Hela becoming full white in her form is supposed to now be the Godess of Life instead of Death. Reminds me a lot of Raven in Apokolips War when she revived Damian and had a similar thing happen.
I'm glad they brought Cate Blanchette back she had great comic timing but Ragnarock didn't allow her more screen time. Also impressed that you're going toe to toe with Marvel and getting a video out per day can't be easy. So well done Charlie and whoever you're working with 👍🏿
I like the detail they put in with Hela speaking Mandarin. In Norse mythology, one of Thor’s powers is that he can speak any language and since they didn’t do that for the movies, it felt like a little nod to the source material.
I think that the line that Hela says to Odin about Fenrir, "He means you no harm" and Odin's reply of in time he would is actually a nod to real life norse mythology where Odin dies because Fenrir eats him at Ragnorok. And even in the actual myths he was originally not that dangerous (by some accounts) and it was only after Odin tricked and chained him that he swore vengence and to kill him at Ragnorok.
I was not expecting it to be a redemption story. I was expecting hela to come to earth and slap the 10 rings off weng wu and do some crazy dark stuff with. I wish it was a whole movie. This season had been so pleasing so far!
I’m still trying to wrap my head around how strong Hella was with the helmet and Mjolnir, let alone her helmet and Gungnar…imagine if she had all 3, the 10 rings and her air bending powers…friggin in.sane.

Jiayi pressing Hela on what she really wants seemed like a big Loki reference. It was very similar to Mobius asking Loki what he would do once he finished his conquest and Loki later saying he wanted the freedom to choose his own path not dictated by the TVA.
I liked how the 'casting out' of Hela to Midgard was done exactly the same way as Thor in his first movie, except that Odin destroys Mjolnir in the same way Hela does in Ragnorok
Hela hates Frigga because she changed Odin’s heart from conquering more realms, is what I gathered from this episode. Funny how easily Odin was stoked to get back out on the battlefield. This episode almost makes me wanna rewatch 10 Rings, but I’m scared I’m still gonna think it sucks dong…
My goodness this episode was extremely good and shows a redemption for Hela. It truly shows how Odin was a terrible father. All we need in the MCU is a serious Thor with a redemption.
This entire video was almost like being home in Northern Europe. You were hella impressive speaking my language. I've never heard of Bor or Buri, but I automatically recognized the words and their English translations as you were speaking, along with, of course, the other words that we're already familiar with, like Asgard and Hela from which we get the English words yard, garden, and Hell. You hella did that, Charlie.
I'm so glad Hela got a redemption arc! Her story in the MCU was tragic, and it was so touching to see her find a new role that took advantage of her strengths.
This probably my favorite episode so far pay great homage to thor 1 ,and shang chi interesting twist in hela who was already a great episode seeing wenwu ,and maurice got to ride into the battle to defeat thanos at end was so satisfying.
Loved this episode for Hela redemption arc. Was reminded of kid Silvie (& TVA) when Odin took kid Hela's puppy Fenris away from her... "she seemed so happy" before that moment 😢
Love this episode! Even though I wished we actually saw Shang Chi himself in a What If episode, I was still satisfied that we get to see Wenwu and Shang Chi's mother's ancestor train Hela! Also, Hela herself! I never imagined we get to see her have a similar arc to Thor and Loki! Now this, puts a smile on my face 😌
Could be a cool easter egg if the Mistress of Death was Hela’s mom, and Thanos had a jealous beef with Odin. Marvel could use it to explain why Thanos found his own daughters and why Odin hid some of the Infinity stones. They could explain why Odin was so bad a father, the breakup, and how Frigga helped him to become a better man. There could be a cool story there.
I really like that because then Thor and Loki could be like "dude he died chill out" but then Thanos Thanoses all over the place and is like "then send my regards" but then he ends up dying again and that's how they explore Immortal Hulk and Thanos, him being sent back to kill all the unkillable things that Death craves to meet. Vs the Eternals, the Krakoan era Xmen. That would be so compelling for me 😭

