This is Grandma from Texas. I have been a Christian for over half a century. I can not count the times and renditions of this beautiful old hymn I have heard. Something in my soul tells me that this rendition by Dan Vasc is the way Amazing Grace SHOULD be sung. It is by far the best I have ever heard. Dan turned it into an anthem,,,maybe Heavens Anthem. I can imagine that all of Heaven stopped to listen when this metal singer lifted his voice to proclaim the Amazing Grace of God. Thank you for your reaction.

Dan put the song out on Easter. He is a Christian, & I believe God has anointed him with his beautiful voice to give him glory. But Dan sings mainly metal songs, & he loves doing covers of the 80's rocknroll songs, some Disney movie songs like in Mulan. He sings other beautiful Christian songs too. For All is beautiful, & he speaks of his faith after the song. You will be amazed how talented he is.

He has stated he is a Christian and put this out in time for Easter. This is the best version I will ever hear. I have become appreciative of metal music because of this rendition of this song and this artist. This man has the voice of an archangel. Who knew angels in Heaven sang metal? He has well over 200 videos out there covering a broad range of genres usually gilding songs with metal to their improvement.

I'm a lifelong (nearly 74-year-old) Christian and a musician and singer, myself. I haven't always loved metal, per se (because of the harmonics that I can hear, that a lot of people can't), but I can tell you that Christian metal has been around at least since my two oldest children were in their young teens (in the mid-80s and onward). Right off hand, I can name two bands: Petra, and Stryper. You can still find both of those on TH-cam. My oldest son loves metal, and he started with Stryper. I'll refrain from adding a long list of songs that Dan sings, because I've already seen down through the earlier comments, that you've probably seen just about everything I would have mentioned. I hope you enjoy the extended and convoluted rabbit hole that is Dan Vasc's TH-cam channel. I could listen to him 24 hours a day, if I had the time. The harmonics HE produces just melt inside my head, into beauty. By the way...I'm also a TH-camr, though I don't make my videos for profit. This channel (Grandma's Got Grace) is my faith/grace-based channel, where I read aloud the articles I write on my own site (not YT). My other channel is Grandma's Gone Gaming. I don't currently play a LOT of games, but over the years since Atari introduced itself, I HAVE played a lot of different ones. Right now I'm putting more of my time into this channel. Dan is totally a TH-camr. At one point, he did want a recording contract, but he's said that he loves how he's making music now because he's accountable to only us, his audience, and that he is making a better living without a label than he would on a label. Check out his The Last Journey Home Ten Year Anniversary cover by him and watch the entire outro ; he does a better job explaining his career than any of us ever could. Keep the Dan reactions coming; his older songs or his newer ones doesn't matter because they're all great!
Love your reaction - just like I felt when I first heard this. Also love your insight into metal singers. Many have extensive training and can do amazing things with their voices. You can tell from Dan's superb breath control and phrasing plus his posture that he has trained and worked for years to sing like this. I love his cover of Journey's "Don't stop believing' originally sung by the incredible Steve Perry. Also worth checking out Dan's 'Pour some sugar on me.' He has such a huge range of material 😊.

The extensive vocal training Dan Vasc has had shows here not only in his vocal abilities, but in other ways as well. His straight stance, square shoulders, raised sternum…all excellent. Physically, they allow him to reach for the power of the music without strain. ‘Triumphant’ is the way this feels to me! Just as Disturbed’s version of ‘Sound of Silence’ forever altered my perception of an iconic classic, Dan Vasc has redefined and clarified my all-time favorite hymn. It’s as if this is the way ‘Amazing Grace’ was always meant to be sung!

There are so many great ones, but I suggest Angels We Have Heard on High, Nessun Dorma, and Toss a Coin to Your Witcher. I almost hate to list any suggestions, because it will exclude so many other great songs. My personal Dan playlist has 28 songs so far.
Excellent reaction. I've seen so many of these (ever since Dan released this video) that I feel I can authentically say yours is in the top tier. Dan is a TH-cam artist with over 200 videos. Toss a Coin to Your Witcher and Burn, Butcher, Burn are 2 great songs. He does folk songs, in Scarborough Fair he sings 3 part harmony with himself. He sings show tunes, Phantom of the Opera. Disney, I’ll Make a Man Out of You from Mulan is incredible. Opera Nessun Dorma is even better than Pavarotti. His range is 3 or 4 octaves. In One Man Choir…Handel’s Hallelujah, he sings all 4 parts in 24 voices. You have to see it to believe it. I’m looking forward to more reactions from you!

