Here is a list of reasons why I chose to become a blow dried natural. Having 4C hair is not a walk in the park and it's easily prone to damage. Blow drying my hair helps me to combat dryness and helps with length retention.

I’m a blow dry natural because with MY 4C hair there is no such thing and “wash and go”, and sis, I need to go. I don’t like the idea of spending excessive time just on hair. Things to do, and coin to make. With this I wake up and truly go.

I finally realized that heat stretching my hair is helping me retain my length. I have been natural since 2010 and have had a few major hair cuts because I mostly wore my natural texture. Needless to say I should be close to waist length by now, but I'm almost arm pit length. I wash and deep condition my hair every weekend and blow dry using a Conair Hot Air brush ( my hair likes low wattage hair dryers). I use Nexxus Humectress moisturizing conditioner as my leave in and use Pink Lotion as my moisturizer and Argan One N' Only serum before blowing out my hair. This has been working well for my hair and I am not losing or damaging my hair. I also use my curling iron on high heat to get smooth voluminous curls because the flat iron makes my hair too flat. I work out 3-4 times a week and need to wash my hair every weekend to get the salt, sweat and dirt out. So far so good. Should have done this years ago, maybe could have came close to waist length hair.

    • @DeJhaJoy
      @DeJhaJoy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

I enjoyed reading this cause my hair cannot live without heat. I just flat ironed my hair last week and when I think about all those times I wore my hair in its natural state (even when stretched) I CRIIIINGE!! 😰😬😖. I loss unnecessary length because my strands were struggling when it came time to manipulate my hair. Our hair may be curly, big and thick when it's all clumped together, but our individual strands are so fragile.

@@krissysprayers2537 I gave my hair a break from blow drying weekly. I started doing wash and goes and wet buns the end of March and all of April. Needless to say I went to the salon May 20th for a flat iron and trim. Sure enough my ends were thin and I had breakage. I had almost 2 inches cut. I know for sure my hair likes heat stretching and not worn in its natural texture. Oh well it was another confirmation to use heat for managing my texture. This works for me and will continue to wash, condition and blowout every wash day which is usually weekly unless I don't have time then it will be every two weeks.

I stumbled on this video because of guilt 😂😂 I’ve been a natural state natural for going on 6 years and my hair has always flourished. I just have to wash and redo the style weekly to combat dryness but chiiiile I moved to a new country that’s extremely humid so that doesn’t work anymore. Out here looking like idk what 🤦🏽‍♀️😪 I’ve blowdried a couple times since then to protective style but then my edges started breaking off with the back to back protective styling. So just last weekend I decided I was going to start blow drying everytime I wash because it’s the best option for me right now, then the fear of heat damage set in. Girl thank you! Yeah I noticed when I use a blow dryer it's easier to stretch my hair and my hair actually grows better for some reason.
After I wash and deep condition and moisturize and all that and I braid it up or I'll twist it up by the next day my hair is so dry it literally breaks off. My hair has broken off so much since I stopped blow drying it because that's I cannot retain moisture if if my hair is not blow dried it probably sound crazy to a lot of people but that's how my hair is as well

I'm going to start using heat on my hair! I'm a natural haired girl and literally NEVER use heat in my hair, like twice a year.
My hair is kinda type 4a and I am sick of painful detangling with different tangle teasers when I wash my hair once a week!
I shed so much hair and to manage it is hard and takes me over 1 hour to do a basic style! I do this so I am comfortable sleeping and working out without drowning in my afro.
I begin to sweat like crazy because of how thick my hair is :'(
When I put my hair in like 10 braids to have a break from my volumous hair, its exhausting and tiring as it takes me 2 hours to do!
So I think of other thinngs. I'll do my DIY natural box braids (which takes me 9 hours to do myself consisting of 1 hour of detangling, 1 hour of straightening) for 53 braids!
Lasts me for 6 weeks and then back to the painful process of detangling and losing hair all over again, not really retaining length.
I'm sick of all these websites and TH-camrs saying limit heat which I've done for years and its given me no benefits!
They just say it to make money and look good! I just hating my hair even more, despite my efforts!!
I'm buying a hairdryer, diffuser and using heat protectant to define and dry my curls once a week! I'll be using low and cool settings for it 😁
Tired of waiting 12 hours for my natural hair to completely dry!

Ill hv to try this more often. I go MONTHS w/o blow drying or other heat and it be so tight and endlessly dry it seems. Omg and the amt of hair that comes out😩... so very discouraging with me being natural and all! I wld think my hair wld be in great shape. Anyway, I’ll hv to start stretching it out a bit now with all the benefits you mentioned. Thanks

My blow dry last for the month. However, I get a lot of new growth and sometimes sweat on my scalp in my sleep/during active activities and it’s important to keep the roots stretched (with 2 strand twists or your preferred style) to make maintenance a lot easier. I’m thinking about doing a video on “a month in my natural hair” let me know if this interest you ❤️

Now wearing it In it’s natural state the Only way I avoid dryness, ssk and breakage is flat twisting it In 2 and babying the hell out of it I’m so paranoid wearing it out I. It’s natural state. Boredom use to have me coloring my hair (with a quickness) and frustration makes me itch to cut or perm my hair (mostly want to cut it though). I also don't like to comb my hair, because my new growth be thicka than a snicka, so keeping it blow dried (or straightened) is that happy place for me.

Prior to the popularity of relaxers, bw were often straight hair naturals due the use of the hot 🥵 comb 🪮. I have been natural for 10 years. I am 4c with thick natural hair. I have enjoyed keeping my natural hair. Last week I got a color treatment and a blow out. I am getting used to this style again and I still like it. However, I will probably return to my natural, coily braid outs. Do what works best for you. Yes, it is easier to style straight hair but avoiding reversion, humidity, etc., can be a hassle. To each her own. You look great ❤ by the way.
