The bread in restaurants thing I my favorite part of some meals. I have never had a place serve bad bread, in fact it's usually really good stuff. There was one Cafe I used to go to that would give you free fresh made muffins with in store made butter as a starter with everything, might have cost them virtually nothing, but those muffins were the thing that kept me coming back as they were heavenly

As a grocery worker I’ve noticed that most customers notice shrinkflation. I’m not sure how well it’s going to continue to work for companies. Of course since all companies do this there is not much choice.
I go in with a shopping list and do not deviate from that , no matter the deals on offer - these days in particular , when prices are rising as fast as petrol/gasoline blows up when lit .
I was gonna say if every company did it you have no choice. I find it like gasoline. Could be cheaper but we're else will you go to get it. Monopoly 😂

Totally agree with the way ads perpetuate bad stereotypes. They do this because they want to quickly identify with their audience. What they don't realize is how much they either offend their audiences or, in the case of younger viewers, endorse those stereotypes. They never seem to notice that the award winning ads are those that break stereotypes and promote good values and realities. But, idiots will be idiots.
Those products die in 5 years. Men buy truth. But when you lie? The women buy.

OMG!! If it isn't bad enough to live in a consumerist culture where we are bombarded with ads to buy in every possible place our eyes look, we are constantly being manipulated with multiple marketing strategies.
What's considerably scarier is I'll just mention a product to my husband IN PERSON, not on any electric device (or even near one), and suddenly I'll start getting pop-up ads for that product. "Big Brother" is watching! Or at least listening...It's very "1984" for 2023.

I had a friend who worked at Pillsbury as a food stylist -- that's a person who sets up the food to be filmed for commercials. She said most of what you are looking at is spray glycerin because it makes things shiny, makes meat look juicy, etc.

As for the negative effects of sugar substitutes, the bottom line is, don't eat processed foods anymore than necessary. Processed means anything mostly manufactured and/or ready-serve. What do you eat? A wide variety of FRESH fruit, FRESH (or plainly frozen) vegetables and un-processed fish and egg whites. Also, fat-free yoghurt is good. If that sounds like it's missing major food groups, all it is missing are fats and starches. Also, no alcohol, no soda and only tea with fat-free milk. By primarily limiting yourself to that diet you'll feel so much better inside of a week you'll see why I recommend it. Apart from special occasions, that's about all I eat.

There's a TV show here in Australia that exposes all the advertising tricks and has advertising industry people on it explaining the whole process. One thing they revealed was with food that the steam you see coming from certain foods (e.g. burgers) comes from microwaved female sanitary items hidden under the foods.

With things like the shirt (20:00), I think it depends if you're actually going to use the second one or not. If you'd probably end up buying a second shirt, or whatever the item is, at a later time anyway, then buying the 2-for-18 makes sense. If you're only likely to use the one, then only pay for what you'll actually use.

I was waiting for the bit about TH-cam not so secretly trying to force us to watch ads or pay the evil corporate overlords for ad free but that never showed up
TH-cam send that to me regularly & it's regularlarly refused/ignored , as adds can be skipped or something else done while the adds play .
I wouldn't mind the ads so much if they would bring back the warning that ads are coming up (particularly with the free movies because the audio on the movies is so much lower than normal videos so it gives me a heads up to turn the volume down when they pop up), if the ads wouldn't skip a portion of the video I was watching so I didn't have to rewind it after every ad break, and if the ads wouldn't randomly show up in a completely different language despite me having absolutely no interaction with said language
they recently made it so my add-blocker can no longer be used, now instead of 1 or 2 adds (not including the forced, unskippable adds before and after the videos) i get an add every 5 minutes, the fact that some of these adds are longer then the video itself is alarming... once had a whole movie as an add... and a concert... on my phone or tablet i get normal adds most the time like 2 30 second adds every so often... so we get in video adds and bombarded with youtube adds... all to try and make us grab a sub that we will probably forget we have while they raise the price without us knowing... ps use reloadable cards to avoid this, then you know exactly how much youre paying per month and if you know you arent gonna be using that service much that month just dont load the card untill youre ready to use the service again!!
