    What was your favorite part of the interview?

    • @HySpeedGames
      @HySpeedGames 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      My favorite part was the connecting reactions to childhood experiences (trauma).
      My least favorite was the censor bleeps - they are very loud. Perhaps just mute the audio, not insert a disruptive sound.

      Explaining how trauma is not just from conflicts of war. The way she explained That AA’s have live in unrealized trauma.

    • @casuarinagirl8067
      @casuarinagirl8067 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That trauma establishes itself in your nervous system and is unconscious and it can be as simple as low level negative family patterns, like tension and fights at dinner time - my husband loses his mind when interrupted and feels like he is unheard, now I will pause a little and try to understand his reaction now, without logic but with more understanding. Also witnessing myself a lot at the moment and this has added another layer to watch myself through. Love both of you, so this was wonderful...x

      5 second rule changed my life! I no longer procrastinate for days on end now its only minutes at a time. I still do it but just not as long. Mel has taught me that my anxiety is my superpower & I no longer let it ruin or run my life. This woman is a powerhouse & I'm so grateful to have her as a teacher 🙏🏻❤

    Hey, Lewis. You're great and I love all your content. I just want to let you know that interrupting someone with ADHD (as Mel has said she has) is really frustrating for us because it takes us a while to access our thoughts amidst the chaos, and being interrupted puts us back to square one. What Mel said in the interview about exploding when interrupted is a very normal thing for us and it's something everyone I know with ADHD is constantly battling against (we don't mean to explode!). When asking someone with ADHD a question, give them a few minutes before interjecting again. It may seem that we haven't grasped the original question but we most likely have and are just trying to articulate all of the thoughts racing around our heads :)

    Great to hear Mel Robbins talking about being a ‘bulldozer’, I have often struggled to hear her messages as her teaching style always made me feel bulldozed. To hear her talking in this way, sharing more of herself and being so open about how she is still in ‘lacking mentality’ as well as about her trauma has opened my heart to her. Thank you, Lewis, for having such a show and being open to share of yourself too. Love and Peace to you both 🌹

    In this one interview Mel just made me realise that things I remember from my childhood can be called trauma and are significant to how I act and think about myself. I always thought that it was something wrong with me for feeling certain way and kept blaming myself but now I see there is a deeper reason. Thank you both for your conversation❤️

    This is the most refreshing, honest conversation I have heard in such a long time. I love you two together. I resonated with Mel soooo much. I absolutely love her. I’ve been listening to her for years. As I grow up and I develop and as I become more of who I want to be. Her teaching no has hit better and better with time and with progression.

    Thank you Lewis and Mel, this episode starts from 7:58 from the rock bottom hit you, it will bounce. When the whole will went upside down you always can make it right, when 1 chapter-end you always have the power to write a new one. When your friends leave you, you have yourself to love you and support yourself,. I been through this rock bottom and I realized the most powerful things is myself. and I am so grateful for my parents who gave me this powerful body and brain. i am thank you for what i have been through the last 2 years, and i so lucky that youtube brought me to Lewis channel. i love your show, i love the great people that you had interview. I felt i am not alone, so long i am not going to give up. My new chapter of my life will start. I never meet these great people and you (Lewis), however, Elivia would like to say THANK YOU THANK YOU much love to everyone. Muack i learn a lot from your yourtube.

    I couldn't finish listening to this, to be honest. She definitely has that day time talk show energy in which there is a touch of narcissism under the guise of being helpful; privileged but with a side-elbow of "look, I'm still relatable". This is good material as a starter pack into self-development for people who have never delved into that before, but there is so much more. Like people who think they understand law of attraction after watching the secret.

  • @TheNinnyfee

    What I just thought when I heard you talking about abuse and people-pleasing: experiences in life, especially heavy unexpected ones, often shape your perception of yourself, your perception of worth, etc.
    But I just feel that we have tremendous power to give the opinion that was thrust upon us back and choose another every day.
    Abusers e.g. only abuse out of some kind of negativity/inadequacy/self-hatred, whatever it is. It says all about them, nothing about their victims. It is their decision.
    So in the long run, despite the actual traceable trauma, we can choose whether we accept their self-perception as an opinion of ourselves. And thus whether we multiply negativity or don't.

This smacked me right in the face today. I need to take the next step.

