  • Advice welcomed! Time for excuses, this was the first time I drove this persons kart. It didn't fit me the best. I was also on hard tires, and theirs an issue with the brakes. I was 1 second faster on another kart earlier in the day. Other than that go for it. Let me hear it.

    Not bad! One thing is to downshift quicker and earlier. Downshifting later reduces engine braking and makes it so you have less arm strength to turn around the corner because one arm is off the wheel or partially on it.

    As much fun as it looks it also looks really difficult to shift down and get the kart turned in time for apex

  • @Leo099
    @Leo099 ปีที่แล้ว

    A little tip if you still drive switches at all... This oversteer, which you sometimes have, or a very tight steering wheel in the curve, is caused by the fact that there is too much pressure on the front brakes, so you have to shift the brake load further back

  • @westonwilkerson5942
    @westonwilkerson5942 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nosing over quite early. Sounds like a stock rok and jetted fat as well. It drives much smoother when properly tuned. And welcome to the vortex gearbox lol. I observed some accelerator hop, try more pedal spring. And most tag drivers arent aggressive on the brakes enough intitially when they go to a shifter.

    • @NorbergNation
      @NorbergNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What do you think about the x30 super?
    I drove TM and Modena shifter karts. But i drive only 5-6 times a year. So for me it was no fun to drive on the limit. I bought a new x30 super with a new KZ CRG chassis. Do you think this was a good decision? i hope the difference is not so big… sry for my bad english. I am german:)

    • @NorbergNation

      Always focus on the exit of the corner. The track has so many hairpins that if you don't focus on getting a good exit you'll lose a lot of time.

    @KartDad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good on you for getting some laps, and posting the video even though it's not pretty. Tough to provide meaningful advice when you're driving a kart that is obviously not completely sorted and optimized for you. That said, there are two things that you can apply regardless:
    1) Get more comfortable driving one-handed. Especially at a track like Orlando you're going to have to make shifts (in both directions) while turning.
    2) Develop a system for better managing gear selection. This will of course come naturally with time, but find a system that works for you so you can stay more consistent with gear selection throughout the lap.

      KZ requires a lot more maintenance, absolutely chew through tyres and they're about $5-6000 more expensive in Australia.

    • @flyingphoenix113
      @flyingphoenix113 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rotax Senior/X30 is definitely cheaper to maintain than any shifter class. I'm curious to where you live/race that they would be even close to parity in cost, because in most parts of the world, shifters are literally twice as expensive to campaign (over a season)

    maybe try to be smoother on the first touch of the brake and set the brake balance to an extreme front setting to practise if its way too much and you keep locking up like at 1:46 you can always change it on track, you cant brake anywhere near as hard as you can with rear only karts (sidenote, this track doesnt look like it has a lot of grip and kommet red doesnt help either, any of the yellows are going to be much better and maybe mg green or lecont)

    What's the difference between a KZ and a Shifter? I always wondered...🤔

    • @aviandooley3466
      @aviandooley3466 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      KZ is a class of shifter kart, they tend to have 50-55hp. This is a ROK shifter with less power and less reliability

    • @alexfernandez6
      @alexfernandez6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aviandooley3466 I thought "Shifter" was an other class. My bad.
      So yeah, i wanted to say that, the Rok you say.
      Less power and reliability. Something to take positive from the Rok shifter against the Kz?
      Thanks!

    • @aviandooley3466
      @aviandooley3466 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Fernandez yeah, don’t really quote me on it. Ive just been told that the ROK has less reliability. I do know it has less power compared to the KZ. It’s also less popular. Where I race, we run open shifter so you can use any type of shifter kart that is governed. The KZ karts are usually the only fast ones and the Honda and ROK are farther behind
