your channel a few months ago, but it's a real pleasure to be able to go back through your library and find gems like this one. Thanks for all the work you've done!
One is the best conversations I've listened to all time! Thank you Lewis. I share the same passion & calling to help others discover what makes them so wonderful
Just did a video on this book! Just want to say thank you Lewis for this interview, and thank you Mel because this book gives us an incredible tool that may help each of us take our lives to the next level!
wow.. I feel like she is talking about my life right now when I feel so lost and that everything that I thought would be is not at all like that now and not wanting to get up out of bed because I am too worried about everything and I don´t feel like I have a purpose. Every time that I feel like things are going to work out, something pulls my feet from underneath me. But last night a made a decision, a chose. I decided to ask myself if this is what I want my life to be like in the future, to lay around and worry or if I was going to do something about it. I decided to do something about it and started the day with a 3k walk and then I went online to look for motivational speakers and found Mel Robbins on TH-cam and in the process I found this interview which I am so grateful for. Thank you Lewis.
Lewis, Great interview with Mel Robbins. As someone who run a business and is trying "to get out there", who speaks to people all day, this makes sense!! Thank you! You have great shows!!
You don't know how badly I needed to hear 5-4-3-2-1 ! I appreciate all your guests, Lewis. I really like how you individualize your guests, especially with the last two questions you always ask. Well done.
That's so crazy, 6 months ago I had some health issues which caused panic attacks for the first time in my life. I had to go on Ativan and later Zoloft too. I'm happy she shared that because it feels taboo to talk about. Especially, at 32. I'm definitely going to check out her book.
Missa McFadden Mel said in another one of her talks that if she had diabetes, she'd have to monitor the way her body metabolizes sugar. She said with panic attacks, it's like diabetes, it's just how her body responds to stress. Which is so true. Nothing to be self-conscious about. I now tell people I suffered from them because maybe my sharing may help someone else too. xo
Hang in there. I went through something similar when I was around your age. I had a great job that I loved so much but it was inevitable I was going to lose it. I had panic attacks and they were terrible. I was on some medication and actually had a lot of unnecessary medical tests. Sometimes we face real life problems and stresses for the first time and this is what happens. Try to power through whatever problems you were having and have some positives in your life and the panic attacks will hopefully go away and the fear will become a distant memory.. And also learn to not get stressed out. Just deal with stuff as it comes and don't dwell on it.
Thank you so much .You radiate goodness!I love that you shared all of your struggles too! That in itself was helpful.(YOU ARE SO REAL)I am a new fan!!!!
Lewis, another great hour of inspiration. You and your guests are changing my life. Thank you for the time and effort that you and your team put into all that you do. Mel -- just WOW. Can't wait to read your book!
Rio Slaven Don't read the book just just take action and live the life you want. All you need is the five second rule. 5...4...3...2...1...take action.
She really sends tingles up my spine when she talks about the motivation gap and how you can keep going even when you don't feel like it. It's about understanding that and making it a habit, to just do it anyway. Move forward, even when you don't feel like it. It's just incredible.
I love her! I've been counting backward for 10mins lol! Jk but I agree 100% that during most mornings I have that Golden minute that I never build on. This will change God willing!
By the way, there's ONE simple trick you can do to get out of bed immediately without all the delay justifications... Put your alarm clock outside of the bedroom. That's it. Why making it complicated... You can't stand that noise, you will have to get up. I had the same issue with snoozing for years and since I have the clock outside of the bedroom for about two years now, I get up in ONE second literally saying every time "oh yes, let's do this". And you already have an immediate, no procrastination start for the day, which you will feel throughout the day.... try it out, free tip from me :-)
Andreas Roos Ha - I moved the alarm clock across the bedroom 23 years ago. Getting up at 5:15 a.m. this still works to move me into mental action also.
I agree that it helps a lot. I still have to put a lot of effort into not going to sleep again :D so I also need to add brushing my teeth immediately. After that, I am awake
I got shivers multiple times on this episode, especially right at the end. “Hear and speak your truth, regardless of how your voice will tremble”. Anyway, Lewis I’ve been absorbing your content and books for some time now, and have now started a podcast, with the long term goal of having the impact on people that you now have, and will continue to have. I love how you connect with people and how they respond to you and really bring out peoples truths. Thanks for being a mentor and inspiration.
5 Second Rule = 5 Second Window between the instincts, the shoulds, the urges, the inner wisdom, things that can change your life if you listen to it. You got a 5-second window from the moment you feel the instinct, Its a move and if you don't, your brain is designed to actually kill it - 30:33
I have never heard of Lewis Howes and only recently found Mel and the 5 second rule. A couple months ago maybe I heard her for the first time. I tried the 5 second rule back then once and found it intriguing. I thought I would buy her book but I procrastinated because I have a "habit of procrastination." I have a faith in God that has delivered me from a some very destructive habits. I have desired to do a few things for the past 9 months and still to this day have failed to execute those desires. WHY, has been the question in my mind as each day I don't exercise, each day I don't make those phone calls or visits. It is on the list of things to do today to get her book. I am excited to hear her of how this book can help me alter my life by choosing to use the 5 second rule to override my "feelings" of I want to but I don't "feel like it". I was in tears by the end of it to hear the expressions of appreciation and edification for each other. I feel like a failure but I have renewed hope in the possibilities of fulfilling my dreams for my life. To become the best person that I was born to be. Thank you Mel and Lewis! Much love to you both.