    I am grateful for having given myself the time to listen to this today! Or should I say night cause I’m in Spain visiting my parents and grandma. Wow! It’s funny how the law of attraction works. As I was mixing some Bach flowers and getting a self reiki session to worki on some self doubts As I’m trying to believe in myself to finish flight school..... I saw a notification and I felt drawn to it!
    what I liked best of this interview? Let’s just say i noticed it was on repeat and I watched it all over again. 🤩so the whole interview was a gem to me.
    I read about 46 books a year on self help or power of the mind since 1998 because I’m a bookworm. Thank you both for sharing this! Gracias! Gracias! Gracias!

    It's interesting how Mel talks about personal agency & self-created boundaries and undoing past stories, but spends the end of the interview talking about groups of people allowing others to dictate ones actions/thoughts, overall fear, and maybe worries of rejection. Also not sure what public policy allows murder and what can be done differently. #notwhitehere

    I, unfortunately, did review the whole video of George being tortured, now it is burned in my heart and hard to let the vision go. My statement on my facebook page basically states with the viewing of the whole video, the killing was intentional, not once did George try to struggle, it was without a doubt the police officers intention was to use George as an example of whose ego is larger than another, for those who did the video and onlookers. The other police officers chanted to George, "who is the big man now" not sure if that is exact words anymore, I do not want to ever view that video again but just trust me the whole incident, the officer who did the choking must be tried for murder and the other police officers chanting egging on the officer doing the choking must be tried for manslaughter at a minimal. We need to set an example to the system NO ONE WILL TOLERATE THE KILLINGS ANYMORE! The officers need to be tried as examples for all of the police systems they cannot kill anyone, especially intentionally as George was. What is even more God awful, the officers did not even try to resuscitate George, they dragged his limp body towards the gurney disrespectfully. I normally do not comment on these kinds of events, but omg enough is enough, the last choking it was said there will be a change in police policy, it was just words...no more words there must be action, period.

      @Paul Newcomb Paul, I respect your comment, however before you make your assumption, view the video, George never made any struggle, none whatsoever from the beginning when the police first placed handcuffs on George and no struggle till his death. When you view the video the police officer doing the choking and the police officer's egging on the one doing the choking, the one doing the choking looked straight at the onlookers and the one taking the video with no concern over their cries to let George breath and George begging I can't breath. Now, when these police officers go to trial, they will need individuals such as yourself to provide any doubt on the jury. So you go ahead and keep your stand in your belief, without judgment. However, again, watch the video in its entirety. The only reason, only reason I even viewed the video was I wanted to see for myself if it was an accident. Without making an assumption towards your comment what is in your head or heart for the experience George endured, I did not want to believe anything lessor then it was an accident. It was not, how the officer looked at the onlookers.......it was my job as a mediator, I am trained (and it is my intuitive nature) I had to and still do read people for their truth what I say is how I believe it.

      For others and their views comments towards me personally, this will be my last response I will provide, this is "my" stand and the officer is going to be very lucky I would not be chosen for the jury. I am George's voice, just like Beloved abused animals I am their voice and I stand by this!

    I was called into a new boss’s office 1 day after 9 successful years & told
    I was being laid off due to “ financial reasons” He didn’t like me & I intensely didn’t like him.
    I believe to this day he was an anti semite because of many comments he had made to me
    before he knew I was Jewish but couldn’t prove it. Left me in a terrible financial situation
    & cannot get a reference from him for a new “job”. That was 2017. Am now 73.

    Lewis, you have great guest, so, let me ask you a question. Why do they and you talk about the negatives of your past, is it to sell the positive?
    Have you ever had a guest who talked about the positive and never about the negative?
    Woulda book sell itself, if, there were only good positive words in it?

    Mel, I want to start off by saying that I think you are an amazing woman. You are intelligent and kind hearted and determined. You have honestly helped me through many issues in my life. But I have to tell you that you need to stop talking about race. Black people are not the only people to grow up with trauma and bigotry. Black people are not the only people to grow up in extremely poor environments that caused trauma. I wish the world would stop talking about color. In my opinion, I feel that that is still creating racism in the world. We need to look at each other like humans and that is it. Color does not matter. All colors have had issues. I know several black families that have grown up better off and without trauma in comparison to several white families. Please keep doing what you’re doing but leave race/color out of it.
