    Even a small trawler needs firm rig. Thank you for stretching out.

    Hi Andy just spent the last two days working on my net, new cod end, chafers, lengthener and mend some holes in the belly big enough to climb though by the time I had cut out the damaged net, its sixty feet on the footrope.

      Can I buy a net such as this alongside the Trawl doors? How can I contact you? I need this kind of net. And please, what's the Engine HP you use to trawl?

    Thank you so much for this - I don't think I've ever seen an explanation of the operation of a shrimp net and hope to see your drone video when you produce it. I understand the bottom of the net runs along the bottom, is that correct? Does that mean there are areas or locations where you can't shrimp because of wrecks or snags?

    • @MinorcanMullet
      @MinorcanMullet  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct. “Hangs” will ruin the net and your day! MM

    Andy, any interesting comments from the fishermen dragging around the wreck site?

    • @larrykeenan598
      @larrykeenan598 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably nothing printable. Too much damage from all the crap the nets are hanging on.

    • @MinorcanMullet
      @MinorcanMullet  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven’t heard of any one trawling over the site. It’s disappointing that the debris trawlers were sent home before the cleanup was completed. MM

      Thanks, Andy. I was concerned about this. The trawlers nets and rigging were going to get trashed if they stayed and dragged the bottom. But, it is surest way to know if the channel bottom is clear of hazardous debris. 🇺🇸⚓️

    There is a song from 1951 by Jo Staffordd, titled "Shrimp Boats." It's on TH-cam: th-cam.com/video/b1dz1YRXdOA/w-d-xo.html
    Thanks for the video. Jon

      I wouldn't call it a mongoose. It's definitely a tongue net, but I have a mongoose now that was built by Burbank. The mongoose is much better.
