I started trapping a month ago on my farm. Coyote tracks everywhere. I feel like I’ve set the traps perfectly after watching videos. Tight to the ground...solid lure and bait from a local guy...the backing for hole that’s 6-7inches deep and still the coyotes walk past my trap. I just realized today that I never degreased my traps (yes newbie). You think the coyotes smell the grease? Every 2 days I drive by the traps with my ATV but I don’t touch them or get off the ATV just to see if they have been tripped. Didn’t realize it was this hard! Great vids BTW
I could type the exact same post. Only I did degrease and wax my traps. 6 traps out. All I caught so far is my fingers and nothing. Coyotes everywhere but in my traps.
I had to give it up this week. 8 of 9 sets froze to the ground and the weather is just getting worse. Wax dirt kept pan working but not good enough to keep jaws from freezing down.great videos, just have been teaching the coyotes way too much
Thank you for your videos; I am just getting into trapping myself and these have been a huge help getting started. I imagine you are very busy but do you happen to have a video or tips on proper bedding techniques? I am practicing with MB550s and having a bit of a time getting the traps rock solid. No matter how good I think they are, when I test them after covering with dirt they always seem to rock when one of the jaws is pressed down on. Thank you again and God bless.
Watching this video and I saw your trap basket. Would you do a video on your set up? I’ve only been trapping about 3 years and I’m still working on and adjusting my equipment for ease of use.
Trapping Pa coyote is a tough one until after new years. So many gut piles from deer hunter, they're not hungry for a while. than they're mostly rubbed up.
On the property I trap, I have the coyotes on camera in certain places, but no sign. I placed traps according to the cameras, and have knocked out the bobcats, but no coyotes. I’m not able to find any scat, with the exception of a small amount way up the mountain. Since the spots I have them on camera aren’t working, I guess I’ll do some mountain climbing, and hope the wild hogs and deer stay out of my traps.
Very good informative video! Thoroughly enjoyed it. I Know very very little about trapping and this video made me realize basically everything I knew was wrong lol.
Great video yet again. I had to take a pair of shears to cut up some pine straw just this mornin on my line to blend in a blind set a lil better. Keep gettin misses on it so I'm tryin to hide it a bit better.
I've free ranged chickens for 40 years on my SW Louisiana rice/crawfish farm with little problems from varmints. Recently a coyote(s) has changed my good luck to bad. I've lost 9 birds in 2 months. I made a double set on sign (two sets of tracks) using a can of tunafish (because that's all I had for bait). I plugged in a radio in the barn and am blaring sermons from fire and brimstone Baptist evangelist! I've set up in the barn loft with shotgun and rifle. I got one quick shotgun blast one afternoon but he was running and far. Even after the shooting he's returned. In my younger days I would put out poison but I not going to risk hurting other animals. I don't believe poison is legal anyway. Any suggestions on sets? Other ideas? When I was a boy we ran coyotes with Walker Fox Hounds that would kill the coyote. Don't have a pack of hounds anymore. I was thinking of raising a big hound for a yard dog.
You should combine all your videos by species and put them out for sale in a dvd or digital format Because you HAVE THE ABSOLUTE BEST TRAPPING EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS EVER FILMED !!!!
Set on sign! GREAT tip 👍🏼 I’m a new trapper, but have hunted predators for a while now- the most important lesson I learned is to call to sign! I wasted a lot of sits playing to an empty theater. Great videos overall! Thanks man!
I use alot of small game hide heads guts. Also the cat is always leaving mouse chipmunk and birds for me. I freeze them and chop them into chunk and mix with gliserin. Also coon weasel beaver meat tainted with flour and mineral oil
Great video. We have a lot of problems with neck mites here in Minnesota and the upper midwest. They have no under fur in the neck and the mohawk on the shoulders. On some it is really obvious and others you have to look for the lack of under fur. The longer they have the mites the more they scratch and destroy the neck and shoulder fur. I wasted a lot of time putting up worthless coyotes before I learned what to look for. Have you seen that in your area yet
Had it happen to me last night!!! Lost trap, chain and coyote. J hook pulled off of swivel washer on a piece of 4 foot long 1/2” bar stock which had a 6” piece of 1 1/4 “ hand rail welded on top to hold bait. Stake never moved
I'm new to trapping and I found some scat piles and seen a fox in the area one morning then I set some traps for fox and I haven't been catching anything do you have some ideas what I might need to do different?
It's a value judgement. From a wildlife management perspective, predator control increases the chances of turkeys, quail, and deer young surviving to maturity. Same for all songbirds and migratory birds as well. As for "hurting", bycatch is the issue. Humane, lethal traps take education and experience to be effective. Body grips, drowners, deadfalls, and snares have to be Very discriminate. Poison bait, poison gas, firearm booby traps, and explosives are rightly highly controlled. We aren't at war. You can let nontargeted species; you and your neighbor's pets, livestock, and children out of a foothold trap with little or no permanent damage. The "dispatch" of the catch is as quick and humane as possible. Trappers have a much closer connection with nature than most. Insane torturers gravitate to easier prey historically.
Hey brother, I’m a new trapper and love Your videos! Curious if you have a video of making bait. Looked but just might have missed it. Keep up the great videos!
I'm new to trapping this was my first year , your videos gave me a lot of info thanks and keep them coming , I have some Duke 650 what is a night lach ?
all your video's are amazing really enjoy all that you show. i do have a question for you I got some new traps and I dye them with a dye that says mix it with gasoline will the smell mess me up for awhile?
Looked it up, where is duke traps made This is a solid trap, going to trap beaver with it. Ordered as a gift. Quick easy shipping. Unfortunately made in China.
Yea i hope to start making some hairy Dem yote turds soon! I just ordered a bunch of 330s & I will make up a sign and put on top that reads (All Democrates Please Insert Head Here)! It's time to thin the herd!
that bait looks stinky ,wouldn't want it on my finger , I made some bait in a blender with shad and crawdads put in a jar after a few weeks it got stinky, we miss Rebel dog he"s a good boy
Disagree. The most important ingredient in coyote trapping is the coyote. You can make the most beautiful set ever made, but if there are no coyotes around (even though there is sign) you won't catch a coyote. On the flip side of that coin, if there is no sign, but you know they are there because people hear them and see them, set on location, and you stand a good chance of catching them. If I set strictly on sign, the majority of my traps would be hanging in the shed all year.
Another educational video. Have you ever thought of how many young, and not so young, trappers you're mentoring?
I’m one for sure...👍🏻
ya like this boy here
He got me and my kids into trapping
Me too this’ll be my first year trapping
I'm one of the young ones and I learn from mainly my big brother and this guy