It is actually the same Morris from Shang-Chi. This is proven when he "speaks" for the first time. He is off-screen, so if you have captions on it identifies him as Morris.
This is definitely the best redemption for Hela gives her more development then Ragnarok, and her chemistry with the characters of Shang chi even the mandarin was nice and her new outfit. Remind me of Raven from teen Titans.
I think Frigga is deffo a Valkyrie (which makes sense why the Valkyries we're loyal to the crown in Thor: Ragnorok and why Hella despised her in this episode and why she took pleasure in killing them in Thor: Ragnorok) in how the way she fights as in Thor: Love and Thunder you see her with a baby Thor fighting in battle and also a witch aswell as she was the one who taught Loki magic
I love the fact that you REALLY GOT TO KNOW HELA. Her motive and her Why. She needed the people of Tao Lao to strip off her hard exterior to see what she really wants.
Thanks for mentioning how powerful Odin actually is. Like, I get it, they just wanted the plot to go a certain way. But the whole time i was kinda like "yeah this isn't how this would go. Odin is basically invincible." Overall though, super cool episode
Man imagine if this Hela was apart of the multiverse avengers team she could take thors place he wasn’t recruited again and would help massively against any threat.
I've seen a lot of comments about Odin being nerf badly in this Universe so maybe due to plot armor, it's the day when he needed to go into his Odin sleep to recharge so he was basically almost flat during the confrontation. 😀
Odin is quite weaker than he should be for this, he is almost as weak as you english writing ability! The internet has ruined peoples ability to converse. This episode needed to show off her using the new kung fu, so getting the spear from Odin being a thing that weakens him in this story is fine. It's what the writers decided to do with it. P.S. My writing may be poor as well, but try to make sense, so people have an easier time knowing what they are reading and don't have to put on dummy goggles
With hela going from an all black outfit to an all white outfit it reminded me of in the lord of the rings franchise where Gandalf the gray became Gandalf the white and changed outfits
This was my favorite episode! I honestly teared up at the end. Episode 6 was my last favorite so I’m excited for the rest of the season! I’m loving your breakdowns.
I think in this timeline, Wenwu also found the 10 rings earlier than in the main timeline since the episode is supposed to take place before Thor is born, who is 1,500 yrs old and Wenwu supposedly found the 10 rings 1,000 yrs before the Shang Chi movie.
an interesting concept in this episode. It was nice to see Hela find some peace and redemption. Wenwu finding a kind of redemption too was an interesting change too. A three way team up to run the the entire universe.

It had a good setup, but I don't buy Hela's redemption at the end. I also don't buy de-powered Hela and Wenwu defeating Odin. Not in a million years could they beat Odin, even together.
I've got 2 things people haven't seemed to notice. 1. MCU Thor would've been born about 500 years before Wenwu found the 10 rings, meaning there's no way he'd even be alive when Hela came to earth. Just a little continuity error. 2. When young Hela tells Odin that Fenrir means him no harm, and Odin says "not yet", that's a nod to Norse Mythology. Fenrir, like Hela, is actually a child of Loki. Fenrir is destined to kill Odin in the war of Ragnarok.
I haven't read all the commentaries so I don't know if anyone already mentioned this, but I feel like there's a strong symmetry between Odin-and-his-daughter-Hela and Thanos-and-his-daughter-Gamora. Both guys are incredibly powerful, both are conquerors of sorts, both have daughters from unknown mothers (as far as I know)… I think Gamora's origins were hinted to earlier in the season, in the Tony Stark vs. The Grand Master episode. This might relate to that. What if both Gamora and Hela were adopted by their "fathers" anyways? (maybe a little far-fetched but isn't the show titled "What if…?") Also, obvisously, both Thanos and Odin forged their daughters into deadly weapons, which I guess is my whole point.
The peak Viking era was around 730 - 1066CE - Wenwu was born around 900-1000CE. The vikings knew of and worshipped Thor as a grown adult - meaning Hela's banishment to Midgard in the time of Wenwu is far too late. As she rebelled against Odin before Thor was born. In this alternate reality, Hela must've rebelled against Odin much later than she did in the 616 continuity.
1. Tbh Thor did say to Gamora in Infinity War that Hella was indeed his half-sister but everyone missed that or just saw it as a joke 2. They should deffo do like an animated prequel of MCU's Asgard to flesh out characters like Odin, Frigga, Heimdall and even the Warriors Three or even just a What If spin-off of Hela's journey as a cosmic guardian of peace
I really didn’t think Hela would get a redemption arc, but I was really enjoyed. My enjoyment for this episode turned out great , not bad of an episode, but I was really really satisfied.
It would be cool if in one random movie in one random quick scene we just see The Watcher in the sky like we did in this episode. A blink and you’ll miss it moment.