Dan is classically trained and can sing everything from metal to broadway musicals to opera. He is a TH-camr by choice and the 230+ covers on his channel are just that, covers. He does have his own metal band called Fearless. You mentioned the Sound of Silence…..that was Disturbed with frontman David Draiman. David was trained as a Cantor as a young man and to this day still takes voice lessons. While I love Disturbeds cover of Sound of Silence, Dan also covers the song and does a phenomenal job.

This is a Hymn that not only means so much to me as a devout Catholic but as a recovering alcoholic in AA. In my area, this hymn means a lot to us in AA (whether a person is religious or not), it is the message of redemption conveyed. I live down the block from a beautiful predominantly Irish/Catholic Church and we often hear bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace", I don't think that Dan meant to add a Celtic sprinkle by using the harmonica that was reportedly given to him by his beloved late dad when he was a boy. Nonetheless it was brilliant, as is the entire delivery. I am 62 years "young" and this WILL be played when The Lord calls me home. It brings my love of the Lord and my love of Metal together. If you liked tthis fusion of metal and gospel you should listen to his “Angels We Have Heard On High” and Adeste Fidelis” (Oh Come All Ye Faithful). You might also like his Loch Lomond acoustic version. His ability to sing virtually anything is mind blowing.

I could definitely listen to this version over & over…and I’ve never been a Catholic.
I'm a lifelong (nearly 74-year-old) Christian and a musician and singer, myself. I haven't always loved metal, per se (because of the harmonics that I can hear, that a lot of people can't), but I can tell you that Christian metal has been around at least since my two oldest children were in their young teens (in the mid-80s and onward). Right off hand, I can name two bands: Petra, and Stryper. You can still find both of those on TH-cam. My oldest son loves metal, and he started with Stryper. I'll refrain from adding a long list of songs that Dan sings, because I've already seen down through the earlier comments, that you've probably seen just about everything I would have mentioned. I hope you enjoy the extended and convoluted rabbit hole that is Dan Vasc's TH-cam channel. I could listen to him 24 hours a day, if I had the time. The harmonics HE produces just melt inside my head, into beauty. By the way...I'm also a TH-camr, though I don't make my videos for profit. This channel (Grandma's Got Grace) is my faith/grace-based channel, where I read aloud the articles I write on my own site (not YT). My other channel is Grandma's Gone Gaming. I don't currently play a LOT of games, but over the years since Atari introduced itself, I HAVE played a lot of different ones. Right now I'm putting more of my time into this channel. Anyway...thank you for the good reaction to Dan's version of "Amazing Grace." 😀

Dan is totally a TH-camr. At one point, he did want a recording contract, but he's said that he loves how he's making music now because he's accountable to only us, his audience, and that he is making a better living without a label than he would on a label. Check out his The Last Journey Home Ten Year Anniversary cover by him and watch the entire outro ; he does a better job explaining his career than any of us ever could. Keep the Dan reactions coming; his older songs or his newer ones doesn't matter because they're all great!
Love your reaction - just like I felt when I first heard this. Also love your insight into metal singers. Many have extensive training and can do amazing things with their voices. You can tell from Dan's superb breath control and phrasing plus his posture that he has trained and worked for years to sing like this. I love his cover of Journey's "Don't stop believing' originally sung by the incredible Steve Perry. Also worth checking out Dan's 'Pour some sugar on me.' He has such a huge range of material 😊.

The extensive vocal training Dan Vasc has had shows here not only in his vocal abilities, but in other ways as well. His straight stance, square shoulders, raised sternum…all excellent. Physically, they allow him to reach for the power of the music without strain. ‘Triumphant’ is the way this feels to me! Just as Disturbed’s version of ‘Sound of Silence’ forever altered my perception of an iconic classic, Dan Vasc has redefined and clarified my all-time favorite hymn. It’s as if this is the way ‘Amazing Grace’ was always meant to be sung!