I came from The Wooded Beardsman Channel. He recommended you. He's trying to trap coyotes in Canada. Great video!
Same
Thank you for educating people, I'm glad there's more people getting into trapping, and learning to do it right is key
I had to give it up this week. 8 of 9 sets froze to the ground and the weather is just getting worse. Wax dirt kept pan working but not good enough to keep jaws from freezing down.great videos, just have been teaching the coyotes way too much

The least amount of tools the better , figure what light weight tools you have to have

Wicked cool 😎 11 ½ min in, gotta get back to work will finish the video after work 👍nice catch with that new trap x2 fingers crossed for more l8r,
Awesome explanations on the resets, I guess the shinyness of the new trap doesn't count for anything if they can't see it 😉 well done again 👏 👍
I am new to this trapping thing. Its looks like this is what i need to do.
If I was a trapper I would be paying close attention!😊

You must be a coyote whisperer, getting him to lay there and sleep while you reset the trap 🤣

In the desert I live in... A lot of times the grounds to Rocky or hard to leave tracks from coyotes...
Hard to use foot holds here in wv this time of year too much snow I just run snares now
What’s your favorite method of dispatch also best videos on the tube !
Dude, I can’t wait to try a grass set like that. Thanks for the education.
You should combine all your videos by species and put them out for sale in a dvd or digital format

Awesome video Stu, very clear and great quality!!! What type of bait are you using??? I wouldn't get a tattoo of coyote poop though!! LOL
I use alot of small game hide heads guts. Also the cat is always leaving mouse chipmunk and birds for me. I freeze them and chop them into chunk and mix with gliserin. Also coon weasel beaver meat tainted with flour and mineral oil
Appreciate the education and help! 👊🏻 gearing up for my first season and learning all I can!
Great video. I really like the “full story” of the set
Cool,I like the other one that ran across the distant lane way behind you while you were talking, another dark coyote I think.
Cheers Brother! New to trapping but addicted like hunting, fishing and beer 😜. Your videos are awesome. Keep it up. Thank you
Awesome advice man. Thanks for all you do.
These 650 and 550 Duke traps are awesome much better than my Blake an lamb 2 s and old victor #2
Only a flatlander would call that a hill.
I’d really like a video specifically on locations. Locations for coyotes specifically
I am a second year trapper and every time I catch one weather it’s a coon or a coyote I never catch another one in that same set. Any solutions?
👍Set on sign, can't go wrong!!
I just started trapping and you helped me out a lot. Keep up the good work I love your videos
My dog finds all the coyote poop. I use it in my sets!
Please make a video explaining why raw fur is fundamentally worthless
Great video. We have a lot of problems with neck mites here in Minnesota and the upper midwest. They have no under fur in the neck and the mohawk on the shoulders. Have you seen that in your area yet
very first video i watched of yours. totally hooked and feel that my line and fur handling will be improved 1000% thanks so much.
If ya can't learn from C. CREEK OUTDOORS I ain't sure what to tell ya.👊💀🍻🇺🇲🍻
Great video bud you have been teaching me new stuff and keep up the awesome work
Hey I like it very good video. I'm looking to buy some duke 650 when the dealer have them. Thanks again for the video and your time👍
Can you do a video on collecting and preserving beaver castors? Great video and awesome content!
I believe he may have one up already
Have you ever had a coyote open a j hook enough to steal your trap??
Had it happen to me last night!!! Lost trap, chain and coyote. J hook pulled off of swivel washer on a piece of 4 foot long 1/2” bar stock which had a 6” piece of 1 1/4 “ hand rail welded on top to hold bait. Stake never moved
I'm new to trapping and I found some scat piles and seen a fox in the area one morning then I set some traps for fox and I haven't been catching anything do you have some ideas what I might need to do different?
What would you do if it had snowed enough to cover up your grass?
What do you gain by catching coyotes and hurting them?
It's a value judgement. From a wildlife management perspective, predator control increases the chances of turkeys, quail, and deer young surviving to maturity. Same for all songbirds and migratory birds as well.

This is a solid trap, going to trap beaver with it. Ordered as a gift. Quick easy shipping. Unfortunately made in China.

What do you use for racoon bait in dps?
I use dog food drizzled with sardine oil, works great
I use dog food with honey .the honey sticks the dog food together and the sweet smell brings them in
Dog food
that bait looks stinky ,wouldn't want it on my finger , I made some bait in a blender with shad and crawdads put in a jar after a few weeks it got stinky, we miss Rebel dog he"s a good boy
