[[ NOTES: ]]
Wow, this has been one of the most requested songs on my channel to date! In honor of the movie's recent release, I figured now would be a good time to finally listen to what everyone's been saying, haha. First of all, let me go ahead and say that THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THE OFFICIAL MELODY FOR THIS SONG... I'm aware that there's an official version out that goes with the movie's soundtrack, but this is my own personal melody and arrangement!
I considered just covering the movie one, but I instead opted to record the version that's been floating around in my head for a few months now. It's very different than most of the melodies that are out there, but I hope you guys like it! It is my thank you for all of the wonderful support you've shown for my "Hanging Tree" arrangement - the overwhelming response to it still blows my mind! And another very special thank you to my friend Xenia for helping me out once again with her beautiful artwork for this cover - her Hunger Games drawings are just fantastic, and you should check them out for sure!
As always, thank you so much for listening, and I really do hope you enjoy this arrangement as much as I enjoyed recording it! Love you all, and I hope you have a great week! ♥

Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open the sun will rise
Here it's safe, and here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from all harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you
Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when again it's morning they'll wash away
Here it's safe, and here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from all harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you

It's a crime that the people in charge of the music in the movie didn't make a beautiful arrangement for these lyrics in the first movie. One of Katniss main characteristics throughout the whole series is her beautiful voice that makes birds go silent, and IMO they totally wasted the potential. If they had put this, Adrisaurus' version or similar during credits I would've burst in tears. That's my only pet peeve with the movies.
I put this in my mp3 player and will buy your songs in itunes Adri, this is beautiful and heartbreaking :')
and the crowd would've gone silent..
sweet sweet silent
it is wonderful and amazing. you are VERY VERY talented. but i dont think you should really critisize (idk how to spell it). i mean they did do a great job!
I did not mean that way, i meant everyone would be stunned by the beauty of the music and they would just stand, listening to the music until it ened and everyone just stood there, not saying anything.
The reason they arranged the song the way they did in the movies is probably because it’s a lullaby, which are typically soft and with slower pacing. This rendition is beautiful, but its rhythms/pace are too quick and awkward for a lullaby and the key signature isn’t exactly fitting. The version in the movie is the one you can imagine a mother singing to her child.
I didn’t want to butt in on an ancient discourse, but while I agree that this cover is beautiful, I personally believe that Jennifer’s version of it fit the grittier tone of the film. I, myself, as an occasional writer, realize the importance of making sure that the whole work must not break the tone it establishes. To break so, for a more ‘melodic’ tune, would break the immersion of the Hunger Games’ world-building. Which would be a shame.
While I love this cover of it, if the producers had used a similar, beautiful version of the lullaby in the movie, I would have wondered at such an out-of-place thing. I think there was a long thought that went into the movie’s use of the “un-elegant” portrayal of the song. If they had really wanted a more refined singing of the lullaby, I’m sure they could have hired somebody else to sing it, or even ask Jennifer to redo it, or probably do some digital editing of the audio to create this melody.
For some films, “imperfect” singing is done for a greater purpose than pleasing the ears. It might be to encourage a certain tone of the movie, show a particular trait of a character, or to imitate authenticity.
Nevertheless, I think you do have a very good point. Some movies, you just _want_ that smooth, harmonic melody. Good thing is, there’s almost always a cover of the song that doesn’t have to take into account limitations like fitting in with the movie and such.
Hey, guys! For anyone wondering where my original version of "The Hanging Tree" went, I didn't remove it - it's been wrongfully copyright claimed, so that's why it's not showing up at the moment. I think it may have gotten caught in a sweep and they mistook it for an unlawful upload of the Jennifer Lawrence's movie version, but I've filed a counterclaim and hopefully it should be up again soon. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks so much for the kind words! Keep checking back. :)

so I thought you should see this:)
That's aweful! I thought I accidently removed it from my Hunger Games playlist, it was my song :( I hope you claim it back, good luck with everything
I was just looking for it, and when I couldn't find it I started to freak out. I hope you can get it back.😀
omg noh. ur version is actually the best!!!! I hope they sort it out
Im so mad! I looked it up today and when it said this video was removed, I was so upset! I hope that they put it back up!!!!
when I have children I'm gonna sing this to them, it's beautiful
I let them read the books and then i let them see the movie than i let them listen this 😍
+iSerpentje :D Are you Dutch? You have to be Dutch.

