They are one of my favorite bands as well. Got to see them in Bismarck, and it was the most disappointing concert I'd ever seen.
Not on them. FFDP was the headliner and White Chapel, Emmure, God Forbid, and Killswitch Engage all took too long on their sets.
Trivium was the band I came to see and they only had time for 6 songs.

Absolutely can second this. "Down from the Sky" is the closest to a radio song Trivium has. The chorus is catchy and melodic and beautiful, the verses are very pop rock with just vocals and drums for a few bars per verse, the screams are fkin brutal when they come to up, and if you like the lyrics then hey the words will get to you and make you questioning yourself and others. In my opinion it is THE Trivium song, but I also have other songs that also tie for the title that are all around their catalogue.
Some others are "Throes of Perdition", "Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis", "What the Dead Men Say", "The Ravenchist", "Forsake Not The Dream", "Built to Fall", "Through Blood and Dirt and Bone", and a few more that really exemplify just how many good songs these guys have that can just as easily help you understand and analyse Matt's voice.

Matt's vocal journey is a wild one. From extreme vocals (several albums) to the point where they almost had to quit (he blew his voice on stage and they had to cancel the rest of the tour) and then working his way back, including a whole album without screams on it. You know... I've listened to trivium for so long. I began my journey into metal and its sub genres after a friend let me borrow his In Flames CD during math class in 7th grade. I was never into Metallica and the other well known, heavily repeated mainstream bands.
Elizabeth, your videos are very fun to watch, and I regularly learn more about the bands and their styles when they are featured in your videos. I've never understood why some of them are so deeply rooted in my heart, life, and memories. I could never put my finger on what made them so unique and special to me. You find a way to explain what resonates within me when I listen to them. So thank you.
I haven't seen you so one of their songs, yet... but I discovered a band about 8 years ago called Miss May I. My wife has never been into my music taste... but we saw went to a show about 2 or so years ago in Seattle at the El Corazon... it was All That Remains fall of ideals anniversary tour. I've loved all that remains for over 15 years at that point, and Miss May I played their set just before them. My wife had never been to a metal show, and had heard stories about the pit... she was scared before the show. Miss May I played I.H.E. and my wife jumped into the pit... i of course went in with her, and the look of absolute joy on her face as she lost control is permanently seared into my mind, and always brings tears to my eyes. Since then, we have gone to a metal show once every couple months... she loves it, now and claims it is an outlet for her. I'm happy she's with me and gets it, now.
If you could feature one of their songs, I would absolutely relish the video. I recommend I.H.E., Echoes, Tangled Tongues, Porcelain Wings, Forgive and Forget, or Unconquered... but really any of their songs are great in my opinion.
Than you for the video. You are amazing.

Fun fact about Matt when he joined trivium in the beginning, he was only supposed to be a guitarist. When the lead vocalist quit, he was picked by the band to sing. Prior to that he had never sang before in his life, and he has had to develop himself not only with his screaming, but with his singing, and I don’t think he ever really took lessons until later in life , it’s pretty astounding from what he’s accomplished.

Yess! Trivium. They have been my favorite band since about 2010. I went to one of their shows, and near the start of their set, the power to the stage lighting and sound went out.
Instead of being sour or leaving, Matt stayed on stage until the sound got fixed and just chatted with the crowd for about 30 minutes, then they finished their set without their stage lighting. Made me fall completely in love with Trivium , also the music just slaps.

I can’t imagine the pressure of opening for a band like Maiden and they did it with professionalism and class, and had me engaged from the first note.

Its great that you are checking out Trivium! Love 'em! Matt's voice is quite unique. He blew it up like ten years ago because of bad screaming technique. Since then he's been working on his vocals a lot, vocal coach and stuff. Now he can keep screaming almost like he used to, but his cleans improved a lot. This is a more comercial song, but their heavy stuff is great! I hope you can react to The Shadow of the Abbatoir, Shogun, In Waves maybe, there are a lot of awesome songs!

I've got goosebumps all over. There is so many perfect songs from Trivium which just blow my mind no matter how many times I listen to them. Matt just has that voice where he brings enough sort of rage, aggression but also maybe even desperation to the table? I don't know how to describe it well. Knowing that Matt is a nerd just brings the music to another level for some reason. I would have loved to have this song and also Vengeance Falls or Villainy Thrives in one reaction video.

Trivium has become my favorite band over the past few years. Since they started so young they have 10 albums and are still going as strong as ever. Also Alex is the best metal drummer around right now. Any of the 3 most recent albums, Ascendancy, Shogun, and In Waves are my favorites. They're also great live, I saw them with 3 other great bands and they were the best live out of all of them, which is mainly how they won me over. Matt is the hardest working dude in metal. Trivium is one of the most underrated bands of this generation so I’m happy you found your way to it! I would love to see Matt on a Tea Time Interview 😬. Trivium is one of the most technically impressive bands I’ve ever seen live, and every album is a straight banger. Matt had damaged his voice in earlier years, but has been able to correct it. This is an amazing journey, and I can’t wait to watch it happen. If you want heavier, Court of the Dragon and The Phalanx. If you want something similar to this, Strife and The Sin and the Sentence. And if you want more mellow, Silence in the Snow. I’d also recommend watching their “Live from the Hanger” videos. You’ll get to see Matt and the boys work their magic live 😁

Thank you for listening to Trivium. I knew it would gain traction if it were one of the bands featured. My eldest turned me on to Trivium years ago with Shogun, Down From the Sky, and Suffocating Sight, and I have been hooked on them since. He played several of their songs and modeled some of his guitar style from them. Unfortunately I lost my son in 2016 after his 2nd battle with cancer. So Trivium is very near and dear to me and so is (Brave This Storm). I definitely would think @Matt Heafy would do an interview. Very down to earth guy that delves into everything from music, gaming, Brazilian Ju Jitsu. Matt has also done an acoustic set at Full Sail University!

Matt's vocals and how they've progressed from the early demos when he was 13/14 to now is nothing short of phenomenal. With the various sources of inspiration ranging from your extreme metal on his screams, to the theatrical vocal flair Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden he adds in. He really sticks out amongst the crowd to me at least. A few songs I'd strongly suggest checking out if you're wanting to dive further into the Trivium rabbit hole would be.
