I already planted my strawberries. But I centered them in the pot about a week ago. It would be a bad idea to move them now right? How bout if I tied them up would that be okay, or is that a bad idea. Or should I just mulch them and leave it be
@@tinocontreras5105 Hey Tino, I would just mulch them and leave them and see the growth pattern and how it fills out the pot. You can move them when they are large and established, no worries there.
I read in a gardening magazine and also saw on the Epic Gardening channel that for everbearing strawberries, you pick the flowers off until early June. That gives the leaves more time to grow and develop, which helps produce more and larger strawberries for two harvestings after that. Your thoughts about this, please.

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms staple crop for me is always tomatoes. Burpee had a 3 plant mix and max option this year, so I went with a cherry tomato variety, beefsteak, and a plum tomato. It has been a few years since one grown, but I think 2021 (may have been 2020), I did a bunch of cucumber, tomato, and chili pepper varieties all in pots and had great success. I think after this year I'm finally going to build some raised beds like I've been talking about for the last 5+ years lol

I was thinking of trying to grow some strawberries and cherry tomatoes this spring. Just a couple of pots since I have a very small balcony. This video was very helpful.

Bought my little girls strawberries plants yesterday,, I think the pots will work perfectly for them since the last ones where damages by their chickens,,
I’ve got a plant already somewhat grown at big bear & brought it here to Bakersfield. The leaves look dried , not sure if it’s cause my dog sat on the vines & bent them some type of way or I’m just not watering it enough or the heat. It did bloom one flower bud today but she does seem happier inside than the outside heat

I am planning on growing strawberries this year. Well I might have to wait till next year for fruit to grow but at least I will have it started. I am in the process of finding a planting plot for them. I am deciding on what kind of bed I want to use Either classic flat bed, mounds, or even might try pots cause one no weeds, easy to move them if I have to, also I could make a anti bird cage to cover the strawberries so the birds wont get to them but I can easily lift the cage for harvesting. We also have blueberries bushes that have been producing for a few years now so having fresh blueberries with strawberries would be a dream. For me if I had the choice between candy and fresh ripe fruit I would pick fruit 100%. Anyways thank you for the video vary informative.
Right on! I say go both. If you start now, you might still get runners which you can plant up into various pots and containers! Strawberries everywhere!

@@jman4083 they can... But strawberries tend to grow upright and get their leaves off the ground. I've never had a problem with it. Give it a try though... I know people who swear by mounding!

Oh dang, that's terrible! I would go with a natural (castile) soap solution, vegetable oil, and water. Table spoon of each of the soap and oil in a liter of water and spray the whole plant every 2 days. Won't harm the fruit, won't harm you!
I just got Fort Laramie Everbearing Strawberry bare root plants about 20 of them. I washed them prepped them etc.. and planted them in different ways and use berry fertilizer while others i used fish emulsion kind of like a science experiment lol. I’m worried they won’t grow because I live in south Florida which is a tropical zone like zone 10a. I just planted them now in August in a tier potting system I have. Do you recommend I use a shade cover while they are under the sun and how often should I water. Lately, it’s been around 85-90f degrees.
Yeah, 90F is getting up there... Definitely make sure they are kept moist. If someone was selling them locally, they definitely grow there, so you should be ok.
I'm camping out on your channel today. This is required television, everyone! I have four starters and Miracle-Gro starting mix. What else should I put in the soil for planting?
It all depends. If you want fruit this year, leave them on. If you're building the plant up for a larger production next year, you can cut them off, but whether or not you'll come out ahead in the long run for total production is anyone's guess. :)
Good day i have germinate some strawberries its now 8 weeks old it seems to be growing very slow just 1/2 inch height, some of it died. Does it need watering everyday? I place it in a shaded area temp here in Cyprus in mid day goes above 30C degrees. Can you please give me advice
Hey Carmen.....definitely do not water every day! No plant wants water every day unless its an aquatic plant! That much watering will the plants. Once a week max.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms i did not water them for a day and it all dried out, leaves turn yellow then after 3days went brown. They all died :( The chili and tomato started to withered also, so i water them everyday. Will just try to germinate strawberry again.
I assumed putting mulch is only necessary if its winter/cold weather. Could you clarify that for me please? This is my first time growing strawberries and i really want it as right as possible. Thankssss!
Hey Dude! Great display...I don't have time to review in case I missed it. Do the container berries fill the pot quickly? Do we have to divide them in a couple of seasons? Or are they to be left alone in their pots to live out their life-span for a couple years?
Hey Kris, all depends on the size of the pot. I have some that I can leave for 4 seasons..others just get way too crammed in there and require breaking up and dividing after just 2 season.

I always pre moisten soil first when planting so I don't have to water. Reduces transplant shock root loss.

No, never bring strawberries inside.... They need the dormancy period.

Hey Alina...ALL containers have drainage holes. Standing water is a death sentence for all plants unless they are aquatic or seaweed! :-)

Yeah, 90F is getting up there... Definitely make sure they are kept moist. If someone was selling them locally, they definitely grow there, so you should be ok.

i recently got a starter strawberry plant from whole foods that had a few blooms on it. should i cut any flowers i find within the first year?
It all depends. If you want fruit this year, leave them on. If you're building the plant up for a larger production next year, you can cut them off, but whether or not you'll come out ahead in the long run for total production is anyone's guess. :)

I have 25 strawberry plants each in a 2gal grow bag and all are on a drip system. Question: what size dripper is best, 1 gal or 2gal each per week?
Good day i have germinate some strawberries its now 8 weeks old it seems to be growing very slow just 1/2 inch height, some of it died. Does it need watering everyday? I place it in a shaded area temp here in Cyprus in mid day goes above 30C degrees. Can you please give me advice
Hey Carmen.....definitely do not water every day! No plant wants water every day unless its an aquatic plant! That much watering will the plants. Once a week max.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms i did not water them for a day and it all dried out, leaves turn yellow then after 3days went brown. They all died :(
The chili and tomato started to withered also, so i water them everyday.

Hey Dude! Great display...I don't have time to review in case I missed it. Do the container berries fill the pot quickly? Do we have to divide them in a couple of seasons? Or are they to be left alone in their pots to live out their life-span for a couple years?
Hey Kris, all depends on the size of the pot. I have some that I can leave for 4 seasons..others just get way too crammed in there and require breaking up and dividing after just 2 season.