"Here is the place where I love you" is so so deep because. in the games, you can have allies, a temporary feeling of home, but in the end, they're gonna die, or you're gonna kill each other. No real and withstanding relationship is possible. Katniss is singing about a safe place where there are no games and Katniss is free to love Rue all she wants.
😢😢😢
so true 😢😢😢
I miss Rue... RIP Little Angel.
Yea 😢
Why esther(orphan) must die in hunger games? Sad

Gita Refina May God bless you and your soul. I've been looking for the lyrics
Thanks
Its in the book
She already has them in the description
So captivating. The movie did not give this song enough justice. I'm glad you did.
This version sounds like a folk song that tells a tale of a dream and I love it
I love how it sounds folksy. That's how I imagined these songs.
I feel so awkward because we watched the movie in class and I murmured this song during Rue's death scene with Katniss and I didn't even notice everyone was looking at me till it was over, and some guy asked "You knew the song?" And I was like "Oh god"
you watched HG in class..? don't think that's legal, just sayin
i watched it in English
Julianna Salazar-Ramirez seriously? i can't watch the movie adaptation of a book we read in class bc there's a two minute long war scene
Eva Marbleson we had to get a permission slip signed. to watch it we skipped certain scenes
You're so lucky to be able to watch movies in class. In my country we can't watch movies, except for after a 8-week long examination, we are allowed to watch educational movies like The Magic School Bus ._. Or if we're lucky our teacher would be absent and there's a substitute teacher who would really let us watch Charlie And The Chocolate Factory or Matilda at the most.
I gotta quote Roy Mustang on this... "It's a terrible day for rain."
I love you forever for that comment, but also hate you for bringing my Hughes feels into this.
***** Sorry about that...
The Master Panda HUGHES!!!!! -goes to cry in a corner-
Wasn't it "It's going to rain today."
???
Oh my god, FMA! :D
honestly, i like it more than the original
+laura ruiz yeah, original was barely audible. plus, this one sounds more like a lullaby for me ;)
All these likes for only saying my opinion XD haha
Me too
LadyLaura me too
@Rue the Fox exactly that was my problem I couldn't tell what she was saying but of what I can tell it was similar
Hunger Games was the first young adult book that little 8 year old me read, Rue was the first person in anything I had ever read to die. This still decimates me every time I come back to it
I found this when I originally read the series about 12 years ago and I’m relistening while reading the new book! You made such a beautiful arrangement
Such a beautiful song, over the years I come here to listen to this precious.
Hahaha I cried ONLY 24 times during catching And even tho you have prob heard this a billion times, even tho it's not the official version this is BEAUTIFUL
am i hartless for not crying at cenner's death?
autumnaqua otaku
You mean Cinna?
autumnaqua otaku I cried at Cinna's death. When Katniss hugged Cinna goodbye and right before the quarter quell and the glass door closed i cried because I new what came next. That movie was so sad.
Mushie Pasta I was freaking out i was like : 'NOPE. CINNA ISNT DEAD. NO NO NO HE ISNT. HE'S STILL ALIVE!' and i kept repeating that although i know it wasnt true ;_;
***** I saw like this picture with the text [yeah it aint true but it broke my heart] 'What if after the minexplosion he ran away, and saw his family being sad abotu him and he didnt want to break their heart, so he went to the Capitol and got plastic surgery and got a darker skin and they renamed him 'Cinna', so thats why him and Katniss had such a strong conection.' Omfg ;_;
You’re voice so perfectly matches all these ‘hunger games’ songs. I think it’s because your voice is eerie and kind of haunting just like the books, your voice seems to capture to sadness of the story.
I don't know what to say....i just crying over the whole song. Your voice is so wonderfully beautiful and i'm clicking the repeat button countless times. I love the way you arrange this song and the other one from Hunger Games, The hanging tree. Both are so lovely artworks.
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard! Your voice is so sweet and smooth, you could be a singer! I'm not all that good, but you are an inspiration to me!
And I mean, like, having an ALBUM!
