    how come it overblows C - G, a fifth, and then overblows G - C, a fourth?
I must have it figured all wrong. I was thinking (no keys down) C overblowing to G means it overblows a fifth.
So, I thought, it will now go G - D. So I figured that next C must be one tone down from the D it will blow to.
So the fingering would be 1 - - . i.e. Key 1 down meaning two semitones lower from the overblown note. D. So finish with C.
But I see here that C (which I, a total beginner, am chasing) is simply an overblow of G.
So that we blow C,G,C without any keys.
Okay. I believe it. I know it's right. I have the fingering charts.
So I must have the wrong idea. Is there any way to explain it simply to me?
I see that from that first overblown G we move two semitones up to the get the G# but from there on up it faithfully follows, one semitone shortening of the tube length = one semitone up.
You know what I mean by 'the tube length' of course, I hope I've got that idea right. Key 2 lengthens the tube by 1 semitone. Key 1 by two and Key 3 by three is what I mean.
Apparently this is not longer true after the first overblow: G. At least, not between G and G#. But after then until we reach C at least it IS true!
What's going on? Would be good to know I think.

Yes it is true. The trumpet is an cerebral instrument. 3 buttons can be misleading to unlock limitless possibilities to this instrument. Octave and different notes can be achieved through airflow, air pressure, etc. For instance, open keys up ⬆️ Unlocks the ability to play technical C, G,C,E,G,C etc. In that order through simply the velocity plus lip embouchure which in most cases to be successful, one would need to develop two muscles 💪, the diaphragm and the lip and facial muscles to achieve pitch fluidity between note to note. I hope that helped. Good Luck 🍀
