    There's a guy going around lately telling people (mostly young men) that : "if you want to improve your life, start by cleaning your room". It actually makes a lot of sense and once again, I can relate to what you said in this video. I revamped my all living room/workshop (same room, just like you) earlier this week and it's unbelievably therapeutic. I probably do it at often as you do, and I don't mind that at all, no matter the amount of time it takes (it can take an entire day). And like you kind of said, it helps going forward by removing all the small things that weren't perfect in your "previous life" (I'm exaggerating a bit here, but that's the spirit)

      Whoever that guy is. Hes right. And I'll add to it.
      "If your life sucks for any reason. If theres anything wrong. It's your own fault, because you can change anything that's bad, but in order to be able to change those things, you need to realize what's wrong with you. Fix those things first so you can fix the rest, all while changing your mental perspective. And your life wont suck anymore"
      I did everything in that quote. It works very well. I just havent figured out a way to say it to people for them to understand, but I say it to my closest friends through conversations and it works for them when they realize.
      I'm happy you did all of this too, and it worked for you, I'm glad your on the same page, you seem like a very clear headed, wise, smart individual. I like that. Thank you for being yourself

      @@RETROGAMINGARTS To be completely honest, my brain is doing it, not me. The best example I have. I'm renting a house in UK, I was removing the huge "black marble" sticker on the kitchen worktop. That's the kind of thing that when you start, you cannot go back, like removing wallpaper. 5 minutes into it, I just realize "I hope my wife doesn't ask me what pushed me to do that because I honestly don't remember, I just left my chair an did it" (it took me 3 hours). Turns out, the black marble sticker that I didn't like and always gives the impression that the kitchen worktop is dirty was hiding a perfect looking worktop !
      I wish I could claim that those are rational decisions. At some points, my brain just snaps and needs to see something change/improve. All credit goes to my brain, not me ^-^ Sounds stupid but that's how I feel about it

    To keep your PS a little cooler, you can get two 1/4” or 1/2” square dowel rods, paint them black or wraps them in black felt cloth and place them under the system. That will allow heat to escape through the bottom also.

    Hello just got done watching your video on cleaning up the mess behind the entertainment system because for the thousandth time I'm going to attempt to do it again, your video was extremely helpful, I do the exact same thing with the zip ties and the staple gun but I'm also a hot glue guy which comes in handy when you got speaker wire that's going down a block wall, hot glue does the job just got to be sure you wear finger protectors or you will cook your finger LOL then paint the speaker wire exactly the color of the wall and you won't ever notice it's there.
    This is what I'm getting ready to do in just a few minutes
    I have a Pioneer Elite SC 37 that will be handling all connections.
    I have 15 devices plus
    24 speakers 10 of those speakers are large speakers, the 6 Sansui's are im guessing 15 years older then you. & defiantly 4 possibly 6 subwoofers. I agree with your thought process about having all the speaker wire the same type, age length length of course is depending on the speakers Pacific locations.. And definitely must have positive to positive negative negative because speakers in general are not made to be used in Reverse phase you can damage the speakers and in long-term use ultimately the receiver will die, I agree I don't notice the difference but now that I have learned of what can happen I make sure that they're all hooked up correctly, I certainly at this stage in my life cannot afford to replace these items just because I wouldn't take the time to properly connect them. subwoofers on the other hand can handle being out of phase because they're generally made that way the expensive ones anyway. I wish I had all that speaker wire you have. I gave you a definite thumbs-up and I subscribed.

    Retro Gaming Arts, nice job!
    I actually did something similar with the desktop, I had a bunch of excess wires, like speakers powered by usb, printer USB cable.
    I shortened the speakers to where it fits the desktop slim case, an emachines el1358-gl iirc. Bundled the wires for bluray drive, printer etc together.
    Then I measured the desktop bluray and monitor power cables, taped them so they stay in one section and relabeled them for clarity on my surge supressor.
    Only thing I really would consider now is shortening the cord on the surge suppressor, just need to find the right wall plug part.
    I had an idea of hiding cables behind the TV with Velcro ties but didn't work the way I wanted it to, might have to retry sometime.
    Also, if you have any v9 ps2s on hand and want to fit a pic based laserfix into one I've got the schematic drafted with the points. Now to find my gh-026 v10.
    Cheers and keep up the good work,

    I was sensing the you were trying to find a relatable justification for keeping things nice. I'm thinking the the rationale that you finally settled on was to keep things nice for the sake of seeing things nice. As a person with ADHD, who very much struggles GETTING to an organization, to say nothing of keeping in that way, I'd like to offer what I think is easily the most compelling reason to keep things nice: STRESS! It's stressful to not know where your things are. So many times I had to forego something, or buy another copy of something else because I had no idea where it was. And it is depleting to look at. And it makes me afraid to have guests over. My problems it that, at any one time, I have, oh, about 20 -30 projects going on at various states of completion less that 100% and the one I will be working on now is hardly the most important one. It's just the one that distracted me.

    great video, I just wanted to comment that I was reading that you shouldn't hook up two power strips/surge protectors to the same 2 port outlet. I imagine this is for fear trying to draw too much power from the outlets at once. I just bought a 12 port Belkin on Amazon for $25 (i think). It's similar in size to the white one you have but it has 6 ports spaced out on the sides so you could have larger power bricks plugged in (think Sega Genesis as an example) and then a row of 6 regularly spaced plugs down the middle. I'd recommend something like that. I have my TV, PS4, Xbox One S, soundbar, Switch, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, and Roku 3 plugged into it at the moment.

      Did you notice I also fan modded the receiver, LMAO! for your glass shelves i would use doubble sided tape to re rout the cables to the legs of the tv stand. And zip tie them around the legs.

    Well the trouble with such fixed and permanent solutions, is that it becomes troublesome to make changes, additions etc. Mounting things to walls can also create more of a mess. And although the cables are less visible they arent more attractive or even more organized.....But then i shouldn't expect much from a guy with Sony Speakers

  • @ronny302
    @ronny302 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if you change one of the devices. Let´s say PS4 to PS5? You have to rib off all the wires to get out one or two cables. It´better to just get a cable channel sticked to the wall and manage everything loose inside the channels.

    Good thing you didn't wall mount the OSSC, because to change any settings you have to use an IR remote control. Or the buttons on front, but you have to be able to see the screen on the unit. Even with your minimalist setup, there are a TON of wires. It's ridiculous how quick they pile up!

      I've been doing this for a while to ally game systems and setups, I've made a bunch of videos every time I re-do it. And that never really happened. What does happen is I end up selling 3-4 devices at once and needing to redo the ENTIRE setup, lol. Maybe once a year? I would say. And it's always nice to do, because you can keep it fresh and always keep it nice, I just replaced a computer monitor recently and had to redo the whole setup for 1 item, and because I had done it so many times it was super quick and easy for my pc setup.

    Zip ties are not bad, but if you need to change a cable, then you are going to have to cut all those ties.

  • @BangMaster96
    @BangMaster96 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would love to zip-tie all my wires, but every once in a while, i have to change some wires, or move some stuff around, and for that, i have to remove the wires and remount them. So zip-tying all my wires and having to cut all the zip-ties to move stuff around just becomes too tedious. I went with buying a cable adhesive, that just glues cables on the wall and i can move them easily using that.

    • @mordecai8707