Your songs should have been used as the soundtrack for Mockingjay instead of Lorde. I love Lorde's version but your music suits the books and films so much more x
I don't know why, but this just puts me in a good mood. You have one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.
I will definitely sing this to my kids. (If I ever have kids that is) it's just so beautiful!
+Crafty Panda Do it. A song from a book is honestly one of the best things to sing, in my opinion. It's sweet.
I feel the worst deaths in both the first and second movies are Rue and Mags. I cried during both deaths and it takes me awhile to stop too. R.I.P. Rue.
This is amazing, this sounds so much better than the official one and closer to what I heard in my head when I first read the book way back when. You are greatly talented, thank you so much for sharing, this piece matches the words perfectly and truly sounds like the lullaby sang by a mother to her child. I love it.
Listening to this years after I first found it... i must have listened like crazy. I have the honor of remembering enough to sing along!
Just finished reading the new prequel and I am hoping for a Comeback of yours. Your versions of the songs are my all time favorites and I would love to hear the new ballads from you ♥
I remember watching these when I was so addicted to the hunger games in like 2014. I was singing the hanging tree to my little sister when I was reminded of the covers you sang. This is truly beautiful and angelic. No doubt gonna come to this video again soon. 💕
This is beautiful. I have been going through some tough times, and this just made my day.
Feel comfort when I listen this song ♥️
I love that her voice is so perfect for this song. she has a very delicate voice when she sings and being that this is a very sad and touchy moment of the hunger games, a moment in need of a delicate voice to display it, she nailed it. :)
Deep through the meadow, under the surface,
A bed of golden flowers makes you nervous.
Lay down your head, close your eyes and forget,
For when you wake, it'll all be reset...
Here it's safe and here it's warm,
Here, monsters will guard you from all harm.
Some endings are sweet and brings tears to your eyes,
But make the wrong choice and the sweetness dies.
Deep in the meadow, hidden from the surface,
The kindest hearts, the monsters possess.
The merciless humans, the monsters you knew,
Who are the real monsters to you?
Here it's safe and here it's warm,
Here, monsters will guard you from all harm.
Please don't leave them be, don't say goodbye.
Please save them, you must try.
(wrote an Undertale version just cuz)
+Frisk The Pacifist very clever and suits Undertale so well :)
What the fuck! Why do people like __this one__ but not mine?!?!?! MINE IS THE FUCKING ORIGINAL!!!!!!!!
Hester Franks I loved yours! Seeing yours actually made me want to write my own and that's why I did it :D
Frisk The Pacifist lol the, its just that I got no recognition for being original, but you did :( but it's good now
Victoria S lol, that's why dates exist :D
When I first read the first novel, I imagined this song to the melody of that lullaby Merida's mother used to sing to her in the disney movie Brave. Now after finding this, I forever hear this.
I downloaded this and I sleep with it on every night... It's so peaceful. I love it...
I don't know but you did this and the hanging tree justice. The movies didn't enchant me like you singing them. It makes me think of the books and get the feels hard yet beautiful too. =)
All your songs and covers are so beautiful!!!!
PLEASE post this to spotify 😣😣 I need this in my life 😩 beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Rue and Mags deaths where the most sad deaths in the two movies ;-;
in the two books!
No. In the books. When you read the books and then you watch the movie you're crying 'cause you got the story more intense. If you are just watching the movie you're like "Oh. How rude. They killed a little girl and an old woman."
@@Enchanteddy i cried at rue
This looks ancient.
What no, it's only... 10 years old????
I remember watching this when it came out
my friend told me about this almost a year ago
and i liked it so much
now this this thing just made me cry
these words mean alot to me
after i've lost some close friends of mine in Syria
the lyrics are just so touching
good job
I love your version of Rue's lullaby and always come back to listen to it.
Stunningly beautiful. Thank you
You truly amaze me; how you can transform a song into a masterpiece. I am a hunger Games addict so sing more songs in YOUR own version
I'm ur #1 fan
I'm speechless, you have an amazing voice! It's creepy but AMAZING :D
I thot the same thing
(Sorry for bad english i`m just 12) I heared it now for the 23th time and it`s wonderful like the first time i heared it! Your voice ist just beautiful! VERY BEAUTIFUL!!
