    Thank you for showing us your Altum feeding .
    Are your Brine Shrimps enriched with fatty acids. If not, try to buy "Golden Lake" Artemia.
    Imho most important Altum food are white ML; MYSIS, Krill and shrimps. Algae/Veggieflakes are important too.

      Thanks! I don't currently have any Altums

    I’m glad to see that my Altum are not the only ones that don’t tend to eat out of the water column and go after the food off the bottom of the tank. I have been concerned as I am new to these fish.

    Do you feed your apistogrammas the same? I’m looking forward to breeding my pair, I also have a baby angelfish so definitely gonna pick up those brine shrimp tomorrow. Thank you!

    I'm assuming that when you've introduced the angels they were all the same size, right? Do you normally have a dominant male growing much faster than the other fishes? Is that due to it catching more food than the other ones since the beginning? I remember when I had my last batch of angels years ago that happened in my planted tank. It was so hard for the smaller ones to get any food at all as they grew. Any tips on that? I left a comment on the other video about the poor nutrition value of adult brine shrimp. The nauplii (baby brine shrimp) is much stronger with lipids and fatty acids, naturally in the first 24 hours after born. Not sure frozen baby brine shrimp would hold up it's nutritional values as live ones. Normally the live adult brine shrimp can be enriched with vitamins, algae and other important nutrients. The frozen brine shrimp comes with what ever they had from their production, but the main problem is that most of them become basically empty shells after the ice destroying their bodies. I'm leaving the comment here too to contribute with the info. There is a product by Ocean Nutrition called "Instant Baby Brine Shrimp" in a bottle. I've never tried yet, but will when I get my angels next time. Feeding is so important! Thank you so much for all the help!!

      Thanks for info on brine shrimp, its very helpful! Altums are more docile and peaceful than p.scalare so they won't harm smaller fish, and there isn't much of a competition for food. I haven't noticed males to be more aggressive, and it is nearly impossible to sex them unless you have a confirmed breeding pair.

    Nice Altums. What type of filter are you using on that tank?

    That's so cool video and very informative. I love angelfish feeding.
    Which filter system you are using for this tank ? I saw only hang on back filter only.

    Any recommendations on how to train altums to eat dry food? Mine show little interest in vibra bites and some have eaten freeze dried shrimp, but their main diet is frozen.

    • @tropicalfishhub
      @tropicalfishhub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try feeding less frozen and supplement it with dry food, after a week or so they'll be hungrier and more interested in dry. I'd suggest trying that from 5 months, because smaller Altums might get stunted if they don't get enough food.

      @@tropicalfishhub thanks. Will give it a shot. They're curious and they taste the food. Sometimes they eat it but most of the time they'll spit it out. Will see how it goes 💪🏽

    My angelfish bred the other day in my tank. They are young and I'm not interested in breeding them also the male ate the eggs

    • @tropicalfishhub
      @tropicalfishhub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If these are not wild caught angels they might have weak parental instincts so they'll keep on eating eggs

    • @dramaticexperiment144
      @dramaticexperiment144 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tropicalfishhub I dont mine them eating the eggs, I don't want to breed them at all
