Same here, forced to admit that Ableton provide some amazing tools today to do some techno, as far as I love logic and learned a lot on it, it's doesn't provide what I need for techno.
@@sebastianrussell yes I was thinking about that too, bounce all from ableton and mix into logic since i'm used to their stock plugins. Nice to hear that it fit well for you, definitely gonna look it up !
I agree that Roar is an amazing tool. I've been using it to do a lot of what you're showing. I really like the serial routing and fractal filter shaper and the Comb filter. I gotta try out changing the Feedback times. That was really cool in this video.
Roar is so cool and the way you use it is great. I gotta ask, though: do you type in values just to try values at least semi-randomly, or do you actually know what the response is going to be beforehand? I'm asking only to adjust my level of amazement at your knowledge and depression at mine accordingly.
I'm not an expert but there is quite a significant loudness difference which instantly makes it "sound" better, A/B without matched loudness can be deceiving. Roar is still amazing though.
amazing !!! what do you use mostly for your percussion ??? hardware wise ? I'm starting again from scratch and taking inspiration wherever I can get it :) thanks
Yan, what's your opinion on using only Ableton plugins for both the mixing and mastering phase? No 3rd party plugins at all. Can using only Ableton plugins be enough to polish a track for the dance floor?
First I was on my way to only buy slink filter for my ableton 11, but now I think, upgrading my ableton has more to offer( slink is almost in the roar plugin and then I have also drift), even if it costs more. the Feedback mode comes heavy. Thank you for showing.
Started using this too best distortion since the ohmforce ohmicide although I have also tried the isotope trash and the new wavetable shaper thing from kilohertz but i think roar just about has the edge but all those are awesome
Roar is excellent but alas i cant run 12 smoothy . A few of us are having clip freezing issues in 12 making all 11 project files unusable. 12 will be parked until that's fixed. I was feeling a bit blue then Kilohearts ShaperTable turned up last week. Its not the same as Roar but its a distortion powerhouse in a small package. Especially when you use it in the Multipass VST.
Boner material plugin. Yay for ableton.. i would give my right arm for a hardware version that could do even close. @Yan - ever come cross a hardware equivalent? I have the too boum.. sounds amazing but cant do nearly this much. Analog Heat + FX maybe closest but I suppose, as per usual you cant expect a hardware device to have the same feature scope as a plug eh
@@YanCook if ableton made some small FX device, similar to push but just for FX that has pots and buttons that could be hardware version of Roar and drum buss for example id say they would make a killing.
I’m switching from Logic Pro after 10 years to Ableton because of you, I’m so inspired by your work and have your music on repeat 🖤

I did the switch a year ago. Man, it opens so many doors. I still do the final mixes in logic tho.
@@sebastianrussell yes I was thinking about that too, bounce all from ableton and mix into logic since i'm used to their stock plugins. Nice to hear that it fit well for you, definitely gonna look it up !
yan, you've made me park my modular system and get sick with live again...😑. It's incredible how well you show everything, please keep doing it!
Really cool and what a groove!
Brilliant video. I didn't even realise it had a modulation section. Ableton plugins have so many features in their compact ui
great vid, dope sounds. as always. you are the inspiration
Roar is probably the best stock plugin ever, and I still havent used yet
Real.

When I'm recording a video, I know the values I want, and I use the numpad because it's faster and easier than the mouse/trackpad.
@@YanCook You just gave me peace of mind for a decade, thank you :_)
For real Game changer
reason 1 - sold. Wow. no link in description i will find it myself thanks yan cook you techno legend

Of course, 100% possible, the only thing I would need to add is a meter, I can recommend a nice M4L device, Swiss Army Meter.
Oft great video. Did you group your Kick and Bass and then use the ROAR on the group track to effect both?
Exactly :)

Morph eq is cool too. Roar saturation modulation sounds amazing especially in the hands of master Cook
Amazingggg!!

Awesome ❤️🔥Thanks 💪🏼
Awesome demo, can I ask why you manually type in values as opposed to changing the parameter with the mouse?
It's much faster to me this way, and it's a habit.
@@YanCook ahhh I see, it’s interesting, it almost seems as though you commit to changes more and any tweaks are more deliberate
I need to get back on ableton.
sold!

This is fucking coooool!!!!
Very good track ✌️✌️✌️✌️
Did you try Opal already, seems like right up your alley?
Yeah, I own most of Fors devices, quality stuff 👌
I'm not gonna switch DAWs, but this is a nicely designed plugin.
Don’t switch DAWs, use all the DAWs
Найс, кул!
Oii mama!!!
Is this only for Ableton 12?
Yes
its like everything you put through that shit and whatever knob you twist is gonna sound dope... unfair plugin

Yeah, Analog Heat is the first that comes to mind, but there is also Sherman Filterbank 2, pretty crazy box))

Sherman looks too fiddly to get what I'm after. Its a bit too nasty/resonant IMO
@@delugedj Totally agree, a mini Push is my dream since Push 1 😁