It's wierd..this made me tear up a little bit just thinking of rue..and your voice...perfection.
This made me cry :') its so beautiful and you're voice is just phenomenal and so exotic. I love this so much and thank you so much for posting. This is now one of my favorite songs :) I broke the replay button~
Your voice makes me cry as it's just so beautiful
Beautiful voice! Very calming! This sure sounds like a lullaby for me! XD
Love it, wish they had sung the entire song in the movie.
This made me brake down in tears :( rue's death was the saddest death out of all of the deaths in the hunger games ;(
this is the best unofficial version I have heard of this song!!!!!!! your voice is so beautifully hypnotic!
I think those 63 dislikes are a mistake
Am I wrong People, Am I wrong?
I know im not dumb
Amanda Smith Sorry. I got rid of comment. I didn't mean to be rude.and your not wrong.
It's ok and you weren't being rude :3
Amanda Smith no of course not
Open 3 tabs and play 10 secs apart. GORGEOUS
Ooh i love this, nice folk-ish sounds in there :)
You actually leave me speechless every single time, this is truly beautiful.
That is one of the most beautiful songs and renditions of this... I go to sleep with this nightly.
I never post comments, but you deserve it.
Trinity
I love your version of this song it's sounds very Irish/Celtic 😊 you are very talented... you should try to get famous or something..........😄your amazing!!!!!!!😤😤😤😤😤
Anyone returning to this series of covers after ’the ballad of songbirds and snakes’?
I love this cover so much better than the movie version of it
This just randomly popped into my head. Can't believe it's been 12 years!
I just got chills....
we watched the hunger games at school, and all our teachers cried when rue died :'( And apparently, applauding Clove's death is inappropriate. :-P
+Pallad Eclipse omg same!
+Pallad Eclipse same my school banned everything off their Internet except Google
Wow. That's like my high school this year lol. The amazing world of south Auckland is so much more... intense XD I miss that school and all the movies :3
***** Lol XD
***** Sad! We aren't supposed to but everyone does anyway lol. When someone tells you not to do something it makes you want to do it more... Or so my rebellious friend says XD
It's my favorite version of Rue's lullaby!
Rue was my fav character in hunger games 😭
YesILikeTØP Hehehe 0
This is the best version of this song! It's so beautiful and your voice is amazing!
Oh God I love your works
Is it weird that I listen to this while horse riding? Also great adaptation, you are immensely talented!
TheCavalry I ride horses when I’m at my moms and I’ll be playing this as well, nice to know I’m not alone. :)
She is so much better then most pop singers, she should be famous!😉
I wish they would of added this song in the movie it's so beautiful
This is amazing! And in all honesty, your cover is closer to how I imagined the song to be sung in my head.. I'm still shocked I actually found someone who sung it almost perfectly close to how I thought it should sound.. AMAZING!
Its funny and really lovely to hear so many people on youtube using your arrangement as what they think rues lullaby should sound like
We watched Hunger Games (The first one) today in English Class to see how the movie portrays Katniss, Rue and Peeta as we are learning how to compare how they are portrayed in the book and movie, and when it got to the bit where Katniss was singing to Rue when she was dying, all the girls in my class where crying except me. I'm really cold hearted. :D
did ya read the books cuz if you haven't … GO FREAKING READ THEM NOOOOOOWWWWWW :3
To this day I wish it had been Marvel that was ripped apart slowly by mutations. He killed Rue, she was just a little girl. The worst part was that Rue didn't even sob knowing that she was dying, she shed a few tears, said her goodbye, and let Katniss sing her to heaven. Rest In Peace my adorable little buttercup.
You deserve more subscribers :)
I listened once through, listened half way through it again and I was out cold. thank you! I have been having trouble sleeping lately and maybe listening to this will help...
I was just reading The Hunger Games as soon as I got to this part I turned on this song and it was so beautiful, listening to your voice and reading the words between pauses.
OMG WHAT ARE THE NOTES FOR THE PIANO?!!!!!!!!!!??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They all deserve lullabies... :(
Much better than the film version. Then again, that film was a disgrace to the novels.