I think this was a huge missed opportunity for Hela to actually gain powers of the 10 rings. They should have showed Oden killing Wenwu , and Hela, using her newfound air bending powers to use the 10 rings and fight against Oden. There was no way that they should have beaten Oden the way it was depicted in this episode. I think that they tried to sneak in a woke message against the patriarchy and that was the reason why this episode played out the way it did. Either way I can’t wait to see the upcoming episodes.
We've truly come full circle. Anti-woke people now assuming "woke messaging" in media where it's nowhere to be found. What a brain dead conclusion to come to lol
please do the history of asgard video... i would love to watch that! im game for anything thor related, hands down my favorite McU character and by far the most powerful, whatever the movies seem to imply!
Since the new god of war games, to this it makes me appreciate how Loki, Hela, and Thor/ Norse mythology has been portrayed respectively. Esp after GOW Ragnarök, there is a bit uneasy with MCU Odin and this what if ep shows a different side of him. I would want a what if ep, where Atreus meets Loki, an older Sunny Suljic interaction with Tom Hiddleston just seems so unrealistic yet weirdly possible with the Sony collaboration they have going on right now.
These episodes have been fairly meh so far, plus I think a big part that I don't like is how bad the copy/paste feels. Having Hela throw the hammer and Odin grabs it and destroys it...just to mirror the movies....having him take her helmet and enchant it like the hammer...all was just bleh.

I didn’t know I needed to see Odin Vs Wenwu until this episode. I think this might be one of the top tier underrated episodes of What if

ODIN was super underwhelming to say the least……waited to see him in action for so long only to get this 😂

In this alternate reality, Hela must've rebelled against Odin much later than she did in the 616 continuity.

1. Tbh Thor did say to Gamora in Infinity War that Hella was indeed his half-sister but everyone missed that or just saw it as a joke
2. They should deffo do like an animated prequel of MCU's Asgard to flesh out characters like Odin, Frigga, Heimdall and even the Warriors Three or even just a What If spin-off of Hela's journey as a cosmic guardian of peace

I really didn’t think Hela would get a redemption arc, but I was really enjoyed. My enjoyment for this episode turned out great , not bad of an episode, but I was really really satisfied.
It would be cool if in one random movie in one random quick scene we just see The Watcher in the sky like we did in this episode. A blink and you’ll miss it moment.

I think this was a huge missed opportunity for Hela to actually gain powers of the 10 rings. They should have showed Oden killing Wenwu , and Hela, using her newfound air bending powers to use the 10 rings and fight against Oden. There was no way that they should have beaten Oden the way it was depicted in this episode. I think that they tried to sneak in a woke message against the patriarchy and that was the reason why this episode played out the way it did. Either way I can’t wait to see the upcoming episodes.

This episode was almost perfectly tailored for me to love it.
Since the new god of war games, to this it makes me appreciate how Loki, Hela, and Thor/ Norse mythology has been portrayed respectively.
Esp after GOW Ragnarök, there is a bit uneasy with MCU Odin and this what if ep shows a different side of him.
I would want a what if ep, where Atreus meets Loki, an older Sunny Suljic interaction with Tom Hiddleston just seems so unrealistic yet weirdly possible with the Sony collaboration they have going on right now.
These episodes have been fairly meh so far, plus I think a big part that I don't like is how bad the copy/paste feels. Having Hela throw the hammer and Odin grabs it and destroys it...just to mirror the movies....having him take her helmet and enchant it like the hammer...all was just bleh.
Hela’s motivation to give everyone freedom reminded me of Sylvie in Loki season 2

Canonically, Asgard and Sakkar are "on opposite sides of the (known) universe" so conquering the "entire universe" would be possible in this context.
What if was meant to be episodes like this. Most of season 2 has been so mid. But this was something special! More of this!!!
Odin saying “…be Worthy…” for Thor and “…Know Mercy….” for Hela is interesting.
Each character had a weakness. Thor was prideful and cocky, unworthy to be a king. Hela had no respect for life, only merciless darkness.
