  • Today's video shares quick tips for how to tile a shower floor. We share tips and tools that make this a lot easier no matter what your skill level. The links we promised are down below

    Masterpiuma Tile Cutter - goo.gl/212GNN
Ishii Big Clinker Tile Cutter - goo.gl/QrG9Sp
    Silica Dust Respirator - amzn.to/2u1NGYw
    Bosch Laser Level -- tinyurl.com/y8...
    Horseshoe tile spacers - amzn.to/2PSISPt
    linoleum knife -- amzn.to/2TzAwdQ
    Grout float -- amzn.to/2DDrh70
    1/4" x 1/4" trowel - amzn.to/2FAJJ2A
The first step to tiling a shower floor start in a corner and layout the sheets of tile.
Then work your way toward the drain. In this example we cut 4 tiles from the center of the sheet to see what that would look like.
From there, we added sheets of tile toward the plumbing wall, back wall, curb, and shower bench.
Industry standards require a minimum 1/8" expansion and contraction joint between the tile and wall boards or curb.
Cutting tiles for the shower floor is a lot easier with an angle grinder and diamond blade. But wear a silica dust respirator.
Our Part 2 video will share how to set these tiles on the shower floor using thin-set mortar.

How do you guys always know what I'm getting ready to do? Just at the point of tiling the shower floor on my bathroom renovation. These videos are very informative and well done. Thanks.

thank you, the next video will also clear up important questions. For example, we’ll discuss which mortar to use and which one to avoid like the plague!

Any issues with the slope ‘lines’ that run from the corners to the drain on the Wedi bases? No need to treat them as a corner?

Did you lay the tile right on top of the shower pan or you removed the pan?

About the tiles.... porcelain OR ceramic? Isn't porcelain sturdier? Home Depot says floor tile should be 1/2" thick? What is the friction coefficient of the tiles selected? Please more info on shower pan floor tile selection.

Do you have a video of how to do the shower floor in prep for the tile? We have a molded shower right now that I will remove. I’m following your other videos on prepping the walls with the Wedi boards. Just can’t find how to prep the floor.

In my layout my drain will not be inline with shower valve and shower head. In floor slope it is in middle but due to construction issues my shower valve will be off by 1 1/2”-2”. Do you think this will be ok?
    Thanks,
    Dick

Great videos! You mentioned that we can support your channel by making purchases from your online store, but I can't find a link in descriptions (or descriptions). Do you mean that I can only purchase the idividual items - like the diamond blade - by clicking on it's link. I was hoping that you might have an online storefront where I could purchase the full line of Wedi Products. Am I missing something?

You tile the floor before you tile the walls? Is this recommended by the Tilers Union? or does it matter. :)

I would never use such small tiles for a shower floor. So much groutlines where grime can build up in, it’s just gross. Use the biggest tile you can for bathrooms.

The only way you could have slope with huge tiles is if you use a linear drain off to the side not in the middle. correct?
