      So true! Nothing worse than a drummer who needs their tech to explain what they’re using… :) Maybe they never got the gear bug like so many of us have. Anyway great drummer/band that I’ve followed for many years! Wonderful rig rundown!

    I like very much how pro this kit is , using triggers instead of acoustic natural sound really gives opportunities to sound to be near to perfection cause some samples are amazing and the mixture of two sounds sometimes are oneway road at mixing section or mastering.It's always nice when we prepare our equipment to fullfill all sequences needed.Yeah man,great kit!!

    The UK has really stepped up to the plate in the world of producing drums and drum products, recently. Code drumheads and British Drum Co. are amazing quality brands and I believe stand up to any American, Japanese, or German drum companies. Those two brands are absolutely top notch.

    Thanks for doing the video. Like alot of your choices. I'm hearing nothing but good stuff from British Drum Company regarding their drums. And currently. Birch drums and Zildjian A cymbals work well for metal. So good choices from my end. Only thing missing, and most drummers do it, they don't talk about their hardware and rack system, cymbal arms/stands etc. Nice kit their Mr. Octopuss :)

    Hi! Really cool setup and hacks. Thanks for sharing!
    I am hobby metal drummer and - oh dear, when I bought the Toontrack EZX I honestly did not know, that you were performing with Devin. The Toontrack guys put your interview at the very bottom of the product page.
    Awwww, I love these EZX and SDX! I used them for VST drumming, with rather cheap pads but ... this sounds so good.
    I mean, you made it. You have a perfect mix of your nice drums, with good mics. Me, I spent a lot of time in dark basements with huge spiders and humidity and strange smells and bunch of crazy guys to make some zombie metal AND I never got the sound of perfectly mixed drums. Ha! Then my wife came up with the idea, to buy an ekit for the kids. And as a metal drummer, you know, know way, I said. But you know: Happy wife - happy life! And I grabbed a cheap Millenium MPS-850 AND EZDrummer2 and ... that was is - with: "For the kids!"
    Amazing, these sample libraries!
    And I also got the cheap version of your stool. I just got an tactile transducer or ass shaker, butt kicker - you know - an old subwoofer amp and baaam! Together with your samples, the IEMs and the butt kicker ... Amazing experience. AND I switch between DeathMetal and UKPop, Jazz kits with 2 clicks. :-)

      It works so well. It took me a while to find a way to make it work without having the upright bar in-between the bass drums. I never liked the look of that. It’s really stable. It’s 2 of the 8 inch extension bars either side and the little cymbal extensions holding it to the main rack.

    • @ChrisEdrich
      @ChrisEdrich ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DarbyTodd Correct, and I'd say closer to 10 than 15%, in most places I almost can't hear the difference when I mute the trigger. And I'm actually using it more for the attack/snap than for the tail, it kinda takes over in the rare instances of a slightly weaker hit, to make sure they all pierce through the wall of guitars and orchestral tracks.

    • @DarbyTodd
      @DarbyTodd  ปีที่แล้ว

      When the cymbal started to crack the cymbal completely loses its tone. Sounds more like a dull thud. Cutting it out def made it sound like a resonant cymbal. I’m sure it doesn’t sound quite as good as when it’s in working order but it’s crazy how much better it sounds when the crack is gone. I went to Zildjian and swapped the broken one for a 19 A thin crash. I’ve never tried the thins before. I’ve always been a medium thin person. The thins really sound good.

    • @DarbyTodd
      @DarbyTodd  ปีที่แล้ว

      We used a single kick on the previous tour but decided that having a larger looking kit would be the way to go. There was a small issue of channels on the desk. If we used two kicks I’d only be able to have kick in mics on both rather than kick in and out mics. I’ve spent my whole life using a double pedal. I’m comfortable with it and it allowed me to have the slave exactly where I wanted it rather than compromise. So yeah it’s purely for the more rock n roll look!

      Timothy, have you listened to Devin's music? There is tons of background ambience, synths, samples etc. that go on in the backing tracks that are mentioned.
      All the people who are playing instruments up on stage play their own stuff 100%, this is nothing like Mötley 😊

    • @DarbyTodd
      @DarbyTodd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey. I completely get what you are saying. As someone else has just commented. The backing tracks aren’t really playing musical parts. We play the majority of everything you hear on stage. There’s just a ton of noises and FX etc on the playback. Also some orchestral parts. Unfortunately in this climate to make everything 100% percent live we would need several keys players, an orchestra, and a choir!! It’s not cost effective! The backing stuff isn’t parts that we could play. I agree that when bands use tracks to play things they could be playing live is pretty bad. This isn’t that. Hope this explains a bit. Thanks.
