Nice haul and great explanation for those of us who don't trap but, support you fur trappers 100%. It's cool when you're hanging out with 330 Maniac and together telling us what and why you do what you do. Good luck tomorrow and beyond.
Great one! You are a teacher, and it is much appreciated! I as someone who hasn't trapped before didn't know what you meant by dog proof. Looks like a similar style to what I have bought for the live trap smart Coons I have to put out sometimes. Trapping for the fur is just awesome to me and I love your site, that knowledge needs to be retained and I thank you for teaching it to others! I have gun hunt for most of my life but never knew your skill set and most of it crosses over in a lot of ways. I look have looked forward to your content every since I found your TH-cam site!
Another great video Stu with some excellent points about keeping the swivels freed up and the DP's from freezing in the ground. Awesome job. We've got 2' of snow on the ground and below freezing temps here so they're not moving around all that much
I would never have even thought to consider squirrels when looking at sign. I don't use traps small enough for them to set off but if I did they were never on my radar. Great video! So much info!!
Thanks for another great one .you really are the trapping teacher. You explain so well and always have great content and go into detail making it simple. Thank you for all the trapping knowledge you share great job stu
I wanted to say thank you for the tip on how to dispatch a skunk in this video !!! I caught my first skunk, in a Duke DP today and it worked perfectly !!!!
I'm not sure if anyone reads this but I'm trapping beaver for someone and bought the traps and made my sets similar to Stu and I have had success. Listen to this guy's advice. He is one of the few out there that gives solid information. I preaditor trap mostly and my area is a little different but there's still something I can think about and try.
If you want an easy anchor for coon trapping try the eye lags for acoustical ceilings. They screw in but they’re pretty long and they have deep threads and hold really well. I’ve held some big beavers in em as well. You can get a bit for your impact and run em in with that and if you have hands like mine eat up with arthritis it’s easier than swinging the hammer all the time.
What kind of bait do you use for your dog proof traps? You should make a video of you making you batches of bait. I bet a lot of people would like that. But nice videos thanks.
Dry cat food, black licorice cut into 1/4" chunks, cherry cool aid powder. Little juice from canned salmon enough to make the cool aid stick to everything.
I don't trap until after deer season in southern Michigan. My first year trapping my dog proofs froze in the ground and all my coons kept getting away. I wish I'd have known what you said back then. I don't catch many coon where I am in January. It normally picks up big in Feb and March.
I pulled all my traps early eyes need to get operations so im hoping to have fixed before the end of the the spring beaver trapping is over here in N.Y.
I’m brand new to trapping. Literally just got my license for the last 2 weeks of our season in Louisiana. I saw where you talked about rolling your tag on the chain. Can you give me a little better explanation of that, please.
Thanks for the videos! What organ or location is the target of the skunk to have them spray less often? I put away fur traps 30 years ago but still trap problem skunks and coon in the yard and the skunks spray more often that not.Id like to have better success.TIA.
Diamond Barrie Ontario Canada and right now there's all kinds of snow on the ground I'm just wondering if that will affect the boars running I haven't went and looked but I can tell you in the bush just got to be at least a foot of snow so I'm just wondering to go check out today J's Monday January 24th just to see if I see any tracks even
Talking by-catch.....had a mink set 2 years ago, duke 1 1/2 set in stream, underwater actually about 2 ft from the bank edge, got excited thinking i caught a mink only to find a drowned squirrel! Atleast i had a meal from it!
@jaydonpowell7468 I know this is old and all but seriously your asking the internet to tell you the laws and regulations where you live? You do realize of you follow the wrong advice that can result in fines, possible charges against you and loss of licensing right? Just call the game wardens and ask them. What is the deal with people these days? Too lazy to find out for yourself how to get a license but your going to get up early every morning and run a trap line? That doesn't make sense.
This has nothing to do with this video. But I just got certified to trap here in Maine today. Part of the class was videos that you made on skinning/fleshing/pinning a beaver. Thought you might think that was cool 👏🏻
Hey bro, Is it too late in the year to start trapping? Got land in west TN lots of coons and yotes. I'm an avid turkey hunter and noticed that my population is down. Checking my trail cams and see dozens of coons so I assume that it's possible for them to be responsible for population decline in my turkeys ... where do you suggest buying traps. Tia
Stu, 92 for 1 against. But these kind of guys can bring TH-cam down on you. Personally, I think you do a good job of keeping taking the critters on the less graphic side of your work. Always wonder where all the complainers think their burgers, steak, pork and bacon come from. I visited many chicken, meat and hide processors before retiring and your videos are Disney movies compared to the real world. Not a trapper but find the logic and method to your “madness” kind of fascinating. Watch all your vids but am a bigger fan of your barge dodging and lake fishing videos.
Most places I do coon trapping is nuisance animals in/around building's so they all gotta go but come late season those den to den areas are fire for a lot of big boars which is what I like to target
I watch your episodes and I never see you doing a call you ever try using a call for in gray foxes great practice is so simple to get so you just pull up and use your call and you'll come right out to you you just shoot them then yep try it and you'll see
Those who watch do appreciate your videos. Keep it up, traps solid, fur in the shed and stretchers oiled

You put out a lot of awesome content ! This video was much needed I’ve had a difficult time trapping coons the last 3-4 weeks thanks for the help !
I would never have even thought to consider squirrels when looking at sign. I don't use traps small enough for them to set off but if I did they were never on my radar. Great video! So much info!!