I wholeheartedly agree with you, this did definitely feel triumphant and I also agree that this subverted my preconceptions and expectations of what could be done with this classic, that’s true music. Thank you for this! A reaction like yours, which brings intelligent commentary combined with genuine emotion, is the absolute best kind. Please do more Dan reactions. There are so many great ones, but I suggest Angels We Have Heard on High, Nessun Dorma, and Toss a Coin to Your Witcher. I almost hate to list any suggestions, because it will exclude so many other great songs. My personal Dan playlist has 28 songs so far.
Excellent reaction. I've seen so many of these (ever since Dan released this video) that I feel I can authentically say yours is in the top tier. I'm not saying this because you like the video, but because you did a great job of expressing your feelings as well as having both good video and audio (you'd be surprised how many reactors have neither). Also, you put a link to the original video--which is what all reactors should do, but many don't. Keep up the good work! There’s lots of Christian metal bands, some good some not so good, but it’s great to see artists that aren’t public with their ‘religious’ views taking these types of songs and respecting them but also making them SO much better!! Great reaction to a fantastic song!

Dan has expressed his religious beliefs often. He is a Christian and released this video for Easter. He has definitely been blessed with an amazing, beautiful voice! He sings all kinds of music. His goal is to have 1M subscribers! He's almost there!!
And, of course, there are many metal bands that are not outright christian, but sign with passion and love (and frustration and sorrow, when appropriate) about righting the wrongs, praising the good, and trying to lessen the hurt in the world.

I loved your reaction. Dan is amazing. He sings every genre. The Sound of Silence you are thinking of is by David Draiman and the band Disturbed. Dan has covered that in an awesome way. Dan is a TH-cam artist with over 200 videos. Toss a Coin to Your Witcher and Burn, Butcher, Burn are 2 great songs. He does folk songs, in Scarborough Fair he sings 3 part harmony with himself. He sings show tunes, Phantom of the Opera. Disney, I’ll Make a Man Out of You from Mulan is incredible. Opera Nessun Dorma is even better than Pavarotti. His range is 3 or 4 octaves. In One Man Choir…Handel’s Hallelujah, he sings all 4 parts in 24 voices. You have to see it to believe it. I’m looking forward to more reactions from you!

Yes, you’re right, thank you… that was bugging me trying to think of who it was haha. I’ve seen others say Dan has covered that one, I need to check that one out since I’ll be able to gauge better where Dan’s level is and also since I loved that other cover so much. I’m a huge Witcher fan and the “Toss a coin to your Witcher” got stuck in my head for far too long… I’m sure after hearing it again the same will happen hahaha.

Dan is classically trained and can sing everything from metal to broadway musicals to opera. He is a TH-camr by choice and the 230+ covers on his channel are just that, covers. He does have his own metal band called Fearless. You mentioned the Sound of Silence…..that was Disturbed with frontman David Draiman. David was trained as a Cantor as a young man and to this day still takes voice lessons. While I love Disturbeds cover of Sound of Silence, Dan also covers the song and does a phenomenal job.

No need to apologise. Of course his voice is first rate but, Dan has spent a lot of efforts practicing. However, I believe he puts all his energy, virility and passion when singing. And above to all of that fantastic performance, he’s simply honest and clear as crystal
This is a Hymn that not only means so much to me as a devout Catholic but as a recovering alcoholic in AA. In my area, this hymn means a lot to us in AA (whether a person is religious or not), it is the message of redemption conveyed. I live down the block from a beautiful predominantly Irish/Catholic Church and we often hear bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace", I don't think that Dan meant to add a Celtic sprinkle by using the harmonica that was reportedly given to him by his beloved late dad when he was a boy. Nonetheless it was brilliant, as is the entire delivery. I am 62 years "young" and this WILL be played when The Lord calls me home. It brings my love of the Lord and my love of Metal together.