You are most welcome Lewis, I did subscribe to your channel today. I would hope one day I will have something to contribute to the world as you do. Thank you for all you do.
Maaaan this one made me smile sooo much and really warmed my heart. What an incredible life changing concept! I love it!! I have big goals and listened to so many seminars and interviews, coaching programs and yet when it's time to take action I still procrastinate at times. The countdown is so powerful and simple... What a great interview, you guys just warm my heart Lewis ♡ A big thank you
Interview is Very raw and real. 5 Seconds rule is assassin of Procrastination, Loved it!!! Cant wait to get her book and ingrained it. You nailed it Lewis thanks for sharing :)
Lewis!!! You have created such an amazing space for people to connect with you and your guests. It's a space where your guests can allow themselves to be vulnerable enough for all of us to learn from them. Something that is just as powerful, is that it's a space in which your listeners feel comfortable enough to open themselves up to change. Thank you for what you do, and creating a space where we can all come together to be the best we can in this life!
Lewis, wow man, this interview of Mel Robbins (who I didn't know about until now) spoke so clearly and articulated her 5 second rule very well. I learn so much from all your podcasts, you choose all the right people and ask the right questions. You do great work!
So, it's not just science...It is a willingness to connect with your inner spirit, your inner guidance, the holy spirit of God your creator who is always there and ready to assist you and lead you in life. When you tap into this energy your life becomes meaningful purposeful.
This is incredible. I have practiced the 5 second rule without the count down, and never even knew it. I will use this principle everyday!!! Thank you Mell!!
Inspirational... Just inspirational. I'm on my third listen through this interview as I write this. Isn't it ironic that people who have *really* suffered end up so inspired? I couldn't believe this woman was on anti-depressants for twenty years.
I was intending to work in myself through a course I am doing today. But this popped on my screen. Couldn't turn it off. An amazing hour of my time well spent. Thankyou.
"You're not a worrier. You have a habit of worrying... You're not a procrastinator. You have a habit of procrastinating." Blew my mind. Makes total sense. This video spoke to me 110%
THANK YOU, LEWIS. Love your videos.
In my mind its the same thing your just changing the name of it. A worrier has a habit of worrying. So same thing just different cover.

Yes but that does not change the fact that if you worry alot that you are a worrier. Cause if not then the word worrier has no meaning.
But it kinda is cause she used it.

Oh man... the answer to the final question gave me goosebumps. Awesome discussion!! Thank you!
Lewis,
Great interview with Mel Robbins. As someone who run a business and is trying "to get out there", who speaks to people all day, this makes sense!! Thank you! You have great shows!!
This is pretty much chapter 1-4 of the book, if you buy the book after listing this interview start at chapter 5
Bought it! :)
This has been the BEST book ever!!!!!!
Thank you so much .You radiate goodness!I love that you shared all of your struggles too! That in itself was helpful.(YOU ARE SO REAL)I am a new fan!!!!
I watch this video almost every day! Is a valuable reminder! Thank U so much Lewis!
This episode by far is the most powerful episode since I started to listen the show.
This is hands down the best podcast you've done ... this rule is an absolute game changer. Just ordered this book looking forward to receiving it.
WOW!Thank you.I am not a worrier ,i have the habit of worrying.Thank you for this.
Definitely a game changer. Thanks for sharing Lewis.
Enraptured by this interview.. thank you for connecting and bringing Mel on, Lewis!
One of the most fantastic conversations Lewis has had on his show!!!
I need the 5 second rule to start saying the 5 second rule...that’s the level of my procrastinating habit
Yep. Same
Saaaaame
I got shivers multiple times on this episode, especially right at the end. “Hear and speak your truth, regardless of how your voice will tremble”. Anyway, Lewis I’ve been absorbing your content and books for some time now, and have now started a podcast, with the long term goal of having the impact on people that you now have, and will continue to have. I love how you connect with people and how they respond to you and really bring out peoples truths. Thanks for being a mentor and inspiration.
Can't wait to read your new book and share it with my husband. Thanks for doing this podcast. Your incredible!
5 Second Rule = 5 Second Window between the instincts, the shoulds, the urges, the inner wisdom, things that can change your life if you listen to it. You got a 5-second window from the moment you feel the instinct, Its a move and if you don't, your brain is designed to actually kill it - 30:33
self doubt and anxiety is my worst enemy. time to get inspired. thank you lewis and mel.
I love this woman's logic.
khadija sofi yeah
What a great interview, you guys just warm my heart Lewis ♡ A big thank you
Perfectly said 😊👍🏼🙏🏽🥰
Awesome interview. What I find the most impressive about her is the way she talks about her husband. So beautiful and inspiring.
Amazing Lewis, just amazing.. i sincerely commend you for your generosity with all this content you provide!
Thank you both for being so open. It helps heal me.
Great Pod cast and shows, Lewis from Tony Robbins to Mel Robbins, really talking to us all in a real #inspired way!
I couldn't believe this woman was on anti-depressants for twenty years.
agreed! helped me get out of my head! finally!
I was intending to work in myself through a course I am doing today. But this popped on my screen. Couldn't turn it off. An amazing hour of my time well spent. Thankyou.
I love absolutely everything about this. Thank you so much to both of you, I can see how this is and will continue to change lives. Thank you ❤❤
