Still got my Ultima and Optima from back in the day. Wish I had kept more of my old cars.
Looking forward to seeing how the mixed paint comes out.
Loads kicking around to buy and they don't seem to be flying out of the shops, You can still get the JJ Ultima pretty easily too so I'm not sure either of the 60th buggies are hard to come by! The Fantom was a different beast, much more niche and therefore a way smaller production run was done based on anticipated demand.
I did hear the Kyosho was struggling to meet shop preorders for the Mid prototype and Kyosho stopped taking store orders. Like you say, the JJ is still around all over the place so I guess we will just have to see. The JJ price for a 2WD was not easy to justify, so I think that damaged unit sales a bit.

I'm not sure how limited it will be either since to my knowledge they haven't specified a production number. It certainly seems to be easy enough to get hold of at the moment so I guess time will tell.
JJ now discontinued on A-main.

Great video, its nice to see inside the box, mine got delivered yesterday but is still sealed while i decide how to build it.
I think its reasonably priced compared with the standard mid, all that alloy and carbon is expensive to buy aftermarket.
I think the green is quite close to the hobbynox aqua blue i had on my procat.

I'm really loving that green optima mid..I'm totally busy dealing with this indoor carpet season to purchase one now. Yea, my total house burned down this aug.23rd and I lost all 13 cars and parts and tools. So, re-buyin everything to race a 2wd and a 4wd has been very interesting....oh,I had my practice yokomo buggy with me, so I was lucky there...

Easiest way to get a colour match Gav is to take a wheel to a paint supplier and see if they can mix you a can by scanning the wheel. Job done.
I didn't forgot this model, type it model and found an today model.from 80'. Some forgot, not me about journalist articles even from 83...
Just a follow up I should also mention I prepaid and paid in full, having the same issue with the Tamiya squash van

I found one shop with them in stock in Australia here and every other store still has them listed as pre orders... I will have it before christmas now which is awesome! Still no idea on the RC10 CC tho...

Yeah I would definetely want to get one but I blew the budget for this year in getting a standard Optima Mid😆but its a beauty for sure😃👌👌
I’m so upset, I pre-ordered as soon as possible at my local national retail hobby store here in the USA. Still have not received my Kyosho Optima. They have no idea when it will be in. I have contacted other large retailers and they have no idea either. I really dropped the ball on their shipping and exporting for this car. The US tends to get left behind with a lot of these import cars
Normally green is my least favorite color, but something about this buggy speaks to me. Cant wait to get mine , and to see what others use for paint
I don't recall the mint green rims being a thing in the USA. Help me out on that and educate me with the green rims

The Optima Mids are rather affordable when compared to modern racing 4WD buggies from Team Associated, Xray, Schumacher, TLR, etc..

Is yours missing the decals? Apparently Aus stock arrived without the decals! And the supplier said the kit was rushed and Kyosho will supply decals in the new year to customers!
Love the look of this but bought the Koswork edition just before this was announced and the budget doesn’t stretch far enough for 2.
A few people have been in the same situation and as it’s close it just isn’t worth getting.
Hi there! I love your videos about RC's especially Kyosho. I need your help if you don't mind. I'm building a Kyosho Optima. What's a gpod motor, ESC, steering servo, receiver and remote control would you recommend I use? The RC's I see in youtube runs super fast. I don't know how they do it but you guys make it so EASY assembling one and having it run perfect. Any help and advice from you is appreciated. - Desperate RC enthusiast
I think I bit off more than I can chew!! Aside from my Optima, I also bought an Optima Mid, Turbo Optima and Turbo Scorpion kit. My problem is here in Las Vegas, USA, we don't have a hobby shop anymore that I can ask to assemble this for me and I'll just pay a service fee. Hobby Town already closed permanently. I'm thinking of just returning these to Amazon rather than letting it go to waste & just collecting dust. Don't get me wrong, I played with RC's before in the late 80's. I had mostly Tamiya's. But back in the Philippines back then, you buy your RC from a Hobby shop and they assemble it for you. You come back after a few days to pick it up. You only need to turn on the remote and run the RC. You don't deal with assembling it. Anyway, thanks for any help and advice you can give me.
Hi, I would look at a HobbyWing Combo ESC and brushless motor. That will be more than enough and you are looking around the £90 mark for the two. A Savox servo are a good bet to get you going. My favourite transmitter is the Flysky Noble but it can be a bit expensive so a Flysky FS-GT3B can be a good place to start.

@@babymetalfansmetalfans9615 Yep I’ve seen them. If you are going to run on carpet with a brushless motor, make sure the slipper is set correctly. Really this buggy needs gear diffs for carpet.

Which vintage release is the best for racing?
I would go Cougar Classic, Team Associated B3 or Optima Mid 60th if you want 4WD
Kyosho plastics are so much better than Tamiya. You have to get TRF level plastics to match basic Kyosho parts which is sad

1. I don't understand the color scheme. Personally I dislike it
2. No blister pack???
3. The tires on your optima mid imho are worse looking that llm the ones that came with the kit
4. Keep up the vids. Waiting for the build vid with comparison to the re re optima mid
Hate the color, love the body. I would paint the wheels to match the body (and it wouldn't be that awful green).
I feel like I love the color but I still haven't bought it because of the color LOL

When you factor in inflation these re-releases are far cheaper now than when originally released.

A persone that buy kioscho or tamyia is beacuse the coletor thing not Run out Race. like the traxxas .that make a lot of Spare parts and dont have the problem .it the Spare parts!our like the HB our swortz .dont have the problem 🙂 .they release a new model like This our outher model.and pass one ear and they have problems.it make Spare parts .our make the same mistake dont sale! 😕and a persone that buy. This model our tamiya is better thah thing is buy out not🤔?in my opinion dont buy 🙄 they release This model and they have problems it the sulplie in the stores 🙁 .
It's a shame how this release ended up in plastic bags in a box. No blisters whatsoever. Total garbage and just another cheap money grab by Kyosho.

I would just get a 2S Tamiya style Lipo, that way it will just slide in without any mods.