Great concise live trap show and tell trap video, well done
Great video. Perfect time to trap. Be safe.
Kinda late getting to the video but really enjoyed the information. Thanks for putting up with the politics and sensorship here over 10 years.

What is the bait you are using? I have seen it in several videos and would love to try it out!
Thanks for the information. I need to get back to the farm and set for coons again. We have some snow so I should be able to see tracks.
Great video! I'm waiting for this deep freeze to break so I can get some more beaver sets in.
Great video . Very informative as always
I appreciate this video. I always struggle with late season Coon.
Great video Stu, I luv trapping coon !!!!!!
Another Great Video Stu 👍. Thanks for sharing
Great video. Still catching nest raiders in Louisiana.
Those white stripes are fiberotics for that bad boy, helps him aim.
Great video!............ What do you bait your dog proof traps with?
I asked the same question on a different video and got no answer. As of yet anyway.
What kind of bait do you use for your dog proof traps? You should make a video of you making you batches of bait. I bet a lot of people would like that. But nice videos thanks.
That’s funny
Dry cat food, black licorice cut into 1/4" chunks, cherry cool aid powder. Little juice from canned salmon enough to make the cool aid stick to everything.
Great info and seasonal considerations
When things start flooding and the ice is going out it's time to cleanup. Fur is going the other way as well.
Excellent video keep up the great work you do.
Another great video. Thanks for the info.
I love to use pans on my 220s for trail sets.
Good video Stu. 👍🏻😎
hello. Thanks for the vid. You said when they’re rubbing, you release them. How is this done without getting bit?
If he is rubbed does that make him not good to eat and just how do you release him I would love to see that happen. Yes make more videos
I picked up a 21 lb black coon this year. He was fresh road kill
Great info, so what is the pellet make and grain that you use if I may ask
When you use drags do you spray paint them and chains or dye and wax like traps?
I don't trap until after deer season in southern Michigan. My first year trapping my dog proofs froze in the ground and all my coons kept getting away. I wish I'd have known what you said back then. I don't catch many coon where I am in January. It normally picks up big in Feb and March.
put a Short piece of 1/2" PVC pipe in the ground to place your DP in from freezing also works
Great video and information!
Great video as always👍👍
What kind of bait do you use for late season coon? I am looking for something to hat won't freeze.

Do you just tie some wire to those toggles to attach the traps?
Hey bro, Is it too late in the year to start trapping? Got land in west TN lots of coons and yotes. I'm an avid turkey hunter and noticed that my population is down. Man that’s a haul. As a guy who likes tree them with dogs you would make it hard on me lol.
You mentioned that you would release the coon if he had rubbed . How would you do that with out killing it
Catch pole
Great video!!!!!!
After you skin em, what do you do with the meat? Feed your dogs or something?
Stu, 92 for 1 against. But these kind of guys can bring TH-cam down on you.

Great job!
What do you get for a tanned skunk?
Do you have a video on how you set your DP’s with a fence staple and drag?
Very good video 💯💯👍🏽

Do you ever weigh some of the coons and if so what kind of scales do you use

Most places I do coon trapping is nuisance animals in/around building's so they all gotta go but come late season those den to den areas are fire for a lot of big boars which is what I like to target
nice job.
I necessarily target them at point as far as trapping, but started to call them during the day.
Good vid 👍
How much do you get for your coon's

I can't remember if you've ever done a 'scouting' using google earth video yet?

Whatever!!! You can't trust anyone from Illinois!!!
(Hahaha... I was born in Springfield, IL... haha)

You need to make a video on calling raccoons in . You can get some big boar coons in .
Nasty weather? I see green grass behind you
I caught 1 today that his tail was bit off
I love Trapping BUT have no intrest In doing coon anymore. Just way to much fat to deal with.lol. I will stick to beaver rats and coyotes.

scrolling..... I see he wont answer what he baits with....
Gross beyond belief… how many dogs and innocent critters did you torture ?
ied love to watch you struggle for your life. 🤫
Are you asking him for sex? Not sure that's how Stu rolls. But you do you.