Cream-Tea-And-Sandwiches, finally someone says something about it. My friends haven’t read the books and think the movies are accurate.😣
ugh I hate it when people do that and also the one from the films was similar also... pjo movies were waaaayyy worse so be glad the hunger games weren't as bad as the pjo movies
Cream-Tea-And-Sandwiches the hunger games movie was a lot like the books. Your not giving them enough credit I've seen movies based off of books that were barely like the books at all
Cream-Tea-And-Sandwiches at least they weren’t like Percy Jackson...
The vocals are breath taking
This was the first cover I listened to on your channel. I've been inspired by you ever since. Thank you. :)
Am I the only one who feels that the people who watched Catching Fire but didn't read the book won't get the movie because all the details were not there therefore making the whole President snow drinking blood and all the other stuff that makes others confused? Idk I'm wondering if anyone who didn't read the book understood the movie.
I am a fellow hunger games fan. I feel welcome.
As do I, fellow fan.
As do I. ^_^
Dont we All
Deep in the meadow, under the surface
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay and rest your wounds and i will light your way
and as your eyes do open, i see that murderess gleam
(not singing)flowey: you heal my wounds knowing im a murderer? you naive idiot.
Here it's safe, and here it's warm
Here i will guard you from all harm
tonight your dreams are sweet but tomorrow brings your doom
so please dont run, your time is soon
Deep in the meadow, hidden underground
A cloak of care, chokes that sovern sound
Forget your wounded heart and let your troubles lay
find your soul as i know you have one
Here it's safe, and here it's warm
Here i will guard you from all harm
oh how i wish that i could stay
bearer of great powers, that you are...
a better way, a brighter heart
i could show you this lightend way
as i cannot leave you, no matter what i say
here is the the place, were i will care for you
am i the only one who likes flowey in undertale? sure hes a duche alot, but he never really had a soul so... that was my undertale version, someone is takeing care of flowey (i couldent find any good names ok) (at the end of pacfist ending, where flowey runs away) (i ran out of lines for lyrics so i added another one, i follows the same melody as the other ones) here are some explanations for weird lines. "bearer of great powers, that you are" means flowey is a formidable adversary in battle (ya'know for a flower) "tonight your dreams are sweet but tomorrow brings your doom" whoever is taking care of flowey has to leave tomorrow, and everybody is out for his blood (nice move flowey, making everyone hate you, also, do flowers have blood? idk)
+Hester Franks I want someone to make a video singing this version
Frisk The Pacifist aww thx :3
Really?
+Hester Franks Finally I found someone else who likes Flowey!
Maggie Chippigie lol I'm lukewarm about goatkid, But Flowey was a fun character
I'm French, and when I've read the book and watched the movie, the song was in french... It's the first time I hear it in English, and I find it beautiful. Thank you for allowing me to listen to this song :D
This is beautiful and the voice is so soulful.
i did cry... :) it was so sad... and good. :)
yeah it was so sad poor Rue
+adrisaurus may I do a cover of this? It's so beautiful and I've been wanting to cover it for a long time. I want to get your permission first. :3
It's not her song, it's Suzanne Collins. Do whatever you want with it lol
I love it , I'm just saying the lyrics are Suzanne's. :) Trust me, I haven't been able to stop listening to Adriana's music.
Of course, feel free! Thank you very much for the kind words! :)
Can I sing it too?
You don't have to ask them if you really want to ask someone for permission ask Suzanne Collins
you are amazing:(
I sang along your version of The hanging tree all day long
And this song just made me cry like a baby :((
Back from 9 months ago! I was in a really bad mood and really upset so I started singing this song and was instantly reminded of this. So beautiful.
thought of Lucy Gray when I heard this version
Im looking for a "Rue's Lullaby" that has the original tune. I can't find one. :(
Deep in the meadow lullaby by sting
May I use this as the end credits song for a video game I am making? I would be very grateful.
This brought me to tears omg I love this cover❤
This is a beautiful arrangement! Your voice is simply lovely, the music is perfect, and I can't stop listening to this. Thank you, so much, for sharing this wonderful piece of creativity and beauty!
I volunteer as tribute!
Lagu yang sangat merdu sekali enak ndengerinya
you all need to know what happens to prim. . .
I love this song! It makes me feel calm.
I normally do not comment or like, but you have gotten me to do just that. Just wanted to say your voice is purely beautiful!
