Looking to grow your first vegetable garden? Or maybe you’ve given it a try in the past and didn’t enjoy the success you thought you would? Well, I designed a self-paced online gardening course just for you! 12 core chapters of a video-based program that will take you from complete beginner to garden master without having to sift through hours and hours of TH-cam content. Videos that barely contain the relevant information you need to get started focusing on garden tours and channel updates rather than useful insight.
With Vegetable Gardening Basics, we’ve changed all that and synthesized all the information I’ve learned over my 30 plus years of growing food down to all the key pieces of the puzzle to unlock your growing potential. Every basic skill, technique, tip, trick, you name it, its all here. A 150+ page high resolution PDF guidebook is also included to help reinforce and guide you along the way, making the learning and absorbing of the material even easier. Lifetime access is included, including any updates or extra content. The first batch of enrollment is now live, secure your spot today! courses.theripetomatofarms.ca/courses/vegetable-gardening-basics

I am a first year gardener this year...I've been teaching myself gardening, canning, freeze-drying, dehydrating...basically, overall self-reliance this past 5 years. I follow a lot of canning/gardening/homestead channels and I enjoy them all...but for real, when it comes to teaching...you are second to none! Thank you so much for sharing your skills with us. Your approach to teaching, breaking down the how's and why's is just wonderful. I never leave your videos with questions because you thoroughly cover everything. And for those of us without a lot of extra time to spend in front of a screen, you are as straight to the point as possible. Seriously, second to none. ~Kelly

That's so amazing of you to say, thank you! I love that you recognize the "straight to the point" approach because its something I'm really striving for Kelly. I get the entertainment value of a lot of other channels, and more power to them. I just want to pass on what knowledge I've accrued without all that other stuff. I won't get as many views because of it, but if I can create a library full of everything I've learned and will learn, that means a lot more in my opinion. Cheers! 🙂

Being super green in strawberry growing (just bought 2 varieties) I have learned the most out of this video and NEED more :D
Being an experienced grower hydroponically, i have cleaned rinced and sterilized my two pheno here! Hehe
I have two controlled environments currently set for vegetative growth and flowering.
I understand that im at different stage and may have multiple issues from this video.
Do you have any deeper dives videos about day-nutral and ever-bearing?
given my two grow environment I would like to be able to juste eat strawberries all the time when spending time in the gardens 😍
Can you give me any pointers?
Great job on the editing and scripts.

I totally agree! We have not had rain here in Florida, since December 2022, and 3 days ago, the skies opened up and we got 2.5 inches in 1 hour. Believe it or not, that much rain on sand, is not good. Dry sand is quite oily? Weird right? I think about 5-7 of my Strawbabies drowned. Maybe not, but they sure look dead to me. Anything I can do?

Another good way to propagate strawberry get a kiddie pool around 36 -48"inch make some 1/4" drain holes then locate a sunny spot fill with soil and make a mound in the middle plant 3-4 plants and watch tons of runners and will root on their own you can separate and plant as needed ✌️😁

Im actually going to attempt to grow strawberries in my closet in my big octopot self watering system under a strong full specrum grow light. I cant find anyone who has attempted strawberries this way even those who suggest not to grow inside haven’t even attempted it, so I’m gonna go for it being that it gets so much hotter each year then the last that all my outdoor plants tend to burn up before they can really do anything , and also because at this house and the house I lived in before I had started off the growing season, growing my own veggies, tomatoes , melons and such, only for them to get destroyed after all my work by insects like aphids or other crop my homework, killing insects. I figured the best way to avoid those pesty insects ruining all my hard work anymore is by growing my plants inside where they’re safe!

I grow alpine and musk strawberries from seed quite often. They are an exception to your hybrid rule. They also can bear fruit the first year of you start them mid January the plants will be healthy enough by spring to produce before. My hawaii white strawberries were actually producing fruit in the pots I started them in. I will however note, unless you just want to claim you grow strange strawberries, just buy your plants. It's far less painful.

Nice video. Beautiful looking strawbs. I'm strictly a container grower for everything due to a small backyard and woods behind the house. Too many animals that would (and some do) raid my bounty. Deer, raccoons, #!@$ groundhog, chipmunks, squirrels, possum, turkeys, fox, coyotes and fishers. I pack my planters with strawberry plants. I use everbearing plants, use composted manure every spring and lots of fert during the growing season. If the plants slow down they get replaced and a chance at a 2nd life in an open spot not too far into the woods.

@@babs3483 I have a wooden staircase in the back that goes to a door on the 2nd level. It has a platform at the top and shelves along the stairs. My biggest headache are chipmunks and an occasional possum that can climb up the frame of the stairs (stairs are blocked). All the containers sit on the shelves or on the platform.

I grow quite a few varieties in zone 5 with a matted grid system, basically oversized matted rows. Have harvested 1.5 gallons in the last 3 days as the first variety is ready. The Sequoia is one sweet berry. Planted Mara Du Bois the first time this spring, patiently awaiting to try them.

I would suggest that applying a top dressing of good, finished compost would take the place of bought concentrated NPK. just move the mulch aside, add a half inch of compost, water and replace the mulch. Pine needles hold up well as a strawberry mulch if you have them nearby. Thanks for all the valuable tips.

I was always told the pine needles are a heavy asudduk producer when breaking down over a. Of time composting. I don't understand strawberries LOL you have to guess have the perfect soil because I'm not having any luck getting any of my seeds to start, and plants are just too damn expensive right now.

@@r.a.w.r.news.t.v.2 Pine needles work for strawberries. The PH probably isn't that important in this case as the pine needles are processed by animalcule before they get to the strawberry's roots.

I love the close ups for my old eyes. I bought bare root strawberries the othe day and will plant them soon, so now I know what to do.
